Banshee Construction Progress

Featured Replies

If they take Vortex down they should build a blitz coaster in its place.

I didn't know B&M made blitz coasters.

We did not mention all the statistics during the announcement because statistics are not what make a roller coaster great; it's the ride experience it delivers that makes it great.

  • It's good to see me, isn't it? No need to respond! That was rhetorical. Under 30 days until Banshee makes its public debut! We can't wait for you to come out and experience this ride.

We have guests that are more excited about our live shows than our roller coasters, that visit the park specifically for the shows. For these guests, the Cirque Imagine announcement was as exciting as

I don't think they will use B&M for their next coaster.

Why are people so hell bent about ripping rides out just because they're older? It's not as easy as a couple clicks on Roller Coaster Tycoon. Sheesh.

I believe this topic is "Banshee Contruction Progress" not "What do you want to happen to KI in the next few years?" lol

You're right. Sorry for getting of topic. Btw Clifford has turned toward the dive loop area.

Do they have the tallest set of lift hill supports up yet or do they have one more set to go before they start going downhill??

I think there's one more tall support.

One more to go and the apex of the lift hill track is still needed. She will grow a little bit taller still.

The next coaster to be built will likely go where Vortex sits.

That sounds about right considering a lot of people think Vortex is rough. Hopefully we put a Floorless in.

I think that the next coaster will be an intamin giga. So if ki were to put in an intamin giga, where could that go?

At a Six Flags?

I just don't see them building an Intamin anything for a while. A B&M Giga is a possibility. I think it comes down to either a B&M giga somewhere between Action Zone and xbase, A multi-looper(floorless, wing or regular sit down) replacing Vortex, or I could see a newer generation wood coaster between x base and Action Zone.

My guess is a B&M giga similar to leviathan in the woods behind FOF. Lots of room back there. Not for at least 5 years though.

This is a topic about the construction progress of Banshee, our new for 2014 roller coaster that no one has ridden because it is still being built and was just unveiled last month, why do people feel the need to start talking about what's next?

The next coaster may well go in Planet Snoopy (at least I hope so), the next big one, my guess is Action Zone which still has a ton of room or as part of an X-Base expansion.

But back to the topic at hand...the web cam really plays tricks with your eyes based upon the angle its at. Watching it yesterday, it sure looked like 90% of the latest piece of track was sticking out beyond the support, made me think for sure they'd be putting up the last lift hill support and transition piece to the descent to get it all tied together. however, driving home, the piece of track they put in yesterday is hanging roughly in the middle (which makes sense thinking about it). This ride is going to look nice dring past KI.

A thread that goes on for months will get off topic from time to time. You can only play by play the webcam on here so much.

If yesterday was any indication of the pace for the week, I expect today to be a good one.

"@KingsIslandPR: Column #7 for the Banshee lift hill will be going up this afternoon."

Has anyone else noticed how close the supports for the bottom of the first drop are to those for the lift? That first drop should have a really right turn radius if that's the case along with how steep it is. Should make for a great feeling of acceleration.

Currently they have both sides of the final support in place, without the top that connects the left and right columns. When they are like this, they're center of gravity would appear to be not over the base of the columns, meaning they would naturally want to fall. Am I the only one amazed at the amount of torque that these must be placing on the footers? I'm assuming this is why the lift hill foundations had giant "well" in their centers....

they're putting another column up now.

edit: darn, DB beat me to it.

If you look carefully in most of the pictures they actually attach cables of some sort to help hold the supports up temporarily. It's not something you can see on the webcam

That is quite the worker, I imagine his hourly rate is much less than Cliffords

If you look carefully in most of the pictures they actually attach chords of some sort to help hold the supports up temporarily. It's not something you can see on the webcam

Where are said chords being anchored...?

Yea, I notice them when I was at the park Saturday. Anyways, their putting the third column of the last lift support in place. I bet they'll top up the lift hill by tomorrow.

The yellow crane, to the west of the construction has been extended most of the morning. I've been wondering why they had the arm on that all the way up, but it would be a logical place to tie off the cords balancing the support beams until they are connected together.

This ride is going to look nice driving past KI.

I agree, although I think that the biggest visual impact will be in two areas located in the park itself - near Delirium and as you're walking through Coney Mall. The Coney Mall view is actually more interesting to me at the moment because it provides the best "feel" for how big this coaster really is.

B&M coasters are always visually appealing but this one is really going to be stunning once it's finished.
