May 16, 201313 yr Just wanted to let everyone know that I got a tip from one of the ride operators on Dodgem today. He told me that the cars are not all the same speed. The two fastest cars are the bright yellow ones, number 35 and number 9. I drove car number 35 today, and the difference in speed compared to other cars was definitely noticeable, at least to me. Try one of them out!
May 16, 201313 yr I usually stay away from the yellow cars for some reason, but maybe I'll try one now. #YOLO
May 16, 201313 yr My favorite are the Holiday World ones. I think they are required to have front and side airbags in them.
May 16, 201313 yr KI's bumper cars aren't that thrilling compared to those at other parks. I personally prefer the ones at Coney, but I also don't remember much about the ones at Camden Park or Beech Bend, so those might be better as well.
May 16, 201313 yr I've been on some really really good bumper cars. Americana used to have a really good one. I know Cedar Points are awesome too.
May 16, 201313 yr As Terpy says Knoebel's has the best, then there's my second place Indiana Beach. The ride ops let me sit and spin my car in circles for maximum mayhem!
May 16, 201313 yr I've watched so many good sets get replaced with slower, safer ones. Lawyers and lawsuits. Sigh.
May 16, 201313 yr On the topic of bumper cars, I had a lot of fun on the set at Conneaut Lake Park, although less because of their speed and more because of simply how monstrously hard the collisions were. Which is odd considering I'm usually not a fan of unnecessarily rough rides.Seriously, I was shocked I didn't have a headache for the rest of the day.
May 16, 201313 yr As a self-proclaimed dodgem enthusiast, I will say that KI has the worst that I have been on, in terms of thrill and speed and overall ramming ability. I haven't really experienced many different park's dodgems, but I think Cedar Point has my favorite out of what I have. I had a ride on those at OSU Day after the park had closed (we were leaving from Maverick and they still were running about 15 minutes after everything else shut down). That ride is very fun at night, with the red lights in the ceiling, 70's retro music playing, etc...
May 20, 201313 yr I am saddened when reading this thread because here I am thinking that I am at the pinnacle of my Dodgem career, only to find out I have been playing Tee-ball. I really do need to consider going to another park besides Kings Island. Maybe Cedar Point this year.

We'd always passed them up before, but I guess that was a mistake we need to correct!
May 21, 201313 yr This is good stuff! I am looking forward to going to Knoebel's Grove after reading this. Is that where the antique cars from KI went?
May 23, 201313 yr After today's trip I can confirm that #35 did feel a lot faster than the others- didn't get to get on #9.
May 23, 201313 yr I believe that Kings Island`s Antique Cars eventually found there way out to Worlds of Fun, in Kansas City.
