  1. False equivalency. The "news" about theme parks' ride stoppages are typically more equivalent to "an accident was avoided because both drivers were alert and their brakes worked properly," and "a man walked up to a closed store and tried to open the door, finding it locked he moved on." Reporting non-dangerous non-events isn't typical of news coverage of accidents or robberies, only of things that happen at amusement parks. Probably because amusement parks are of interest to the public, but actual incidents are exceedingly rare.
  2. Dang it, BoddaH, now I feel all weepy. It was a good reminder for why I never rode them as a child though. I was particularly afraid of things that seemed out-of-control and chaotic, especially when humans were "behind the wheel" as it were. I would love to ride them now! Last time I rode the new ones, the ride op was rating which number flyers got the highest, so that added a little bit of fun and competition even though I haven't made them snap.
  3. They're killing me with it. I don't want to skip it, but Coasterstock is already going to wear me out.
  4. Grabbed this from the Coaster Crew Facebook event page.
  5. If you are ever curious about how much of the inside queues are in use, you can walk up the Fast Lane/Exit far enough to peek in before committing to entering the regular line.
  6. When I was there yesterday, the wait times listed on FUNTV sounded legitimate.

Since the line for Banshee was ridiculous by halfway through ERT yesterday, I decided to go wait for Invertigo instead. I was first in line when they opened it, but waited for the second train since four Fast Lane patrons took both ends of the first one (smart cookies buying their bands that early, and I'm sure they really paid off with how busy yesterday was). Felt good to ride it for the first time this year.
  8. It's not a wait time but Hank's is out of wraps, if anyone else is like me and wanted one Edit: not Hank's, Chicken Shack. Been out in the sun too long.
  9. sorry double post due to losing free wifi when riding the train.
  10. The fog was on earlier today. I don't know about the lights. SoB flame was out but that's not uncommon.
  11. It's fairly busy. I waited a half hour for Banshee, not sure how much of that's due to the crew. They don't seem to have hit their stride yet.
  12. I lost the wifi right about when I got to the end of the line of The Bat. It didn't surprise me.
  13. Well, I'm on the new wifi waiting in line for Banshee. So far, so good.
  14. Beast crew is on fire today, with Princess Sparkles rocking the mic!
  15. I love the stop in the middle, personally
  16. I'm addicted to the maple bacon taffy from the pick-a-mix wall. You can get six pieces for right around $1. And if you're like me, walk around for a few minutes eating them until they're gone I got more in a bag before I left the park, hopefully I can make them last the week.
  17. From what I've heard, until gold goes away for the season, there's no price difference between adult and junior passes.
  18. That thing looks vomit-inducing. But, I really like that it has changing modes and a good long ride cycle.
  19. Man, I'm sorry I missed the school bands. I did happen to catch the COSI Science and Explosions show.

It also still appeared as the sole "closed" ride listed on the red LED scrolling signs outside the entrance today.
  21. Holy crap! An elevator!
  22. Thanks shark and AZ Kinda Guy, that was exactly what I was hoping for
  23. Truly excellent! Now I want to go to Holiday World for the first time
  24. I didn't want to make a new thread for this question, and I figure this is at least a semi-appropriate place. FoF still only running partial trains this year makes it at least appear that whatever issues caused that necessity in the first place have not been yet addressed. Many of us believe it is some sort of a lack of electrical power or stability, since it started after the unfortunate "fire" of the electrical box on the side of the building that kept FoF down entirely for part of last season. Also, it has been said that the ride operators' phone communication that sometimes delays a launch until some sort of clear is given, is related to coordinating Drop Tower's and FoF's power draws, so both don't happen at the same time. It made me start wondering: what safety backups are in place for the possible (albeit unlikely) situation in which Drop Tower loses power between its release and reaching the brakes? The brakes are electromagnetic, are they not? I'm sure this is something that has to have been addressed, but not knowing exactly how it works makes me a little scared. I have an elevator phobia to some degree (I still have nightmares about it), but I became a lot less afraid when I learned about how the Otis brake works. Now my main problem with them is my dislike of being in confined spaces with other people. Eiffel Tower's elevator is particularly bad for that, and that's one of the reasons I particularly would like to be able to enjoy the view I get from DT without worrying what could happen.
  25. Yep, Flight of Fear and Firehawk should be your first choice after the main park opens. If you walk quickly, you can get a couple rides on both of them before the lines are more than a few minutes long. That's my other hint: if you are at a ride when the line is short, ride it multiple times. After FoF I usually cut over to Beast with a stopover at Backlot Stunt Coaster. I like to hit Beast before Diamondback, because I've personally found I can't appreciate Beast as much if I ride DB first. So after a couple rides on Beast, on to Diamondback and if it is a weekday, usually can get in several rides before the line expands to more than a ten minute wait (usually around noon). Banshee can be done at any time. It is my favorite purple people eater because its capacity is so high that even a longish line goes fast. And it is rare to find a longish line because it shuttles so many people through so fast. If it's not one of the special days where middle school students take over the park, it is rare to see long lines for either Adventure Express or Racer, so those can be picked up at any time.
