KIextreme Closing
I loved their galleries of old park pictures. I was hoping one day to use their photo gallery of the Paramount Story tiles to figure out which one was which. I'm gonna have to go on there before Monday and save as many photos as I can.

2021 Royal Finale
Since Coney Mall is supposed to be themed to Cincinnati's Coney Island, why not recreate a modern version of the fountain that was there from 1965 - 1971. Top photo: Coney Island Central Bottom photo: Cincinnati Views

Controversial opinions that'll get you punched by a KI fan
Same here. I love riding it each time I visit, but it definitely needs some touching up to restore the airtime. I can't wait to try the new track this season to see how well it runs.

Controversial opinions that'll get you punched by a KI fan
Not my opinion, just a comment I read a while back: "Kings Island needs to tear down The Racer and Adventure Express because they need an update like Cedar Point." My actual opinion: They should add a double down element on the airtime hills on Racer immediately following the turnarounds, just to add more airtime.

My pleasure! It was an exciting find.

KI's Grand Carousel turns 94!
The murals on the rounding boards and on the central drum of the carousel were painted by Carole Lanter in 1969 when the ride was still at Coney Island. The restoration effort was supervised by Coney's special effects coordinator Dick Harsley and all 48 hand carved horses were repainted by Bill Tull. I attended the memorabilia sale at Coney Island on September 26, 2020 and purchased a photo of Carole Lanter repainting one of the murals during the restoration. You can also find this photo in the book "Cincinnati's Coney Island" by Charles Jacques Jr. Top: Carole Lanter painting one of the oil murals on the carousel rounding board in 1969. Bottom: The same mural at Kings Island photographed by me on October 11, 2020.

Kings Island Music
Hey KICentral! I haven't posted on here in a while, but I have been updating my Paramount era I-Street playlist, adding songs that were missing that I came across. I recently found a video from FearFest 2001. The beginning of the video features the entrance with International Street and the fountains, and you can hear the Love Theme from Chinatown by Jerry Goldsmith as well as the main theme from Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope by John Williams. However, between the two pieces, there is some sort of march being played. I've looked online to see if I could find it, listening to all movie marches I could find, but they didn't sound familiar. It sounds similar to the Washington Post March by John Philip Sousa. https://youtu.be/qBDBIaiTPwc It can be heard from 1:20 to 1:41 the video and then again at around 2:14 to 3:09. It's kinda hard to hear over the fountain and the people talking, but I was able to make out a melody and that the song was in the key of B flat. Is anyone familiar with what this march is? Thank you! Edit 2/19/2022: Song has been identified. "March from 'The Great Waldo Pepper'" by Henry Mancini performed by the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra.

On this date in 1973...
Going by when the episode aired in relation to park development that occurred shortly thereafter, and Mike Brady saying the plans were for a "new area of the park," my guess is he was the one who designed Lion Country Safari for the 1974 season.

Dinn Corporation in West Chester Ohio
I knew that. It's amazing knowing that our area played, and still plays, a significant role in the amusement industry.

Awesome! Thank you so much! I think I've passed that place many times without realizing it.

Dinn Corporation in West Chester Ohio
Hey guys, long time no post. I noticed on the Kings Island discussion page on the forum menu, a topic was brought up regarding the Dinn Corporation wooden coaster that was planned for the 1992 season before Dinn closed their operations. But there was one thing that I always found interesting about Dinn. Their headquarters were located in West Chester, Ohio, not far from Mason in Butler County. I've lived in the West Chester my entire life and have always found it amazing that a major player in the amusement industry was located there. Does anyone know where exactly they and Denise Dinn Larrick's company, Custom Coasters International (CCI), were located in West Chester?

The Flat Ride Speculation Thread
The Racer gets over 1 million riders each season with only Diamondback, Banshee, and Mystic Timbers getting more riders. It's a walk on because it can launch 60 people at a time because of the two loading platforms, compared to 28 people on Vortex and 32 people on Banshee and Diamondback.

^^^^My pleasure! They were a lot of fun to make. And yes, they play many country renditions of popular songs.

Hey! Long time no update. My Spotify playlists are ready to be released. A few songs are missing, some are unavailable, but I tried my best to get them as accurate as possible.

If I remember correctly, they played the theme to "The Pink Panther" by Henry Mancini near the end of the Paramount years.

Yes, "Fratelli Chase" by David Grusin. I was digging through old forums to see if I missed any from the original list and that was one that was listed, along with Beetlejuice by Danny Elfman, which they play during Haunt. I'll be sure to add one of the Addams Family themes, even if it isn't exact. If it ever becomes available, I'll be sure to replace it with the right track.

I found other songs from other films, such as The Goonies and Pee Wee's Big Adventure. I believe I read that they played "Moon River" by Henry Mancini from Breakfast at Tiffany's and "Chariots of Fire" by Vangelis. The only thing Addams Family related I could find, aside from the main theme from the sitcom, was a 1 minute or so long piano cover of "A Party... For Me?"

My pleasure @AZ Kinda Guy! I actually made a Rivertown playlist with the Pickin' On Series. I'm missing a few songs, but it has a good number of them.
