August 17, 200818 yr Tell me what to expect when i ride sob.Ive rode The Beast and love it but still have yet to try sob. Someone told be the ride is so intense, that why you never hear screams on it. Also how is Vortex?looks pretty fun.
August 17, 200818 yr it's a lot of fun, ride in the front if you want a smoother ride or in the back if you want a more intense ride, give yourself atleast an inch of space between you and your lap bar. Vortex is ok, i'd suggest the back on that, you get a great first drop on that too.
August 17, 200818 yr IMO its yhe best ride at the park. Its alot smoother than last year. the only rough part is the rosebowl but its not that bad. I'm sure you'll love it hope you have fun!
August 17, 200818 yr Excpect Pain, Whiplash and Back spasms but you have to ride it! It's really fun and what a rush it is flying on the wooden track a 78 mph.
August 17, 200818 yr Son of Beast used to be great, but now it hurts my most of me. Vortex is easily the best ride in the park.
August 17, 200818 yr Son of Beast is a must-ride although it can be painful. I rode it at about 9:30 on enight and it seemed to be less rough than other times I had been on it. The Vortex is also a must-ride. It became my favorite ride once i rode it. I love the drop and the corkscrews.
August 18, 200818 yr SOB can be painful at times.I sometimes feel like my spine is going to come out my front during the roughest parts.Vortex is great. The best seat is the front.
August 18, 200818 yr Son is a rough ride, but its a lot better since they changed the trains and removed the loop. I don't mind it-I have noticed that I am unable to hold my arms up in the air-the g's will literally push you down onto the lap bar. I recommend giving it at least one try. I have a bum back and I can take it.
August 18, 200818 yr SOB is good once, maybe twice in one day...last time i rode it i thought i was gonna have to see a dr. halfway thru the ride...i honestly think it was easier to ride back with the old trains and loop...plus it had the loop haha...but I would try it in the front seat as everyone says it's smoother up there, I haven't had a chance yet though...
August 18, 200818 yr okay, you NEED front seat, there is a huge difference between first and second, first is the smoothest. its a really fun ride
August 18, 200818 yr I've never ridden in the front seat on SOB so I can't comment on the ride there... but it's one rough SOB ( ) everywhere else. To me it isn't just rough like Beast or Racer... it also has a jerky kind of element to the roughness that twists my back to the point of this thought pattern: "dear God is it over yet?" followed by "remind me never to ride this thing again". I'd much rather spend my time riding Vortex repeatedly. Your mileage may vary. If you ride Vortex in the front seat, watch your knees at the top of the hill after the initial drop - they may slam into the car's shell if you're not expecting it.

Also how is Vortex?looks pretty fun. Son of Beast is nice, but painfull at the rose bowl. You should try it and be able to say you rode the only wooden hyper. The Vortex is one of the best rides in the park. It is one of my favorites you will love it.
August 18, 200818 yr The SOB is fun, but rough-you really need to have room to move around so that you can brace yourself and shift your body. I only need this one once a day. The Vortex seems rougher than it used to be, but it is definitely a classic.
August 18, 200818 yr If you want the least jarring ride possible, ride the front. The farther you go towards the back to more violent the ride. You will hear a lot of folks say how rough it is and that its awful, honestly find it a great ride. Big fan actually. If you want something to compare it to, try Texas Giant or Mean Streak, both very violent woodies and honestly I think the Giant is rougher than SoB.
