April 7, 200818 yr Leave your own and his political views aside, love him or hate him; Scott Sloan of 700 WLW is taking on Kings Island and the recently announced decision to turn the backwards Racer forwards. His guest will be friend of KICentral and Kings Island Marketing Communications Manager: Don Helbig. If you can't pick up the Big One like me where you live, you can tune in for free online at www.700wlw.com From: http://www.700wlw.com/pages/onair_scottsloan.html Tonight @ 9 on the show, Don Helbig from Kings Island on why they decided to turn the backward Racer into a forward facing roller coaster. My mission: Save The Racer! Thanks to Brian Neal for passing this info on to me.
April 7, 200818 yr Wow I thought the off season was over for a lot of use. Who really cares Cedar Fair can do what they want.
April 7, 200818 yr The community seems very split by the decision. Many are upset, many are okay with this new change. Cedar Fair is making big changes to the park, many of them are wonderful. They are reinventing the park and this is just one way they are doing this. This is a new Island, a better Island. I look forward to being there opening day.
April 7, 200818 yr Don does best when he's without a script, this should be a good show. Will it be archived anywhere?
April 7, 200818 yr Don does best when he's without a script, this should be a good show. Will it be archived anywhere? I believe most shows on 700WLW are archived. Here is the link to his podcast page with his archived shows: Scott Sloan's Podcast Page
April 7, 200818 yr I wonder if it will be a pro's and con's or just an extended commercial? If marketing is in on this then its a commercial. They are just tring to get the word out that The Racers are back as they where when the park opened. I guess this is the new ride for 2008.
April 7, 200818 yr It will be cool to know the technical reasons as to why they did it. It's nice that people care and are trying to "save" it, but I doubt Cedar Fair is going to budge.
April 7, 200818 yr At this point I would not be surprised to see this poll on the November ballot! Ryan, People like Don have to be able to answer questions on the spot and without a script, Marketing do it all the time. Looking forward to the show.
April 7, 200818 yr ^LOL! Ya, this is just going to be a commercial. "I'm going to ride The Racer!" (*Bunch of statistics proving why you should ride it*) "Woa! Wow! Ohh, big drop, woa!" "That was a blast! I really recomend this, it's an awesome ride!"
April 7, 200818 yr Author ^What? I think it'll be interesting considering Sloan has already voiced that he opposes the decision as have many other people, think it will be a good debate for Cincinnati locals.
April 7, 200818 yr Author What is your point? It been noted that the people involved are Scott Sloan and Don Helbig, representing the park. Of Course he's going to promote the park......thats what they pay him for....to say it's going to be a commercial for the park is ignorant statement considering Sloan is opposed to the decision.
April 7, 200818 yr gotta love his suit. I suspect that Kings Island probably welcomed the idea of having a marketing rep on the airwaves of a 50,000 watt station after daytime hours.... This is a windfall advertising opportunity for them... for FREE!
April 7, 200818 yr I just wonder if there was a backlash from fans when The Racer changed direction? What was Scott's opinion when it changed direction the first time? I would think true coaster fans would not had like it when it started going backwards. Mike
April 7, 200818 yr Cunningham and Sloan are raving idiots anyway. This is almost as bad as Markey trying to pass a law against roller coasters. This is just another reason for me NOT to listen to WLW. IF they have good programming on, then I have never heard it.
April 7, 200818 yr I've known Bill Cunningham for years. Used to live in my father and step mother's neighborhood. He really is as ignorant as he comes off on the radio. It truly is not an act. It's entertaining that he really doesn't even realize it when people are making fun of him. Now his wife is not only brilliant but a very good person.

At least Sloan doesn't drunkingly im me telling me to listen to his radio show at 3 in the morning.

April 7, 200818 yr Never once have I told you that I was on the air drunk, because I dont go on the air drunk. And its not 3 in the morning, its 1am your time.
April 7, 200818 yr Author Ok, I see. It was just an "act" for your radio show It will be interesting to see if sloan fills up the first hour time slot with just The Racer discussion.
April 8, 200818 yr "Some people worry about things like who the next president is going to be, national security, ETC. I worry about The Racer."....Haha, I absolutely loved that line.
April 8, 200818 yr Author It has definitely been one amusing show. Edit: Now it seems to have turned into the American Coaster Enthusiast memory hour. Sheesh.
April 8, 200818 yr Meh. I'm not a big fan of WLW. I'm more into The Two Angry Guys on 1360 Homer. That, and the Bob and Tom Show on the Fox.
April 8, 200818 yr Some guy was saying they use to have a red, yellow, and green light on The Racer. Is this true? I have never heard that before.
