September 26, 201312 yr Ever since I was a kid I have always dreamed of one day designing my own roller coaster, or better yet my own loop. I have always had an idea of what I call a "lasso loop" in my head, but have never really discussed it with anyone. So I decided that I would sketch it out real quick and show you guys what the "lasso loop" looks like. Keep in mind that I know nothing about designing roller coasters and this is merely an idea that I've had since I was a kid. I have always wanted this to be built by B & M, to be a hyper seated coaster, to be called "The Lasso", and to be put in Kings Island. This is also not the whole ride and not necessarily where I would want the loop to be located in the ride, but here is what I drew: I want the loop to start out as an upward corkscrew/barrel roll, go into a loop, and then an intersecting downward corkscrew/barrel roll. Let me know what you guys think! And keep in mind that I am no artist or roller coaster designer.
September 26, 201312 yr Actually pretty impressive... That is a pretty quick transition, in reality it would probably be draw out a bit so it doesn't slam you three different directions, but any nolimits guys out there wanna see if they can put something together? My only other issue with this is how to support the structure, it's ganna have some weird stresses I'd think. Other than that I actually like it
September 26, 201312 yr Kinda reminds me of a non-inverting loop. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
September 26, 201312 yr Author Thank you! I would love for someone to make it on no-limits and let me know if it's actually possible.
September 26, 201312 yr You know with LIMs, or whatever they call them, anything is possible. It becomes a matter of practicality. The amount of LIMs needed to make the transition you drew would cost a fortune and also cost a fortune to operate. But I bet it would be one hell of a ride!
September 26, 201312 yr Do you think it'd need lim/lsm if you have enough speed, however idk without putting it through no limits...I never got into it or fully messed around, so someone else should take a gander
September 26, 201312 yr I could see this working more as a vertical barrel role in to an inverted top hat followed by another vertical barrel role. The other thought I am having is turn it on its side and have interlocking corkscrews in to an Immelmann
September 26, 201312 yr I tried to put this in No Limits, and no matter how much I drew out the elements, I was pulling 9 Gs in the little twisty part. I think the closest you'd get would be a tight helix that surrounds the base of a loop. The loop would have to be part of the coaster's return trip to the station. I couldn't find a way to go straight from a tight spiral into a loop without pulling lethal G's. But I'm kind of a No Limits amateur, so maybe someone with more experience than me can give it a shot.
September 26, 201312 yr If I'm not mistaken, there's something quite similar to this idea in RCT3. On the Hypercoaster model you can add what's called a "figure-8 loop", yet I'm not sure it goes upside down. If anyone happens to be playing RCT3 right now you should look it up.
September 26, 201312 yr The figure 8 loop is an inverting loop stuck on top of a non-inverting loop. I believe this idea is an inverting loop on top of two vertical interlocking corkscrews. RCT's figure 8 loop:
September 26, 201312 yr I've tried the "figure-8 loop" in RCT3 before, but its way too weird for me to watch a Magnum XL-200 style train go through that thing!
September 26, 201312 yr Can No Limits convert saved tracks from RCT3? I know it can from the first game. If it can take in tracks from 3, then converting that into something more like the Lasso would be seemingly trivial.
August 11, 20233 yr Author I just found out that Intamin created my loop a year ago. I wish my original image was still attached from 2013. But the description I had posted, matches these concept images that Intamin had shared. I can’t wait for it to be real, since I’ve imagined this since I was a child, and I’m now 31. haha I’ll be there, wherever it first goes, on opening day.
August 11, 20233 yr I'm envisioning a world where arrow created this in the 80s and everyone that rides gets very hurt. I don't know why I think of this when I see it but it feels like it would be an arrow thing to do.
