March 22, 201412 yr Okay, we all know that we want Banshee to be on the Fast Lane plus lineup, but since it is going to have some major effects, should Kings Island change their hours, so we could experience a true "night" ride?
March 22, 201412 yr It'll still be dark enough to enjoy the effects, I'm sure. It won't need to be pitch black, which it would never be pitch black in a populous city.
March 22, 201412 yr Get in line at 9:50. They won't shut the ride down until everyone in line by 10 has ridden.
March 22, 201412 yr ^ I wonder how ride ops feel about that... I know its their job but still. I would hate if people continually wait until the end to ride. They probably want to go home before 5 am...
March 22, 201412 yr Ive never been a ride operator but as a rider that always seems to be the most fun part of the day.
March 22, 201412 yr Meanwhile, over at new park Louisville, they be closing most days at 7 PM. Astounded Terpster, who can't make up crap this good.

They probably want to go home before 5 am... I'm sure some do, and some have accepted that that is part of the job; that your scheduled time will, in fact, run over 98% of the time. Much like working in food service has proven to me; arrive early, leave late. Although, even if they truly do want out as soon as possible, aside from maybe the nightly power hours, so to speak, to pump the trains, you won't be able to tell they are upset in staying an extra half hour or hour if they are a good employee.

They probably want to go home before 5 am... Most rides like Beast and Diamondback usually take about an hour to empty their lines after 10. Banshee will probably not be different. It's just what those rides are used to.
March 24, 201412 yr And besides, it's competitive to get to work the best coasters of the park. They know what they're getting into. And it's worth it to them, I'd assume.
March 24, 201412 yr Some parks have been known to close ride lines before the closing hour to ensure that the last train of the night will coincide with the posted closing time. I believe Holiday World has posted signs describing such a practice.

I believe Holiday World has posted signs describing such a practice. Holiday World does do this, but it's not uncommon for most dry park rides to be walk-ons by dark, so they often end up closing with the park anyway.
March 24, 201412 yr Is that to stay within requirements of having minors working rides? I doubt it. It's likely more just the personal preferences of those running the park.
March 24, 201412 yr I don't mean to go off-topic, but this seems appropriate to post here. I just realized that KI is open on Easter Sunday...and yesterday when I did my schedule for work, they said nothing about it. I'm confused...
March 24, 201412 yr The past several seasons, KI has opened on a Saturday and has been closed the next day for a private party. That is not the case this year.
March 24, 201412 yr They're open on Memorial Day, Independence Day and Labor Day as well. I don't see why Easter should be any different.
March 24, 201412 yr KI is opening a week earlier than it did from 2011-2013, and Easter falls on a later date this year than in many years. Amusement parks are typically open on holidays during the operating season.
March 24, 201412 yr ^^Exactly.. Besides for those of us who do not celebrate, it's another day to us.
March 24, 201412 yr Yes, just like good Friday. For many, they're gonna spend it according to Catholic practices, others will ride Banshee... Easter isn't a huge holiday IMO. Aside from the Christian roots, it's a holiday for children. Easter is no Christmas or Thanksgiving.
March 24, 201412 yr Usually they don't give out full day shifts on Holidays. If you do work on Easter it will only be half a day probably.
March 24, 201412 yr Retail stores open on all holidays, with the exception for Christmas and even then, some stores open some hours for that day. If stores were to close for Easter, it will be one less day's worth of sales.
March 24, 201412 yr Well, I don't work on Easter Sunday, ]same for Good Friday, for good reason too. I find it a shame that they do, but at the same time it is money in the pockets of the park, and family fun for those who pay. BB1, celebrating Christ, not a bunny.
March 24, 201412 yr Some parks have been known to close ride lines before the closing hour to ensure that the last train of the night will coincide with the posted closing time. I believe Holiday World has posted signs describing such a practice. I remember when Kings Island used to have signs posted a poplar rides (The Beast Comes to mind) in the late 80's and early 90's that do to ride popularity it may be necessary to close the que line prior to the park closing hour. Obviously they do not do this anymore.
March 24, 201412 yr Look at Thanksgiving holiday when almost ALL stores used to be closed on that day and NO stores were open even part of that day until Friday for the start of the Christmas shopping season. Not even Kroger were open on that day until a few years back. Now almost all retail stores on open on all holidays, with the exception for Christmas with a few exceptions. I can only speak for retail stores because of the market research firm that I used to work for where we tracked all the sales data for all retail stores across the nation. Now they almost all have to stay open due to the ever thinner profit margins and must remain open and hope they can attract more shoppers during that time of the year that they depend on for their sales.
March 25, 201412 yr I love when parks allow you to get in line right at close. I think Cedar Point even allows it on the big rides 5-10 minutes after close. We usually save the longest line for that.
March 25, 201412 yr Yes Cedar Point doesn't usually cut the line till about 8 minutes after close. I have ran around and rode Magnum several times after the parks closing hour.
March 25, 201412 yr Definitely makes a guest wanna come back to the park if they are able to end their day with the joy of being able to hop in line a minute before close. Rather than getting turned around because the park closes in 10 minutes and being told they wouldn't be able to get on the ride by closing time.Adds to a perfect day of FUN.
March 25, 201412 yr Given KI will be open Easter is great to enjoy the park, even though I'm catholic (yes I said it) it still is a business and many people do not celebrate the holiday and it will be a real treat for families to enjoy the day at the park. I applaud KI for opening early this early and closing late in the season past October. I'm sure Sunday early won't be as busy and enjoy a day of riding early. Sent from my iPhone using Taptalk
