Does anyone know why the beast gets rougher and rougher as the years goes on? And is that why they added brakes that i haven't seen in years past there? I just think The Beast is the best ride i have personally ever rode on that is wood and frankly has you from the moment you leave the station. Its The Beast 25th year and frankly i think it gets better with age. Its going to be awesome to see the birthday party later on this summer.

My rides so far this year have been great. So I really am not sure what you're talking about. Im sure the days you go are a factor with weather if you go on bad days.

I rode it yesterday(hence why I was late for work) and it's running fine. It's always shaky, and it always will be. Sob is shakier, though.

It's not getting rougher, you just forget how rough Beast can be during the winter, so it seems to be rougher. That's why it seems like DZ is getting taller each year to me, because I keep forgetting how big it is! And the brakes in the middle of the ride haven't changed the speed, it's just that the brakes they put in some years ago slow the train quicker.

Faster, yes. Rougher, not so. I rode The Beast once this season and I wasn't knocked around at all. It was more like being shaken up from how freakin fast it was going. SOB is a different story. It's rougher than it's daddy, but not as rough as it was last season. The Rose Bowl refurbish did rather well IMO.

Oh, and the "Hollywooding" of The Beast... meh.

If roughness is an issue for you, try this....Just like on SoB, the ride is noticably smoother when you sit in the middle seat. Works for Racer, too. On any coaster, you will have a less rough ride when not sitting over a wheel. All of the adult woodies in the park have three bench cars....

Sorry for splitting this post... As far as the brakes are concerned, Yes, the magnetic ones are more noticable. But they are an improvement, IMHO. The skid brakes ground at the train's speed for most of the course. The ride is now allowed to speed in places it hadn't before. I've noticed much more track work in places on the ride....I'm personally hoping for the eventual reduction of the number of brakes used.

You can't hear the sound effects really well while going up the first hill, because the train still makes a lot of sound going up the hill. All coasters do.(except LIM/LSM coasters)

When I went, the fog wasn't working too well, but I'll try again later.

Also, I'd expect a coaster like Beast to be a little violent.

Here's the scoop. I have rode The Beast since after about two years of the opening. If anything, the ride has become smoother. The first time I rode The Beast, it gave me an awful headache. After that, no probs. So, no, The Beast has not become rougher.

With a name like The Beast, I wouldn't expect the ride to be as smooth as a knife running over the top layer of some Philadelphia Creme Cheese.

I really think it actuall depends honestly on where you sit.

On saturday I rode it like 4 straight times. I started in the very front and moved back everytime. I ended up in the 3rd from last car and that was the roughest of all the rides. I was actually in pain from the ride, my back hurt for the rest of the day. However, in the front seat the ride was perfectly smooth.

I've found that to be especially true on SoB. IMHO, the ride signficantly smooths out in cooler temps, or even after a cool rain. This past weekend, the coaster was very rideable.

I think The Beast was fine how it was It has its own sound effects.
