Feb. 21st WEBCAM trip report

Featured Replies

This is probably the first trip report filed by someone who didn’t go anywhere. (But I figured that some of you lucky people would like to see the web cam shots of you there.)

By making the decision not to make the long trek back for this…I had hoped that by me NOT going that it might help you guys have a little better luck with the weather! Even though I was not going, it didn’t mean I wasn’t excited…I kept checking the weather for Mason all week…seeing how it was shaping up. It was odd how many times it went from good to bad then back again.

On the morning of the event it was looking a little shaky…especially since it was snowing where I am at…and it looked to be heading towards Ohio…it was just a question of how fast I thought.

This is how the weather looked about half an hour before the tour:

And about 2 o’clock:

It was about 10 after when I noticed it was raining:

I wondered if the rain had cancelled the tour…but I kept watching the webcam…at 2:26 I had my first sighting…you guys made it!

I can’t say as I can make any of you out…I am curious though, did PhantomTheater wear shorts again?

(I was happy for you…and myself since I knew that meant lots of TR photos.)

If you look real close you can see you guys in this shot.

I didn’t know it at the time, but this turned out to be the last time I saw you guys.

I looked at the weather map…it was not looking good:

I kept watching the web cam…but things seemed to only be getting worse:

Looking at this shot, it’s obvious you just barely beat the weather:

I hope everyone had a good time…I was planning on getting web cam shots of you guys everywhere…but I guess it wasn’t meant to be.

It's almost like not really being there!

J/K...I didn't make it, either...hoping for some good pics.

EXCELLENT PHOTO TR!!!! How do you get such angles and quality in those shots, J.D.?!!

He wore shorts again.

J.D., I was waving to you by the way!

I was pulling for you.Glad you got to get in.Not sure if the other group made it.Send us some photos when you got time.

Wish i could be there.

You know what you may not have been there but thats pretty cool. Atleast the ones that were there can see what a radar looked like when they were there.... Im sure they are wet and cold as of right now... lol

Thanks! I am shocked that you didn’t make it…I thought you being there was a given.

That’s nice! I can’t wait for your TR…especially since I know I CAN’T be in it this time!

Yes I wore shorts, I didn't realize that would be a big question for today.

I hope you know I didn't mean anything bad by my comment...it's just that you made quite an impression on me at the last get-together...it was somewhere between "This guy is crazy" and "He's more of a man than I am!" I hope I didn't offend you.

That second radar picture was dead on. It began sprinkling right before we walked into the actual park.

Thanks for taking the webcam pictures J.D.!

Oh come on! The subzero temperatures and the rainfall was all part of what made the tour awesome!

We were done around 3 and truthfully, it was not a moment too soon. It was cold enough out there and the wind and rain just made it worse. I'm glad I went (the day lasted longer than I expected) and I would go again in a minute.

all i know is that it felt like we were out in the park for about 15 minutes, but then when i looked at the clock in my car we had been in there for an hour.

JD, this was a cool idea for a trip report. It was neat to be able to see ourselves on the webcam. I think I can narrow two of the gray blobs down to me. I'm one of the two. We did just barely beat the heavy weather by maybe 10-15 minutes. Thanks for thinking of us.

And to answer any questions, yes the SOAR tour did indeed happen, in the face of a fierce wind and swirling snow.

Lets just say that it wasn't the warmest experience, other than the hospitality shown by one Mr. Don Helbig.

omg I was freezing haha. :)

It probably would have been easier if we hadn't worn our hair down, mine was sopping wet forever after that! At least we found a warm dry place to get food afterward.

J. D. first let me say the ride over and back was very uneventful from my last trip to KI, sorry you were not unable to attend, you were missed.

How cleaver you are in thinking to do a web cam PTR, just more of your creative side coming out. I can not believe you would make a statement in your title of your report of "Probably the most boring TR ever". I think your Web Cam trip report was enjoyed by many who were not able to attend and gave them an idea how things went and also gave them a precursor of PTR to follow later by the attendees. If I was doing a report I think I would have started with a link to your report to help set the mood going into the report.

While Waiting in line for the go-carts at Crazy City I checked in to see if anyone did a trip report yet and your Web Cam trip report was a big hit among those there. Can you imagine 9 people hovering over a cell phone looking at your report, I wish you had that picture.

Hey again sorry you were unable to attend and I truly enjoyed your cleaver report.

Once again I agree with you Avatar. Not only was this a considerate thing to do for those who didn't make it, it was also really neat for those of us that did go to be able to see how everyone else spent that time. The radar screens showing the impending doom were a great touch. Very cool idea and not boring in the least.

Hahah. My hair was soaking wet when i got into my car, but by the time i got home after we got food, my hair was pretty much dry!! But some good yummy food ehh? lol :D

Awesome TR. Very original, and the radar shots were a nice touch!

While we were there, I made a comment that someone was probably watching us from the webcam. Now I know I was right!!

Great idea, standbyme! I was curious when I saw the word "webcam" in the title. It was cold and wet, but it was fun! Glad someone got to enjoy it, at least vicariously, while staying warm.

Hah! Great TR J.D. That weather is a killer. It hit my hometown fairly hard and slowed me down. But I guess it wasn't meant to be for both of us. :)

Great TR! Most of us got out of the weather just in time, however I (along with my friend) were (un)fortunate enough to be the last ones to be picked up. At least 30 minutes under the HR Tent in the freezing rain (which still managed to get blown sideways at us occasionally)!
