  1. The law in Ohio is that parks are required to follow the guidelines of the ride manufacturer. My understanding is that without approval from PTC the park is not allowed to turn the trains around. The other option is to get new trains that the park can get approval to run backwards. According to the park, this is not true. Don has stated that the park chose to turn the backward side back to forward for "nostalgia". He even removed my comment on the park's Facebook page once when I told someone what you claim here (and what I, at the time, believed). Sometimes things are said for marketing purposes; other times for legal purposes. Just like keeping hands down for KI photo shoots are for "aesthetics" I am sure legal would not want out there that the reason they switched it was because they were violating ORC...
  2. They are not from the Cincy area. AT ALL. Most are from Canada (many of them French speaking), with some from Las Vegas and elsewhere. Many went to a circus school (4 year program) to develop their craft. Most have travelled the world performing. Many of the trampoline performers in our Cirque shows were in Nationals for gymnastics and many were Olympic material. Amazing talent brought in to a regional park. Many will pay upwards of over $200 to watch one Cirque du Soleil show with many performers from our two seasons of Imagine. And ours is free with park admission.
  3. Several of the performers from Imagine are/have performing/performed in a Cirque du Soleil show this year. Trevor's is a yet to be developed show...a name hasn't even been developed yet. We really have been blessed with amazing talent in these Cirque shows - every performer is Cirque du Soleil material (most have already performed on that stage in their career already) and guests get to watch it free with park admission.
  4. kinda surprised the bird pic in The Beast photo made it out...
  5. Ironically, over in the Mystic Timbers thread countless folks defending Mystic Timbers are saying don't judge the ride until you have ridden it...
  6. This has been something that has really bothered me this season as well. We usually go after work so we get there at 4:30 and immediately use our dining plan. When we try to get our second meal for the trip home, almost every single place is already closed. Sometimes we get lucky and they have meals sitting on top of the warmers while they're breaking stuff down. And no doubt the dining plan comes into play as well with early closure of some food places, especially now with 8pm closes. Now I realize staffing issues plays a larger role and many of the food places off I-Street typically close an hour early even in the middle of the season and did so long before the dining plans even existed. The point I am making is that probably majority in park this time of year are pass holders and probably more patrons than not are using a dining plan - as has been posted on this forum before - they have your money so why cater to you, especially on a day like today? They certainly do not make any money with the lines of dining plan people at park close cashing out every season pass in their family to take home a whole pizza or more. With the addition of the dining plan, they have no incentive to try to staff food service on days like this, or even at park close. How many people at park close now are really in a food line paying cash or credit card for food - not many, most are dining plan. People paying will go to one of the many establishments outside the park at park close. As someone who gets to enter other Cedar Fair parks, from my experience, KI is the worse with the dining plans. Almost like KI doesn't support it and they hope that if it is a failure here that Cedar Fair will eliminate it. I do not see that happening.
  7. They may tell you that is the reason....another being if their commercials had hands up, you can be sure an attorney would enter that as evidence in the future when some idiot does something stupid as a result of having hands up...argument being "well look the park allows hands up so my client assumed he wouldn't lose a hand..."
  8. But, it was early and wasn't even a station wait at the time of the shoot. More guests were inconvenienced when they made Bert and crew get off the Diamondback train and send it out EMPTY - that's right nobody was on it, and waited for the train to cycle back into the station before allowing Bert and crew to re-enter their seats from the exit side. That particular train was decked out with many cameras to get lots of angles and ride shots and guests facial expressions on the ride so they had to ride that particular train. Cameras and crew were there and ready well before park opening. Bert on the other hand was a little late lol but the shoot wasn't even supposed to be until after park open anyway...
  9. Princess Sparkles does her job well and should be supervisor already. Unlike network tv shoots, these internet sensation illegal on-ride videos creates tons of copy cats by the casual guests that will not have such camera secure..
  10. No doubt that the no re-ride policy (even for a TV show) is what bumped the Bert the Conqueror episode from being a entire episode about Kings Island or at least the premier park of that particular episode. Instead Holiday World got top billing for the episode. Instead of putting on display Diamondback, we get a hey lets ride Vortex since we are close by lol Not surprising at all that Diamondback didn't get top billing and surprised it even made B-roll footage given the events that happened that day during filming at Diamondback...
  11. Marigold - we are going on 5 days with no Jorge....
  12. New juggler. No paint or act to take its place. BUT...he may be back....and many may stay and perform until August 21st....(original end date was the 14th)
  13. And then Jorge was gone...
  14. Let's hope the train re-route does not eliminate the stop at Soak City - but if it is, we can expect Soak City to be separate admission...
  15. ^LOL - I mean the theater were Origins is at Edit - dang we posted at same time!
  16. While not a coaster, Dollywood is quick to remove a ride not meeting expectations.... Timber
  17. Well at two rides and have to get off, that is more of a re-ride than they let Bert the Conqueror with Travel Channel do October 2015 . Which by the way, said footage never aired on his season that came and went this summer. Not surprised...
  18. My prediction is the movies will be in the Theater...
  19. Hmmm - wonder how they will deal with the no re-ride policy?
  20. Looking at another perspective, look at the daily flights leaving Cincinnati (OK I know it is in Northern Kentucky. Actually it is in Boone County and is run by the Kenton County Airport Board which has a Cincinnati address lol) and compare it to the flights at Charlotte. You are hard pressed in Cincinnati to see anymore at night 8-11 planes lining up in the skies making their final descent into the airport (lucky to see 2 now), yet watching the skies at Carowinds reminds me of what it used to look like here. From 1997 to 2005, Cincinnati averaged over 20 million passengers yearly. We are now down to about 6 million passengers per year. During that same time period, Charlotte also averaged over 20 million passengers yearly. Yet today, they have averaged over 44 million passengers per year for the past several years compared to our measly 6 million. You invest where the people are. Many companies have relocated from Cincinnati to Charlotte, or expanded to Charlotte. Chiquita was one that relocated (although they have since left), while Cincinnati Insurance Company and Cardinal Solutions have opened up offices there, as has TQL. The weather is "better" there and the park can stay open more days. Countless other reasons I am sure can be added. While I would love to see KI get the investments, it truly is a smart decision to expand Carowinds and make that the CP of the south. Let's just hope they don't forget about giving KI some love.
  21. Will not see a most consecutive ride record made at a Cedar Fair park anytime soon
  22. And yet oddly enough, they will touch used souvenir cups that have been who knows where (taken into bathrooms at KI and used touched by many folks that don't wash hands after using facility) and yet that is ok for them to then give the next person a drink after touching an unsanitary cup, or worse yet, see them when short staffed then go back to preparing meals without washing hands or changing gloves? I mean lets face it, I know many folks that never wash their cup because it isn't dishwasher safe, and I am sure that is probably the norm - splash around some water inside and pour out and call it good lol. Just another reason why refill cups should only be allowed at self-serve refill stations that do not serve food. and why not just use a water bottle at a water fountain?
  23. ^^^^Vortex running today ^^and sadly those larger water cups at the Shack are now gone
  24. They are sold near Eiffel Tower, um, wait, wrong Cedar Fair park I have not seen them sold at Kings Island.
  25. Was Coasting for Kids discontinued because of the no re-ride policy? I stated in another thread (thread has since been removed but not because of what I posted), but the no re-ride policy negatively impacted a Bert the Conqueror taping on 10/31/15 and it appears as if the final episode may be tonight and if so the footage taped at KI never aired, which I didn't expect to be after what transpired that October morning. Free publicity and marketing opportunity wasted.
