That's what I'm thinking. A GCII could fit easily but they would have to remove some of the parking lot. I'd much rather see a Gravity Group woodie though. It's station and lift hill would be where Demon Drop is, It'd probably be around 90' and than drop and turn right. There would be one big hill, than a very highly banked turn heading right. You would now be in between the beach and the parking lot. Do two more big hills, than a small one, and than maybe a turn like Ravine Flyer II's. Do a few small airtime hills on the way back, than turn left and start a more twisted section similar to the part of Voyage closest to the station. I think it would be a great coaster, and only a small portion of the parking lot would close. But I doubt CP would get a Gravity Group, I'd predict a GCII, or an Intamin.

Or, to be contrary, maybe they are actually going to save Big Dipper and put it in their flagship park.....like that would happen.

Meanwhile, over at Fox in the same Toledo town on the very same day the self-same Robin Innes is said to say:

I don't mind being ambiguous or clever to drum up chatter and get freee advertising but... CF has had their honesty (and integrity) questioned quite a lot recently.

There was a rumor of a Intamin Gyro Drop going in it's place back when rumors started about it's removal. This was back before it was listed for sale 4 or 5 years ago. Going in at Cedar Point you know the rumor was that it would be the tallest.

If they were to get an Intmain drop ride which I am sure that is not the case I would rather see them get the one with the giant ring like at KD. The lines would def. be terrible at the point.

Okay, so I think the chances of this happening are about 30% but here goes my theory anyways. During the viral campaign before the announcement for Shoot the Rapids they many times mentioned lightning really does strike twYce. Many have drawn their own conclusions to that based on what was announced, but perhaps it's more about what wasn't announced. With Demon Drop now on it's way out and CGA having plans for the GCI that would conveniently fit in it's spot could it possibly be the other strike of lightning? We've all seen how quickly GCI can put up a coaster after having watched Terminator goe up very quickly. Just to add a little more fuel, STR was planned originally for 2009 so it would seem 2010 plans were already finalized as well. Thinking that Cedar Fair will likely do very cost effective rethemes of the Nick sections and only 3 of their parks recieving major capital investments it seems that a GCI may indeed be feasible in that regard to. Again I think the likelyhood of a coaster suprise at the point is unlikely for 2010, it's just some nice thinking.

Plus they already have Power Tower, which also set a record when it opened (Worlds Tallest drop ride (300 feet with the dome top)).

Lighting is striking twice with the return on Shoot the Rapids at Cedar Point. A long time ago Cedar Point had a ride called Shoot the Rapids.

Also I think a wooden roller coaster will fill Demon Drops spot.

So because of some bad press/ bad decisions they should disclose future plans?

When I was in business, I learned that no matter how hard you try, you cannot please everyone.

Two ideas for a woodie at CP replacing Demon Drop, and using some of the parking lot.

Twisted GCII. Not real layout, it's just to symbolize it's twisted. It uses some of the parking lot.

Here is my more favorite option. An out and back Gravity Group woodie. It uses very little of the parking lot, it more just borders it. The only problem is that being so close to the beach sand will get on the track a lot.

Are there even anymore like DD out there anymore?

Mrs. Gator and I were talking about DD last night, and we were both wondering the same thing. I know back in the 80's the then-Marriott's Great America in Illinois had one, but I don't know if that one is still there, or if any other parks still have one.

It is not still there...it was the one that moved to Geauga Lake, becoming known as Mr. Hyde's Nasty Fall, and then was scrapped...

Currently, Demon Drop at Cedar Point, Torre do Terror, at Beto Carrero World, Brazil, Hollywood Tower, at Movie Studios Park, Italy, and those at Toshimean and Central Park in Japan are the only remaining Intamin first generation Freefall rides in operation that I know of.

Anyone else have more info?

As far as that area being used for a wood coaster, it would look great there. But, CP has had issues with their neighbors (those $1,000,000+ homes north of the parking lot) complaining about the noise in years' past. The noise complaints go back as far as Avalanche Run.

I hope that would not have an influence on their decision.

GOD, I hate to see rides go, whether relocated or scrapped. I rode Chang on it's last operating day at SFKK.. got the second to last train. Walking away from that ride made me very sad.

I will be riding Demon Drop on closing day as a farewell too.. I have to pay my respects on its last operating day at CP.

Oh I'll be riding it, but I will be closing out November 1st with last rides on my beloved Magnum, and my friends on the Magnum crew that I'm going to miss, a lot.

Now that the move has officially been announced, I wonder what the lines will be like this weekend?

Because we all know what a real "people mover" DD is.

I can remember when DD was rather new and waiting in lines of almost 2 hours.

...and I wonder what kind of lines it will draw at Knott's. After all, many in that market have ridden the very similar ride that was once at Magic Mountain....years ago, even.
