Banshee Construction Progress

Featured Replies

Yup..worksite covered in heavy fog, can't tell honestly, we will have to just watch. With rain conditions & falling temps I'm not sure about testing, or at least testing everything. I don't think they'd risk running it in three train op with rain on something brand new. However you can never be too sure.

We did not mention all the statistics during the announcement because statistics are not what make a roller coaster great; it's the ride experience it delivers that makes it great.

  • It's good to see me, isn't it? No need to respond! That was rhetorical. Under 30 days until Banshee makes its public debut! We can't wait for you to come out and experience this ride.

We have guests that are more excited about our live shows than our roller coasters, that visit the park specifically for the shows. For these guests, the Cirque Imagine announcement was as exciting as

When Banshee testing begins I'm almost positive they would start with one-train operation.

Yes first run, but after that they're going to want to add trains. Can't test anything else with one train op other than manual stops, etc. Can't test the blocking mechanisms with one train.

Been looking at the sunrise/sunset schedule for April 18th and the sun will rise @ 7:04. So from 5:30am to about 6:30am I would say those rides are going to be in the dark!

Don did say that although the event starts at 5:30, that doesn't mean the first rides will begin then.

We're in a wind advisory over here in Indiana. Not sure about Ohio... 40 mph wind gusts, with rain and dropping temperatures... Not the greatest day for testing, to me at least.

We have one on base..35-50KTS (so anywhere from 40mph to I think 58)

Good point too about the wind I didn't even think of that. With that being said right now yeah I doubt testing..For CP, direction and MPH determine our shutdowns, usually only a few rides go down for small wind, 20mph is the usual threshold for the rest, 35+ is practically a full shutdown for all rides affected by wind.

Better tomorrow and Friday Saturday also I think. I think they ran into some trouble Don had tweeted I think Saturday or Sunday to a local news lady That he would be watching the initial testing on Banshee during the "Spring Like" weather we was getting Monday and Tuesday. Then that lift was down there for a really long time messing wit either the chain or motor.

Just a thought as to why we didn't see any testing at all the past 2 days

They were testing yesterday, just not cycling the ride. They were moving trains back and forth from transfer to ready brake and possibly into the station but I couldn't see it.

(You can often tell a lot about a thread by who is not posting in it. Or at least nothing substantive.

Terpy, who...)

Yep. I figure the second word gets out that they are testing, this thread will be jam packed.

Please either link to DavidW's gallery or the KI webcam page for credit, thanks

Not going to be a copyright nazi, but I think it would be best to give KI the credit for these images. I simply create a temporary archive of them. Also on that note, just like the actual webcam link, make sure you save my images on another host as well. The images are temporary and will be deleted 3 days after they are uploaded.

P.S. Thanks for using my site. I probably spent too much time getting it working. :)

What's going on behind Delirium's building? Looks like doors are open or something, some activity at least.

I link to the cam for the KI credit, but use your files as they're temp..after they're gone I have no biggie, it's three days. Three days here is old news lols.

Also sorry I probably caused your bandwidth to increase big time lol..let me know if I'm abusing your server

And I like the site, it's been great help to watch it like a hawk. My only thing is on mobile by day three, scrolling down with a thumb is a pain in the ass haha, but nothing you can do to solve that.

i have "unlimited" bandwidth, so there shouldn't be an issue there :)

Except that April 18 is Opening Day, which means the front gates won't open till 9:30! If you're referring to Media Day, that's on April 17 and yes, while the event begins about 5:30AM, the first ride window hasn't been announced yet.

I believe opening day the park opens at noon.

Yep you're right APE, as it states on the park's website they will open at noon. Here's the link.

Kingda Ka did its first tests at 3:00 in the morning!

Probably sent from my iDevice without Cydia.

^For reals? I wonder if they did that in case the train rolled back on its maiden voyage. Nothin' to see here folks! Nothin' at all...

And it did roll back on it's first run. Quite a few times actually.

But I think the real reason they tested at night was because they were so far behind schedule. They needed every minute they had and then some to get her open.

I would think they did a bunch of low power tests before a launch at full power. They would all be rollbacks.

There's a documentary on the building of Kingda Ka I've posted it on this forum before. They couldn't get the launch to work properly at all in the initial testing. Ka did not open with the park that year.

Point me in the direction of that documentary please.

Yeah, that makes sense. It doesn't get any better than trying to fit 32 hours into 24. Ah the days of college... At least it worked out for them.

They do low power tests where if coasts basically or barely dragged by the catchcar. There's a video somewhere of Monty Jasper talking about them testing dragster. Being the same design I expect the same procedures to test the ride.
