February 17, 201313 yr Hey, if you wanna post gifs and memes with other high school kids, go to Reddit. if you wanna stay on the topic of "Son of Beast roller coaster to be removed," keep posting here.
February 17, 201313 yr I have a sudden desire to ride Drop Tower to get a really good look at that area! It would be cool to get a sense of how a new coaster could fit on that land!
February 17, 201313 yr I'm curious to check out the topography of the entire area. I think I was always under the impression it was relatively flat, but from the photos it looks otherwise. I've never actually been to the park without S.O.B., so it will definitely be different.
February 17, 201313 yr I wonder how important it is to Kings Island to have something take SoB's place in the skyline…it sure is going to look empty.
February 17, 201313 yr It most definitely wasn't flat down in there. It was and is quite hilly and in some places even steep.
February 17, 201313 yr I'm not sure how close this is to SoB's spot…but you can see how hilly it was during the time of LCS:
February 17, 201313 yr This photo from "kifansite.com" kinda shows the un-level terrain of the former SOB area.
February 21, 201313 yr I'm pretty sure that pic of the monorail was taken downhill from the area where the Flight of Fear is now. There is an access road (also pictured above) that I used to drive where the fence (pictured) still stands in partial.
February 22, 201313 yr Just happened to be browsing on eBay today and saw this. I'm tempted to bid just for nostalgia. Does anyone have this coat? Looks like it could be a cool thing to have. http://www.ebay.com/itm/121070042091?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649
February 22, 201313 yr ^Sometimes not acting like a pompous jerk works too. Had it not been for already knowing that was a picture os Son of Beast's field post deconstruction, I would have thought it was from pre-construction. I presume that this was directed at a post made after mine that has since been deleted? I have missed out on this thread for the last week or so. But to stay on topic, it's amazing how much the land was actually levelled for SOB. I never really realized that. I'm excited to see what's coming in the next year for the site! Can't wait to start following the "clues"
February 23, 201313 yr Yes, it was. Two or three posts after yours have been deleted, yet mine survived...
February 23, 201313 yr While I can't find the specific photos to back me up, something to note of Sonny's Valley: The former loop stood at 118 feet tall at "ground level" (the bottom of the valley). On the midway right by the bathrooms and Thunder Alley, you could just barely see the top of the loop through the lift hill structure. Also, the station (where the Haunt attraction, Wolf Pack, resides now) rests a good 60-70 feet off the ground from the Valley, even though it sits at just above eye level from the Action Zone midway. Lastly, Adventure Express's lowest point - the dip before the turn into the final tunnel, I believe - is still maybe 10-20 feet higher than what Sonny's lowest point was at the bottom of the 214-foot drop. Most of this conjecture is speculative; I'm only basing this from memory riding Sonny and Adventure Express numerous times and just looking at the surroundings.
April 1, 201313 yr Sorry for bringing back a thread that was almost dead....but this I think is worth it Pictured below is the Son of Beast station as of Today. Note the open ends (no Wolf Pack). My friend John C. took this picture while on rounds at the park.P.S. this is my 1,000th post!
April 1, 201313 yr I find it cool in a park history-kind of way (like The Bat's and King Cobra's footers) that the station track still remains. It must be part of the structure supporting Wolf Pack.
April 2, 201313 yr I dont know, that appears to be four floors (based on stair case design)... average story (floor) being about 10 feet or so... thats 40 feet up...
April 2, 201313 yr According to the park Wolf pack will remain in that building. I know, which is why I find this pic odd, with the walls on the inside of the station down. This past regular season, the props/walls for Wolf Pack stayed up. However, the walls and props aren't there.
