Will a reg season pass get you into fearfest or whatever they call it now?

Featured Replies

This probably is a good place to remind users here that there is NO re-entry during Haunt...no handstamps are honored. Once you leave the park for any reason, you are done. NO re-entry.

Six Flags does this, too, during their Fright Fest (how odd I remember that name!) :)

Wasn't there a time when a certain chain tried out a "No re-entry" policy mid-season? Ouch.

Even if it was the beginning of the season... Still ouch.

The policy was announced. It was not implemented.

And I`m not sure if people remember being at the park during the day when the boo event used to be a separate gate. If you were leaving the park, it was a nightmare. They actually were exiting regular park guests through the old season pass entrance as the paying Fear Fest guests were entering the main gates. It made for a rather large bottleneck and led to confusion. Hard to believe that 2002 was the last year that Fear Fest was a separately gated attraction! It seems like so very long ago! (I went to Fear Fest in both 2001 and 2002. Sadly, I never went in the inaugural season).

Then there was the unfortunately (in my humble opinion) named Nick Or Treat.

The first Fear Fest was a very good event, indeed. I doubt anyone realized what a success it would end up being.

Was Fear Fest produced in-house? Is the new event? I do not know... I feel like Fear Fest most certainly was, based on the houses and themes featured (which heavily used the park's pre-existing props and themes), whereas much of the Haunt seems to be borrowed, switched, rotated, and copied from other Cedar Fair parks.

GYK, who adores being so off-topic (even while being on-topic), and is grateful for the things he has learned from such full-circle tangents...

In 97 and 98 it was all in park. Yours truely went in the KI big flatbed out to the country and a small hand full of us cut every stalk of corn and every bale of straw in the park. It was awesome, we hand made all decorations and made all the scarecrows. Tied all the black and purple bows and made all the black bunting you saw hanging from he rooftops of every building.

If I`m not mistaken, most of the haunts that original year in 2000, were from an outside company (at least most of their design was). I believe that most of the haunts now days at KI are set up by KI`s own staff. Yes, there are some haunts that are borrowed or identical to haunts at other CF parks. I still remember the haunt that took place on the Antique Cars. Too bad they don`t bring back the haunt that was on the lower deck of the Eiffel Tower (it was during the first season). But I suppose elevator capacity is a limiting factor in that event.

I know for a fact The Freezer was bought from an outside company that first year. The gentleman whose company it was posted here and used to argue with Haunt Guy!
