Scooby Bucks

Featured Replies

A friend of mine just gave me this awesome gift...I have never seen or heard of these before. It's really well made, like a real dollar bill. Anyone know the story on these?

Yes. These were sold and could be used as cash in the park. Some years, you got a discount if you bought them. I think you could get $10 worth for $9. Dollywood had Dolly Dollars...

I believe that Scooby Bucks and Dora Dollars (a similar form of currency) could be used to help pay for food (and I'm guessing other things, but I don't know...) during the Paramount years. I remember that when I worked in Foods way back when, we treated these like $1 bills and I think we could only give real change back as opposed to giving a Scooby Buck back as change. For example, if you paid with a $5 and your meal was $3, I would give you two $1 bills back as change, not 2 Scooby Bucks (if this makes sense). This is about all I know/remember about the Scooby Bucks/Dora Dollars currency system (and my memory is a little foggy since these types of transactions occurred during my first year in Foods, which was 2006), but I'm sure other members might be able to explain in more detail.

Lol, I wonder how many mangers/supervisors the cashier would have to go threw before drawing a conclusion if it is valid or not...

Not that you would spend it though.

Thanks! My friend was also wondering what these were used for, and I told her I knew just the place to find out!

Do you have a picture of such? Not the fact I don't believe you, instead I wanna see it.

Next question, what are some ways to obtain such???

Yeah, I got a few of the Beagle Bucks once through Fun Perks when that was a thing. If they're still available, I'd be interested in how to get them, especially if you can get discounts for buying larger amounts of them.

They are available from guest services. The five for 2014 has Snoopy on it and the one has Woodstock. They good at all Cedar Fair parks so they do not actually say Kings Island on them.

No idea on discounts when buying them.

Given the passholder discounts now available, and the potential to stack discounts, I doubt there are discounts when buying Beagle Bucks. As always, the park is your best source of information.

For those who may be interested, this is an eBay (or is it all lower-case? Their ever-changing logo confuses me...) listing for a 2014 Beagle Buck, complete with an image of both sides of the bill.

6 sold at $6.85. Someone is making a heck of a ROI on those.
