Rendezvous Run

Featured Replies

I went down it friday evening and while going through the tube my mat ran up on the sides and I went upside down. I fell on my back and went through the rest of the slide on my back head first with no mat. It was pretty fun, it scared my wife and baby though. Has this happened to anyone else?

That's never happened to me before, but the one and only time I went on Pipeline Paradise, my mat went down the ramp, I hit the wall, flipped OVER the wall, and got shoved by the water up the exit ramp. It hurt pretty bad. Your incident sounds pretty freaky! I would freak out if that happened to me lol

I hate this water slide.

Coming out of the tunnel before the drop, I nearly fell off my mat; if I had, I probably wouldn't switched a lane!!

I've almost flipped a few times, but always avoided it. The key to not flipping is to steer the mat manually. The faster you dive into the tube, the less you can rely on the curve of the tube steering for you. To steer, pull your inside handle back slightly and push the outside handle forward slightly. The idea is to simply point the mat in the direction you want to go (i.e. around the curve). It only takes small movements to have the desired effect. This will help keep you off the side of the tube and keep you from flipping. I personally believe that it also helps you go slightly faster, but I'm not sure if that's true.

Rendezvous Run is a slide that you must ride on a mat at all times, to that, I say nothing. BB1, the waterpark "know it all". As well Restricted Access # 423

I've never been on it as I don't like water parks. It's actually the only slide in Soak City I've never been on.

The few times I've ridden the mat slide, I've lied down in the tube and forced myself (slowly) forward. Less risk of abrasion, flipping, or ending up on the mat in a bad position that way, though I doubt BB1 or jcgoble3 would approve. It sort of defeats the whole "racing" thing.

My only bad experience was when I had the mat too far in front of me. That caused me to lift my legs to avoid hurting my knees, which evidently was not a good riding position. Thankfully, the mild back pain subsided in a minute or two.

Usually, I avoid Soak City entirely. A couple tens of seconds of thrill usually isn't worth the wait, the soaking with water containing way too much urine & sunscreen, or the climb.

I don't always go to Soak City, but when I do, I prefer the ride formerly known as Snowy River Rampage.

Stay in the dry park, my friends.

I just get water up my nose. I hold on to those mats for dear life

If you don't like water up your nose, don't ride the middle slide of the "Pineapple Pipeline" complex. It's listed as a "moderate thrill (3/5)" according to visitkingsisland.com. It's not.

Water up my nose is one of the few things about water attractions that genuinely scare me. Anything in that water has a direct path into my body at that point.

The Abyss and Leap of Faith at Atlantis in The Bahamas are absolutely horrible when it comes to water spraying in your eyes and nose, and is one of the reasons why I hate water slides.

Sounds like it needs a trim.

^ Ha.

The freefall actually caught me by surprise, as I wasn't paying attention to that slide's layout. Someone else in line told me to do the middle one when I said it was my first time.

As a former swim team member (10 years and 30 lbs ago), water up my nose isn't a terrible issue. But I can't stand laying on my stomach. I'm always worried about my kneecaps popping out, as they have down many times before.
