  • Well its been a fun one.. So long Starting to Decode 2014!

  • You know, I chuckle at this thread. The more I read it... which is pretty much daily now... the more I become amused. Why? It's a near carbon copy of about a dozen other threads related to KI throu

For those waiting for when we'll announce what we're building for the future, you might want to grab yourself a Snickers bar. It's going to be awhile. We still have the majority of the 2013 season

Tallest and fastest in the world coming to KI in 2014. It matches up perfectly to the triangle footers on each side....

Terrible ride and idea, terrible capacity, terrible terrible terrible

Amen!

I think you forgot to mention terrible.

^ That's as much of a bad idea as the coaster in your last post was....terrible capacity...terrible idea....terrible ride for Kings Island.....Terrible, Terrible, Terrible...

Cedar Fair is not concerned with nearby parks "rivaling" each other within their chain, especially when it comes to roller coaster make/models. Cedar Point and Kings Island draw from very different markets, Kings Island from the tri-state and Cedar Point from the lower great lakes, and that's excluding Cedar Point's destination park aspect over Kings Island's regional size. When FUN puts a coaster in at Cedar Point, I highly doubt they worry about it affecting Kings Island's annual draw, or vice versa.

When it comes to regional competition, FUN would be better off concerning themselves with parks from other owners. Kings Island stands more to lose from Holiday World than it ever will from Cedar Point.

This got me thinking; what's keeping Kings Island from being bigger than Cedar Point?

I really want this to be an Owl themed coaster.

CP can pull in a grand or more off of one family with tickets, lodging, and food in one weekend. A family spends hardly nothing at KI.

The former CEO lives in the parking lot.

Is this a pay-as-you-go attraction?

With the recent teases involving owls and the "No Camping" signs pointing to a potential forest-themed attraction, I am now thoroughly convinced that these guys:

...aren't scarecrows. They're woodsmen.

The+Woodsman..jpg

The name is actually meant to describe the sport seen in lumberjack competitions, but either way goes. And while plenty of axe-wielding maniacs in lumberjack garb have terrorized campers and unsuspecting passersby in pop culture over the past several decades, I think there is one in particular dangerous and legendary enough to warrant a ride named after him - The Huntsman.

Anyone who has either read the fairy tale of and/or has seen Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs remembers the Evil Queen ordering a huntsman to take Snow White out into the forest and kill her, bringing back her heart as proof. Thankfully, and in the spirit of a happy ending, the huntsman lets Snow White free and brings back a pig heart instead. But what if it were the opposite, and the huntsman actually succeeds in 86ing 'Ol White-As-Snow and, overcome with blood-lust, stays in the forest to prey upon more victims?

Thanks. Someone agrees with me about a Woodsman.

I have been very quiet lately just reading posts, and adding every ones ideas together. I would like to hear a little more @theBEASTunchained.

Based on the interviews I have seen of him, Matt Ouimet did say he would love it if all the major Cedar Fair parks (Kings Island included) had an on-site hotel, campsites, etc. as they have proven to be good money makers at Disney (where Ouimet worked pre-CF) and Cedar Point, but the money to do this for all the parks just is not there right now. However, it could be something we see happen at KI and other large Cedar Fair parks in the future...

I would like to hear a little more from a man named Don Helbig.

Jr for Birdy, Don Helbig is having way too much fun playing with our minds to hear anything from him anytime soon.

So like Cedar Point is a destination park, but Kings Island isn't. Could that possibly change? And if so, how so?

What's paranormal about a woodsman?

Who/what said anything about 'paranormal'. A evil phenomenon and something that is paranormal are two different things.

Market in different markets. The KI/CP combo ticket is a very good example of this. Adding on-site lodging like a camp ground to promote extended stays wouldn't hurt either.
