I was at the park yesterday and saw that the big sign in the parking lot was being taken apart. They had taken out the big light board. Does anyone know wether or not they are updating the sign with the new PKI logo?

Yeah we are getting a Brand new Board for 2003! i heard that it will sign will be in color...so...we will see the logos for scooby doo and the haunted castle and Delirium,Spongebob in 3 in color

Its about time. They have had the standard black and white board for ever. A color will really stand out on the interstate, and look really good for those entering the park.

It will be really cool to see the logo for the ride I am working on as I go into work.

Was the sign replaced when Paramount bought the park, or did they just add the Paramount logo?

I think they just put in a new sign. I think it is time for a change though. I think a colored board is a good idea, and I hope it will have the new logo on it.

Yes the New logo For PKI with the stars coming at ya will be on the sign thats why there changing it in the first place because it wouldnt make sense to have new logo going on the website etc.. and not on the HUGE sign! iam just happy its colored know i look at the new logos for the rides as iam driving to pki!

Actually, I'm pretty sure that the old PKI logo is here to stay on that sign for a while. This is the second trip that the "sign guys" have made to the park in the last month. The first visit they checked out the light panel message board and replaced all the lights on the PKI logo, if you've been by at night you will notice its much brighter and all the stars work.

From what I gather. They tried to fix the light up message part and were partially completed but the park wanted it to look perfect after many years of troublesome messages being displayed from a partially corrupt board. I haven't heard anything about the new sign being in color but that would rule. I assumed that the sign was just being replaced with a new one of the same time. We will just have to wait and see over the next few weeks.

Maybe we will see an all new sign this year. If the sign guys made one visit, and started finding problems with the sign, after replacing a bunch of the bulbs, then maybe PKI told them to just fix the whole thing. That would be cool. new PKi logo at the top, and new color boards in the middle. I'll bet thats expensive no matter what, running cabling all the way back to around the park gates. One thing is for sure, the sign will really stand out, if it is in fact color, when finished.

Well the new sign is up and operational as of last week. The lights are much smaller than the old light board so it allows animations. Aparently I heard that they the first day they turned it on they ran an animation of The Racer like you were riding it but that has since been changed and is now displaying time, temp, how many more days till opening day and all the new stuff for the park with the only animation being the transistion from one message to the next. For those who said it would be a color board, you were wrong, its still just white lights but it looks much better than it used to.

Sounds really cool, sad it isn't in color though, but I guess life could be a lot worse.

Ah, maybe the money saved on having a color vs. balck and white sign, can be applied elsewhere in the park, or even in the future?

Yeah, considering all the renovating they're doing in the park, I really don't think they'll have money for that anytime soon...

I drove by the park last Saturday and the sign still looked the same then.

Yeah hopefully the sign people add color to the sign.

Sorry, folks. The sign is done. No color just small LED lights rather than regular bulbs. Do we really need color?

When I was at the video shoot last friday I got to see the sign. There is nothing great about it, it just looks beter than before.

The sign is still just plain white and black... but it can now do some unique animations and other fun stuff like that.
