February 1, 201214 yr Out of curiosity, I just went through all the ride pages the KI website to make a list of all 24 Fast Lane rides for 2012. Here's what I came up with: 1. Backlot Stunt Coaster 2. Zephyr 3. Monster 4. Adventure Express 5. Scrambler 6. Shake, Rattle & Roll 7. Congo Falls 8. Eiffel Tower 9. Dodgem 10. Boo Blasters on Boo Hill 11. Diamondback 12. The Beast 13. Delirium 14. Drop Tower 15. Firehawk 16. Flight of Fear 17. Invertigo 18. The Racer 19. Vortex 20. WindSeeker 21. Surf Dog 22. Race for Your Life Charlie Brown 23. Flying Ace Aerial Chase 24. ??????????? Yeah, I only found 23 ride pages with the Fast Lane notice on them. Did I miss one, or is the 24th FL ride still a mystery? Or is it Son of Beast? (Yeah, yeah, I know, but somebody had to be the first to mention it.) Anybody here know?
February 1, 201214 yr Author I don't know, but its page on the KI website doesn't advertise Fast Lane on the right-hand side like all the ones I listed do.
February 1, 201214 yr Can someone explain the logic of including Eiffel Tower as a Fast Lane ride? How is that going to work? I have *never* seen Tower with that long of a wait.
February 1, 201214 yr ^I have, multiple times. The queues are filled on busier summer days, and there's typically a long line before fireworks.
February 1, 201214 yr If the Eiffel Tower has a wait long enough to make you consider paying for Fast Lane, you need to turn around and leave and come back on a day that it's less busy. I've been there on extremely busy days and only seen a 5-10 minute wait for it.
February 1, 201214 yr If you came from California and/or have guests with you who want to experience Kings Island and are going back to England tomorrow or even if you live across the county, have the money and don't want to wait, Fast Lane is there. Not everyone has the luxury or even wants to come back another day. Doing so is sometimes not an option, more expensive than Fast Lane, or simply more trouble than it's worth.
February 1, 201214 yr I'm not saying that I don't like Fast Lane, I'm saying that Eiffel Tower is an incredibly poor choice of rides to offer it on.
February 1, 201214 yr I'm not saying that I don't like Fast Lane, I'm saying that Eiffel Tower is an incredibly poor choice of rides to offer it on. The point is not that people will buy a Fast Lane pass just to skip line on the Eiffel Tower. The point is that being able to skip line on the Eiffel Tower is a nice perk for those who paid for a Fast Lane pass. Not sure what you're hung up on.
February 1, 201214 yr And if everyone sees it the same way that you do, that it is a horrible ride choice for Fast Lane, then there should be close to zero impact from it, because people will be off riding "better" (used very gingerly) rides to get their money's worth. But if people do decide to use it for Eiffel Tower, then that means that while there may be minimal impact on it, it will draw people away from Diamondback and Firehawk.
February 1, 201214 yr I don't think it was a mistake, but I really hope it was. I think Flight Deck would be a good Fast Lane replacement for Eiffel Tower. I've never waited in a 10 minute+ wait for Flight Deck, as I like to go on non-busy days, but on Saturdays FD would probably have a longer line then ET.
February 1, 201214 yr I don't think removing FL from Eiffel Tower would necessarily mean it can be added to a different ride. Adding FL to ET is probably very simple and doesn't require any new employees or extensive modifications to the queue. In comparison, Flight Deck's station is elevated 30-or-so feet off the ground with only two pathways connecting from the ground - the queue line and the exit. Unless the park was to squeeze Fast Lane into one of those two paths (which would be quite hectic), I don't see that coaster getting it anytime soon. Besides, what's the harm in having FL for ET? Even if it's rarely/never used, it still enables the park to advertise 24 FL rides versus only 23. More the merrier
February 1, 201214 yr As long as Viking Fury is a FL ride, but that has not been confirmed, so it's kinda still 23. Just saying it could be better used on FL.
February 2, 201214 yr I have avoided Fast Lane conversations for a LONG time...but I am curious to see how many people will come to the defense of Fast Lanes passes if the Eiffel Tower is in fact one of the 24 FL rides. I specifically mean when it is close to fireworks time. We all know that the tower has a maximum capacity...plus you already have to get in line early in order to hopefully get up in the tower...can you imagine how furious a non-Fast Lane customer would be seeing people jump ahead of them? The fireworks are a once a night deal...it's not like you can wait for the next batch like a Diamondback train...plus how in the world could anyone know how many Fast Laners are about to get in line ahead of them so that they can get in line early enough? (It's like where I work...someone will call and ask if we have a certain item, then the ask if we will still have any left in a few hours...how can I predict how many people might be on their way to possibly buy said item?!) And if a non-Fast Laner DOES have to get in line earlier...isn't that affecting them in the end?
February 2, 201214 yr I personally am not a fan of Fast Lane, it took away a few things like single rider on Diamondback, making me wait almost an hour every time I ride it instead of the usual 5 minutes; it also adds a longer amount of time waiting for other rides aswell.
February 2, 201214 yr Well if all day at Kings Island is 10-10, wouldn't the fireworks not be counted if they were after 10:00 p.m? I don't remember when the fireworks start exactly, all I remember is one of the elevator's attendants telling us that if we wanted on the tower to arrive around 9:45-ish....
February 2, 201214 yr ^Standbyme, I aslo thought about this.. but I can also see, if this becomes an issue and they receive too many disgruntled customers that are affected by it, they can just say that Fast Lane for ET is cut off at 9. And if you are a Fast Lane user and don't like that, then don't buy a Fast Lane pass.
February 2, 201214 yr ... but I can also see, if this becomes an issue and they receive too many disgruntled customers that are affected by it, they can just say that Fast Lane for ET is cut off at 9. I also thought of this as an option...I just hope that the park has too...and for that matter that they don't wait for disgruntled customers to do what is right in the first place.
February 2, 201214 yr The park could also open both the 265- and 275-foot platforms, reserving one for FL guests and the other for stand-by. This would require an additional two ride operators, plus I don't think there'd be enough FL guests flocking to ET to fill a whole platform, but it's always an option.
February 2, 201214 yr ^ If the demand was that high, wouldn't they need to operate both elevators? I don't think I've ever seen the left elevator operate. (Not to seem like I'm criticizing your point, because I'm not... I'm just thinking out loud. )
February 2, 201214 yr I have no problem with access to the tower for fireworks being a perk of FL. You want to make sure you see the fireworks from the tower, buy a FastLane pass. What's the issue?
February 2, 201214 yr If you don't like it, don't buy it. Plain and simple. You can get to the platform at 8:00 pm if you want to be at the top. It's a trade off.
February 2, 201214 yr You can get to the platform at 8:00 pm if you want to be at the top. It's a trade off. So will you at least ADMIT that if you do not purchase a Fast Lane pass your day could be affected by Fast Laners...plain and simple?
February 2, 201214 yr Have a Fast Lane pass, you're pretty much guaranteed to be at the top for fireworks. Don't have one? No guarantee. Hence why Fast Lane is a perk.
