January 31, 201313 yr This brought back some memories of the old (good) TR:TR. Thank you very much for posting it.
January 31, 201313 yr OK, enough fooling around. Would somebody please explain to me exactly when, where, and how the "downtown" joke originated? I'd very much like to know.
January 31, 201313 yr The Crypt during its final years basically was Tomb Raider: The Ride minus the story, effects, and synchronized music. How can you say the Crypt's cycle with its marry-go-round program was like TRTR?! Crypt didn't hold you upside-down, or do a top spin. And it was much slower.

The Crypt featured 2 flips in it's later years and the ride was slower than molasses. TR:TR featured 4 flips and held riders upside-down. Now post TR:TR early Crypt, 9 flips in the intense cycle for a year, TR:TR didn't hold a candle to that cycle.

It's been explained here numerous times. After one of the ride's many revisions, a park marketing person at Kings Island, who often posts here, Mr. Don Helbig, posted in these forums that The Crypt had been very popular the year before, and that, contrary to perceptions, it was almost always open, as it had far less downtown. Several weeks later, a very similar post appeared, also by the park, also citing The Crypt's reduced downtown.

Didn't know it was considered an inside joke tho :b Thanks Terpy.
February 2, 201313 yr Good stuff; thanks for posting- for some strange reason, the ending quote sounds very familiar: "Nothing gets the best of Laura Croft, unless she lets them, and I didn't raise that kind of girl"
February 2, 201313 yr wow i cant believe i was the first person to respond to the guy who asked what the ride was like now :-) hehe

February 20, 201313 yr This used to be one of my all time favorite rides the first few seasons it was opened. I remember waiting in line with others who had no idea what kind of ride they were even getting on. Does anyone have a video of the old intro room show?
February 20, 201313 yr I remember riding this for the first time back in '03 with no clue what to expect. I loved every second of it. It was a great escape from the heat too. Couldn't help but feel a little sad walking by it last year.
