  1. For one, Cedar Point and Kings Island do not draw a lot from the same demographic of guests. Yes, I'm sure you know some people that attend both parks, but it's not generally true for the average park attenders. I'm betting the Orion lift was not 300ft since the drop could be accomplished without having a lift of that height, thus reducing the cost and utilizing the terrain. The Beast does the same. That is money that will be spent elsewhere in the park or on future attractions. I would like to see something go in the spot where Vortex is sooner rather than later, but who knows now that the pandemic pushed back plans by at least a year. I'm loving all of the TLC that The Racer has received and now The Beast is receiving. Should make longer lives for those iconic coasters. I was a little torn about the ornamental fountains on I.S. As much as I loved those, it was past time for an upgrade. Sometimes change is hard for me to deal with, especially with a park that I have been literally attending since the age of 1. Some of the changes have been great and some not so great. All in all, nothing that has changed swayed me from attending or sharing my love of KI with my kid.
  2. Sounds to me like a trip to Kings Island will be in order for next season. What will be new to me will be the re-tracking of The Racer and The Beast. That's enough reason for me to go. I'll have to add this in after I visit Carowinds and Kings Dominion next summer.
  3. I've been in those restrooms a number of times over the years. Those are the worst and I'd take the ones by Raptor any day over those. I'm glad they are finally paving the parking lot. As Ryan has probably noted over the years, this is a topic that has come up several times. We have complained about that lot many times. It only took 2 decades of complaining for it to get done.
  4. I like those. After clicking on the link, I went back to the souvenir list and I like the Eiffel Tower model as well. Eiffel Tower Kit
  5. After posting this, I went over to screamscape where I did find a no limits animation about the possible launch coaster. I think a launched family coaster would be a good fit, or even a Mack spinner. Appreciate your information, thoughts and input.
  6. Appears to be a significant plot of land. Anyone thinking hypercoaster? Any rumors as to what is being built?
  7. Epic! Can't believe no one commented on this suggestion. It certainly sounds better than their RCT name currently being used.
  8. I guess this really drives the nail in the coffin of the rumor about WT being re-located to Great America that many were so certain would happen since it appeared on a brochure.
  9. Personally, I'd like to see another park receive this coaster. I enjoyed it a lot. Will be interesting to see what future expansion will be in its place.
  10. @IBEW_Sparky , my experience with Thunderhawk was that it was just an ok coaster, but I never found it to be rough. I never rode it under 6F operations though. I do consider it to be the poor man's invert. B&M is the superior, obviously.
  11. I would love to see some more flat rides added. I think everyone should make suggestions as to what they would like to see added. Also, let's refrain from telling anyone their suggestions are dumb, etc. Let's keep it light and friendly. Just on a personal note, there are some definite classic flats that I miss. They would not necessarily be on the level of Delirium or Drop Tower. The Rotor, Bayern Curve and Tumble Bug. Also, I would not mind seeing a giant swing like Skyhawk added.
  12. @Browntggrr, back when I took a trip to Cedar Point around 2000, the guy I went with said he like Mantis, but his legs were really sore after riding.
  13. I only rode Disaster Transport. I found it boring and uninspired.
  14. I never had issues with either the Togo or B&M stand up coasters. I liked the B&M's better as they seemed to do a lot more. I don't think you will see any new ones as it was a fad that has died out.
  15. That is fantastic! Love seeing these types of photos of KI history. On a side note, my son thinks it's hilarious yet cool that I've been attending KI for 49 years. I was a year old the 1st time I was taken there.
  16. So, we are narrowed down to these options: Gigashed Gigastorage Gigafreestyle
  17. I haven't been on Congo Falls in years. I have noticed that there isn't much ridership as well. Even if you leave Timberwolf and Invertigo out of the equation, it opens up enough space for a nice flat ride to go in there.
  18. I received a copy of your book for my birthday, which is coming up on the 16th of this month. I have not read any of it as of yet, but I will dig into it soon. I'll let you know what I think. My brother bought it for me (and one for himself). I was just asking him the other day if the author was on KIC. I had forgotten about this thread, only to come on here today and see you discussing it on here.
  19. I'm thinking it's to cover up the fact that they plan on adding a giga bathroom.
  20. I fully agree with you on that. I don't think taller will be the next coaster addition or in the next few. Experiences are getting different all the time. Could be a Gerstlauer Infinity coaster that goes into Vortex's old spot. Could also be several other options that they can go with...dive, wing, or multi-launch, etc. It will be interesting to see what comes next.
  21. I'm thinking it broke the record for steepest drop when it debuted, although I could be wrong. Plus the horseshoe roll is a one of a kind element. Not sure if you count that as a record.
  22. This is good news. I wonder if Fastlane will also return or will it be like last summer where only season pass holders who bought that add on are allowed to use Fastlane?
  23. I voted Orion as well. This is truly a fantastic coaster addition for KI.
  24. Not sure I can pick a favorite memory. On the one hand, my first ride was with my mother and it's a great memory that I have of us going together as a family. On the other hand, riding Vortex with my son his first time was really memorable as well. He had talked about how much he wanted to ride it and The Beast. Then, when we began riding, he decided he wasn't going to. Once I got him to ride The Beast, we weren't even out of the exit when he told me that he was thinking about The Vortex. I told him that we could walk over there and look at it and then decide if he wanted to ride. Without hesitation, we got in line and he fell in love with The Vortex. So, it's a close call with which memory is better.
  25. I would say, without a doubt, CF would have invested in Geauga Lake, but it would be more closer to the level of Michigan's Adventure as opposed to KI or CP. I think they would have received more of an investment than MA, but far less than KI or CP. I think it's a shame that it did not become more of a locals park. The residents certainly did not support it, or it would not have been closed.
