July 23, 200719 yr Sorry if this has been asked before. Since my trip to australia was hosed by the airlines, I may go ahead and head back to Cedar Point for the first time since '82 or '83. What is the most cost efficient hotel there, and what are the chances it will be overbooked? I am looking to leave wednesday if I decide to go. Once I am there, what is the best coaster to hit during the week with the shortest wait times? I have absolutely no idea what the workings are there now, or anything. My biggest interest is MF and Maverick. Thanks.
July 23, 200719 yr Knights inn was cheap clean even transports to Cedar Point very good breakfast even waffles! And Ride Maverick first (longest line), for sure it was a great coaster. Enjoy the trip
July 23, 200719 yr And ride Maverick in the very front row! In that row, it is my favorite steel. As for the other seats, for me, bleh! I'd rather sit on park bench. Honest. The front seat of the second tallest, second fastest roller coaster in the world is pretty darn cool, too! And don't forget Magnum! And the wondrously wonderful Wildcat is not to be missed (So many do. Big mistake!)
July 23, 200719 yr Maverick's line usually calls often for single riders (which is how I ended up on my first ride in row 4---a seat I absolutely loathed). I much prefer to wait for a front seat on it (and on Dragster). On the rest of the coasters, single riders are allowed, but they do not normally give them priority seating to fill trains, like they do on Maverick (usually). And unlike Kennywood, I know of NO Cedar Point coasters where single riders are prohibited, period.
July 23, 200719 yr Not on Thunderbolt. The other rider is considered part of the restraint system. NO ONE rides alone on Thunderbolt. Not ever.
July 24, 200719 yr Not on Thunderbolt. The other rider is considered part of the restraint system. NO ONE rides alone on Thunderbolt. Not ever. lol thats funny, i went to chuckecheeses, and they had a virtual coaster and i rode thunderbolt, and i was alone.
July 24, 200719 yr You know, one of those simulator thingies. I have seen The Beast and a lot of other coasters, but I have never seen one that featured a Kennywood coaster. Given how turbulent the Thunderbolt is, that would be some simulator to watch from the outside (as parents would do).
July 24, 200719 yr I don't doubt it...it's just that I have never seen one! Sure would like to. Heck, I may even have to go to Chuck E. Cheese's now. That's not one of my normal haunts!
July 24, 200719 yr My advice on riding Maverick is to get to the park at 8:45am and park your car around back by Soak City. They'll open the gate back by Magnum at 9am and then everyone will sprint to Maverick. This is the only way to avoid waiting over an hour for this ride. Also, stick to the back of the park during the early part of the day and then move towards the front at the end. Here's my top ten list of rides (including flats). 1. Maverick 2. Millennium Force 3. Skyhawk 4. Raptor 5. Wicked Twister 6. Magnum 7. Top Thrill Dragster 8. Power Tower 9. Demon Drop 10. Maxair
July 24, 200719 yr But you won't get in at 9 unless you: * Stay on property OR * Have a Joe Cool add to your Cedar Point pass OR * Have a Max pass from a Cedar Fair park OTHER than Cedar Point (this last one is widely reported to work...but why doesn't MY Cedar Fair Max pass give me gold pass perks at Kings Island? Somehow that just doesn't seem fair!)
July 26, 200719 yr Knights inn was cheap clean even transports to Cedar Point very good breakfast even waffles! And Ride Maverick first (longest line), for sure it was a great coaster. Enjoy the trip Thanks...the free internet rules!!! I am hoping it doesn't rain...but 60% chance is not very good odds I'll have to admit though, I am lost...this place is much different than it was in 83......
