June 9, 200818 yr I never claimed to, I was pointing out that its obvious why certain names were changed. Drop Zone and Face/Off are not just "words" like Cor claimed, but registered trademarks of Paramount Motion Pictures, and as is confirmed and has been see....all Paramount references and theming have been removed from the acquisition parks by Cedar Fair. Wasn't trying to be rude to you Cor, just pointing out that Cedar Fair obviously chose to remove all the movie references (and announced they would be doing so in conference calls), and in doing so names like "Drop Zone" and "Face/Off" had to go, since being trademarks of the movie studio. Except you can't trademark merely the name of a movie or book...you can trademark designs. And the contents of a movie or book are copyrighted, not trademarked....You gotta love intellectual property, unless you own some. Protecting it is hard....finally, CBS sold Paramount Parks, and CBS, as well as Paramount Pictures (the latter a unit of Viacom) along with others had certain intellectual property rights that were used at Paramount Parks under various licensing agreements.
June 9, 200818 yr Plus you MUST protect it or it becomes public domain. It's happened to Disney before. They got some bad press because they insisted that a daycare paint over a wall featuring many Disney characters. Disney wasn't trying to stick it to this daycare, but they are forced to protect what is theirs.

Often businesses and companies are demonized for doing things that are simply protection of their property.
June 9, 200818 yr This makes me want to rent some movies...like "Zephyr" (2003), "Shake Rattle & Roll" (1984, 1997), "The Vortex" (1969, 1928), Peter Bencheley's "The Beast" (1996), and "The Crypt" (1981).
June 9, 200818 yr I say change the names. I don't care for them. It has nothing to do at all with Paramount's influence. Simple, eh?
June 10, 200818 yr Plus you MUST protect it or it becomes public domain. It's happened to Disney before. They got some bad press because they insisted that a daycare paint over a wall featuring many Disney characters. Disney wasn't trying to stick it to this daycare, but they are forced to protect what is theirs. And don't even think of asking your local cake decorator to put Mickey Mouse on a cake... Names long since gone generic: Aspirin. Cellophane Escalator. Thermos. Yellow Cab. Dry Ice. Yo-Yo. and many, many others. Widely considered to be in danger: Kleenex Xerox Baggy Crock-Pot Band-Aid Jell-O Post-It. Coke (which is why the company is less than amused with those who say Coke when they mean Pepsi, RC or any old cola drink...) Old Terpy, who knows far too much about this area....
June 10, 200818 yr Right on about Jell-O. Kool-Aid is another one. Tb, who may or may not work at a Macaroni & Cheese company
June 10, 200818 yr Coke (which is why the company is less than amused with those who say Coke when they mean Pepsi, RC or any old cola drink...) Old Terpy, who knows far too much about this area.... Those in the South know that Coke means most any drink.
June 10, 200818 yr Shhh...before I have to pop you..... Terpy, child of the north by soul but the south by birth....
June 10, 200818 yr Shhh...before I have to pop you..... Terpy, child of the north by soul but the south by birth.... And WooferBear is just the same. Midwest born and raised with his heart in the South.
June 10, 200818 yr Read mine again.... I'm an old Kentucky boy by birth, but am most at home in New Jersey...yes, New Jersey! Terpy, child of the north by soul but the south by birth...
June 10, 200818 yr Author I'd like to see the last vestiages of Paramount leave. So I still think that Congo Falls and Wings Diner should have new names.
June 10, 200818 yr Coke (which is why the company is less than amused with those who say Coke when they mean Pepsi, RC or any old cola drink...) Old Terpy, who knows far too much about this area.... Those in the South know that Coke means most any drink. It was the same in the small Ohio town where I grew up. Beatle, whose wife, when she was alive, used to call him (probably accurately) "a redneck with an education"....
June 10, 200818 yr I'd like to see the last vestiages of Paramount leave. So I still think that Congo Falls and Wings Diner should have new names. Pop Falls and Soda Diner. There. Settled. Tb, up too early to be creative.

June 10, 200818 yr ive seen pics of Amazon Falls sign before and it looked really cool,so yeah id change cogo falls, but I could care less about wings diner. If you could care less, then you DO care some.... Terpy, whose favorite pet peeve has appeared again...
June 11, 200818 yr Author Maybe if Pepsi comes to Kings Island, Congo Falls can be changed to Pepsi Falls and Wings Diner can be changed to Mountain Dew Diner.
June 11, 200818 yr Maybe if Pepsi comes to Kings Island, Congo Falls can be changed to Pepsi Falls and Wings Diner can be changed to Mountain Dew Diner. Ahhh.... Both Perfect Examples of Why The Park Should Want Nothing To Do With Pepsi.
June 11, 200818 yr You didn't like what was once named Pepsi Max: The Big One? Have you not seen the Coke Cool Zones?
June 11, 200818 yr You didn't like what was once named Pepsi Max: The Big One? Have you not seen the Coke Cool Zones? Yes, And Like Coke.... they Are Delivered Upon Angel's Wings! .... By The Way, WooferBear Does Not Drink Carbonated Beverages.
June 11, 200818 yr Nor does The Interpreter, for two years now....saved me enough money to buy a Six Flags pass in just a couple of months, undoubtedly...or all my park passes in a year, with money to spare.
June 11, 200818 yr Do you honestly think the new names would be any better? Not necessarily any names stated here. However, the creative minds behind ride names like Dominator and anythinghawk surely could come up with something clever.
June 11, 200818 yr They are the same peeps who came up with Beaver Land Mine Ride for a kiddie coaster, after all!
