What do you look for in coasters?

Featured Replies

I always like it when coasters are open, dependable, safe and comfortable. Fun is a huge plus. I love strong laterals, intense negative g's, smoothness and the great pacing of an old time woodie (like the Comet at The Great Escape). I'm not much for restraint pain (see Ninja at Six Flags Over Georgia or The Rollercoaster at New York, New York Casino).

^Restraint pain is one of the biggest reasons that I only ride Maverick for the sake of riding it.

I am in love with positive g's. The only thing I like as much is hanging against your restraints (commonly found on The Crypt and Invertigo). Negatives aren't too bad, as long as they are abundant and strong.

I love a lot of aspects about rides. Negative G's are probably my favorite part of a ride. Followed very closely by Lateral g's/ intensity. That is probably why the Voyage is my favorite coaster. Lots of airtime (huge hills and the little bunny hops along the track) plus the tight twisting return path after the brake run. Marvelous stuff!

I love inversions just for the sake of being upside down! I also love negative Gs more than positive Gs, although I generally like positive Gs too; also, lateral Gs are a favorite of mine (Adventure Express, anyone? :D).

I like me one that is tall, skinny, great tan color, smart, fun, safeish and gives me the thrill of a life time! Opps wrong website...

I look for theming and detail then mixed with speed. I like Revenge of the Mummy quite a bit cause it offers both and un expectingly.

I'll take airtime (not sure if that's positive or negative Gs) over inversions any day. Inversions don't do it for me, I love a long light drop like Millennium. Nothing bears that feeling of facing down falling out of your seat.

Skyhawk is the perfect ride for that.

For me it's intensity and airtime. How did you not put airtime on there? It's very important in a long lasting relationship.

It does sound like a dating thing

I like coasters that are visually striking, there are times like to watch rides (The Beast being the exception) as much as ride them. The pressure treated lumber is disappointing to me I miss the painted look on wooden coasters. Beyond that air time, misdirection and head choppers are always good.

LOL!

Airtime is listed as "negative Gs". (EDIT: Terpy beat me to that.)

For me it's overall intensity. I don't really have a preference for any particular type of physical forces (though I'm not a big fan of laterals). Rather, the "force" I'm after is being forced to focus on nothing but the ride by the sheer intensity of it. If I can think about other stuff while I'm riding, then it's not intense enough to make the top section of my list.

I love terrain hugging coasters. I'd love to see one go into sob's spot, but I don't see it happening...it would be surrounded by other terrain huggers.

Intensity and speed are my two favorite things in a coaster. Hense my love for Beast because its intense and FOF beause its fast and it has the enough amount of intenseness.

I voted height, but I love speed.

I have a great fear of heights, so I feel like Master of the Universe when I finish a very high coaster. But after that first awful hill, I love the speed of whipping over the track.

Dramatic views from first drops are what I enjoy most about coasters, such as The Beast's signature hilltop panorama featuring sloping, wooded terrain, and ...the rest of the coaster!

I like something that is brand new to the coaster world. New inversions and new concepts are a great experience.

Sorry for the double post.
