December 10, 201312 yr Im really excited about all of the changes made now that Ouimet is in charge. Hopefully this is one among many improvements that will be made for the 2014 season. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
December 10, 201312 yr If you've ever heard a working carousel band organ, you'll never have any problem figuring out what's live...and what's Memorex. Unfortunately some young-ins here don't know what Memorex is or was. And on this note...pun intended Can we get the original music back on International Street??
December 10, 201312 yr I was jazzed to hear her back to life. Sometimes its the little things that bring that "best day of summer"
December 10, 201312 yr I wish instead of a tiny little 11 second video we would have a nice full length video to enjoy. One more reason to not use Twitter
December 10, 201312 yr Perhaps restoration is underway and the limitation was what the band organ can currently do--not Twitter's limitations.
December 10, 201312 yr Twitter does those short videos like vine I'd be more inclined to believe that. There's always a chance but I'm thinking the first is the issue
December 10, 201312 yr Because he's the pr person and that's what they do...say things :-P Let me win once lol
December 11, 201312 yr I'm almost 100% sure that the band organ was working during the 2006 season. It was also the final season movie themes were played over the Royal Fountains. Look @ KI twitter, Don answered Lindz personally EDIT - Thanks. I guess my memory is getting a little blurred .
December 11, 201312 yr The last time I heard one of those Band Organs....well I heard a pipe organ last month, but the last time I truly heard a "classic" style was at the 1900 Park Fare. Truly a long while for me! (I like getting a glimpse of this, I like vintage machinery!)
December 11, 201312 yr This is great news to me. I love carousels. I wish to carve a German style horse someday. The Wurlitzer returning makes me really happy.
December 18, 201312 yr This really made my day! For those who've never ridden a carousel with an operating band organ, there just isn't a comparison. Woo Hoo!
April 15, 201412 yr Just a(nother) snippet of the Wurlitzer 157 - if that's what's happening - would be so utterly tantalizing in the lead-up to opening day!
April 15, 201412 yr A classic merry-go-round is something that you really don't appreciate until you see a new one! Remember, there's only a limited number of these babies to go around. The expenses of making, (and likewise purchasing), a full-sized band organ, hand-carved, ornate, carousel would almost never be "justified" today. Really the only way that a park as new as KI gets one is if another park closes... and one did for KI, kind of.
April 16, 201412 yr KI had one (and recordings from it are still available), but what happened to it is a mystery to some. The facia for it was on the carousel long after the mechanics were removed.

All indications are that it will be returning this season, at least if a tweet from Don early in the offseason is to be believed: http://twitpic.com/do971a
April 16, 201412 yr I do as well. It's been hard to watch the organ shell sit there gathering dust over the past 8 years or so.
