  3. Decided to see if Carowinds has commented since they're being inundated with unhappy people who don't want Thunder Road to go and aren't buying Carowinds' thing about "sorry to see it go" because after all, it's their choice. While it's nice to see them try, it comes off as a bit tone deaf. "We're glad you all liked Thunder Road but we're going to tear it down anyway! We liked it a lot too so please don't hate us!" This is one of those times it's better to say nothing at all.
  4. We're both learning, Terp. Where was the wooden hyper coaster to replace Son of Beast? If we're playing eye for an eye.
  5. Got a sudden craving to ride Banshee. Don't recall that happening before. I won't be back until next month at the earliest. Ugh. Especially since the last time I rode it I was in row 3 and I found that to be the best ride I've had on it so far. No dizziness at all.
  6. Have. Not sure it's the main source of the problem considering Banshee is probably more popular and does not suffer from the same issue.
  7. Or it sounds like they could use another ride of the Diamondback sort. That could help solve this giga-sized problem. WindingSon, just pointing that out. (but seriously Diamondback operations are a real bad issue that need to be addressed) (but also the continued frothing demand for Diamondback severely points out that another ride of its type would be a good thing for KI)
  8. I don't really like answering these things because the real answer is we don't know. KI may not even know. However, I am certain they evaluate its structure from time to time to check how much time it has left. But it's important to remember: It's not even guaranteed tomorrow.

  10. Being in the Indy area, I find it hard to even know KK is there. There's a few Kings Island billboards and a few for Holiday World. Kentucky Kingdom? I thought that closed years ago!
  11. Only a few days shy of three years since this was announced. What a ride.
  12. Combine that with: http://www.bgdailynews.com/news/insurer-wants-to-dump-beech-bend/article_cf266e27-cb95-5c04-9d86-8b50f3b76d57.html

  14. The key phrase is "For the sake of it." Kennywood and Knoebels keep their old rides around because it makes good business sense. If they do it for other reasons, it doesn't usually lead to good things.
  15. There is no park chain who is interested in preserving old rides just for the sake of it. Those that did are no longer around. Think about that.
  16. Eh? It isn't now?
  17. I got my The Bat tee yesterday. I'll see about the rest on a later visit. For those who haven't seen, the shirt has this logo: With a red backdrop.
  18. I've noticed ops have started telling jokes while restraints are being checked and/or waiting for dispatch. An op on The Beast a few days ago said "What do you call it when you have your grandma on speed dial?" "Instagram." Groans from the train ensued. I also had an op on The Beast do a big spiel when getting off the ride saying a bunch of stuff about the ride and then said "And enjoy the rest of your day here at Cedar Fair Entertainment's Kings Island!" I did not expect him to be so elaborate. Also, I never get tired of this on Flight of Fear: "Countdown with me! 5, (pushes button) 4, 3" LAUNCH. Makes me laugh every time. Oh yeah, and The Bat op was very loud and enthusiastic on Wednesday. "Enjoy your ride on The Bat! The ride that goes upside down not once, not twice, but ZERO TIMES!"
  19. With enough money, anything is possible. Maverick is massively popular and still relatively new. Vortex is an old Arrow Dynamics coaster, a dying breed, that is probably on the tail end of its lifespan. And Vortex won't be closed down due to its restraints. A new train like that would cost millions. Big investment for something that may not be around for much longer. That said, cherish Vortex. I was walking down Coney Mall yesterday and it struck me just how big Vortex is and how it's a very exciting and imposing coaster to just watch. I know it won't be there some day (and I'm not saying anytime soon so please don't get mad at me, Don) and it'll be sad but that's why I don't take it for granted.

  21. I saw the show for the first time of the season on Wednesday and it was very, very impressive. I liked the new trapeze act and the other returning acts. One of the ushers also did an incredible job keeping the kiddos around us entertained and energized for the show until it started.
  22. Platform update. Still there.
  23. I'm next in line on Banshee and it goes down. Something wrong with the green train.
