Diamondback Construction Thread (Updated 3-19-09)

Im glad to see they are staining the wood a darker color. Now it will match the siding on the bottom of the station and will fit much better with the other buildings in Rivertown.

This is true, two good points here. Hadn't thought about the sidding at the bottom.

The angles seem to be sporadic, someone is probably custom moving it... maybe finding new angles!

I love these pictures.

construction photo. It's nice to see something different on the webcams

How convenient, everyone is watching for the first test run of DB and they change the camera angles. They must be starting to do testing.

I love the new views, but I can't see Diamondback anymore...

 What am I looking at? There are some rooftops, but I can't figure out where they are?

Ah our luck the first train is out on the track and about to go up the lift....LOL :)

<<< this is post 200!! Im a junky.. ha ha ha

It is where one side of the exit comes too.... thats all I can figure out.

That is Diamondbacks Trading Post. It is the new gift shop that will be in Rivertown.

Thanks, Nemo. I knew the KIC Air Force would have good aerial intel on this!

^^Congrats on 200, kittenpoo!

Anyone else notice the roof work they are doing on the Diamondback Trading Post? That building used to have cedar shingles. Looks as if the are placing sheet metal on the roof to match the roof on the station.

I have a visual on DB right now, there is a lite sprinkle and there at least 3 guys up on the break run area.

Are there any trains out of the storage shed?

maybe someone should pop him and email asking why they did this??

Im sure he is dealing with alot right now. They may be doing this for a reason and maybe not. You know somethings are worth waiting for. And while waiting we have more great and different views of the park. Be patent my friends :) If there is something going on we will find out in due time. In the mean time sit back and enjoy the views of the park!

Ok, I will ask, so exactly where are you?

it's raining like crazy now... i dont think anything will be happening any time soon!

They show one glimpse of DB. It looks like an artistic rendering.

If I was KI, I would not want the world watching the very first run of the coaster in case there were issues. They don’t want people getting scared that it is not safe to ride. I bet once they have a few days of testing and fill everything is OK, they will pan the cams back over for us.

Outside the park having lunch, so I do not know if any trains are out, I was hopping you all would tell me that.

Sprinkled harder then guys got down from break run and know a ton of cars are leaving the employee lot.

I emailed Don Helbig and didnt expect anything back but he emailed me right away.

Cory,

Please be advised that Diamondback has not been testing. Nobody has missed anything. Testing is scheduled to begin in a matter of days. An exact date and time has yet to be determined.

Sincerely,

Stephanie,

We are not testing Diamondback, as the rumor mill suggests, because of the webcam angles

today. We're doing a webcam test to see what angles in the park we can

showcase this summer.

Don

I did email him, There were other subjects I had needed to ask him about but did bring up the webcams. I edited my email but this is the part about testing and cams. :)

That is a cool idea. I realize the cams are mounted wrong for this, but how about one pointing at the parking lot to see how full it is before coming. HA!
