Banshee Construction Progress
If you live in town and have a season pass (and it wouldn't cause a work conflict), I'd suggest going at least long enough to see how crowds are. This is the first time that I can remember Opening Day falling on a weekday. As such, there may not be terrible crowds. With it also being a holiday (and one that many get the day off work for) it is very hard to estimate how crowds will be. The only way to know is to go (or look at webcams, but that isn't nearly as FUN. Personally, I think I may go after work, even if it's crowded to the point that I/we wouldn't get to ride anything. I want in the park so bad right now, I'd go now (even in this cold) if they'd let me.

You Know It's the Off Season When...
Maybe it's the bitter, bitter cold talking ...but somehow, this doesn't make me feel better. Can't it be April now?!

All trademarks always capitalized. When referring to something other than a trademarked item, such as a beast, you do not have to capitalize. Whereas, when you are talking about The Beast roller coaster, please capitalize. Hope all is well and welcome back! THANKS! I was just curious. I see all of this talk of proper capitalization and trademark stuff and wondered to myself "Either we (we as in KIC as a whole) got in trouble for something, or this off season has just been reeeaaaaaaally slow!" lol

Banshee Construction Progress
So, zombiejane is late to the game as usual! So, this capitalization of trademarks... do this apply to all trademarks? or just those that apply to KI? Are the trademarked words to be capitalized all the time? or just when in reference to the trademark item? (ex. The Beast vs. a beast). Have I missed anything else while I've been away?

Intanim dying a slow death?
What I meant by that is that there is more wrong with it than the accident that shut it down. lol

Intanim dying a slow death?
That ride won't truly be"fixed" until they deal with the balancing issues.

Intaminitis
I don't mean to offend...but after the first hill, Millennium Force is a bit of a snooze-fest.

Membership Vs Season Pass?
Unlikely indeed....but it would be kind of awesome! It could be the amusement park enthusiast version of mall walking!

Defunct Parks
there are usually videos of youtube of other people going through these parks. save yourself the hassle, and possible criminal charges if you're caught, and watch the videos!

First Trip To Haunt
I've only been to Haunt on a Saturday once. During the day wasn't too bad. As soon as the night time crowd arrives, it's a totally different story.

Drinking Alcohol in the Parking Lot
Whether you agree with it it not, the rules are in place for a reason. With that being said, when you're at the park, be respectful and do your drinking/smoking in designated areas. While many of you argue that there is nothing wrong with one or two drinks in the parking lot while having lunch, others may drink more and become a risk to others in the lot/park/roads. And, it's harder to monitor consumption in the parking lot than it is in the park. I also had my previous car damaged by an inebriated man thinking it would be REALLY FUN to climb all over my car...so, there is that aspect. (while it didn't happen at KI, there always is that possibility).

"Fort Washington" House?
I've always wanted to see that house....

RSVP For KIC's 10th Birthday Now!
Malem - thanks for the responses regarding children under 13 - no disrespect, but I am looking for a moderator to respond. Straight from the TOS - "Children should always get permission from their parents before sending any information about themselves (such as their names, email addresses, and phone numbers) over the Internet, to us or to anyone else. We won’t knowingly allow anyone under 13 to register with our site or to provide any other personally identifying information. If you’re under 13, please do not provide us with any personally identifying information about yourself (such as your name, your email address or your phone number)." Isn't requiring everyone that wants to attend the KIC event knowingly allowing someone under 13 to register, or under the revised RSVP notice are those under 13 now not allowed? A post that stated those under 13 could attend was removed when the revised RSVP notice came out indicating everyone attending would need a KIC username. I did not see in the TOS where it states that a parent should set one up for a child under 13? Plus, one needs a valid email address (not already used) in order to activate the account, so isn't that providing "personally identifying information" for a child? I am not trying to be difficult, but I am sure some will be ticked if they show up with kids in tow and Guest Services says "Sorry this one under 13 is not allowed to receive a lanyard and attend the events". I asked whoever runs the KIC facebook page. When I asked, I mentioned that we have a 6 yr old. The answer I got back is that EVERYONE attending needs an account. SO, I took that to mean that we needed to make an account for lil' man, and we did.

RSVP For KIC's 10th Birthday Now!
We RSVP-ed twice... but the first one sent was before minor children needed a KIC account. The 2nd was sent to correct that. Ooopsies. Now, I'm all sorts of excited for the Banshee construction tour Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

RSVP For KIC's 10th Birthday Now!
That was originally the case, but since some people chose to abuse that leeway, it was taken away from us. Grrr.. good thing I saw this then. We registered the day the info was posted. We weren't 100% sure at the time if it was okay that our 6 yr old isn't registered, but then saw the post that minor children were fine. I would have hated to have arrived on Sunday to find out we couldn't participate because Junior wasn't a member.

I thought I saw a post a few days ago that stated that minor children (those under 13) did not need to have an KIC account... I are confuse-ed

Resurrection
I still haven‘t gotten used to the newer names of some rides.

What ride would you not ride at Kings island.
I don't like Firehawk or Invertigo. Both are just too uncomfortable for me to enjoy.
-
Diamondback restraint thoughts
The ride was running empty for a little while after what happened to Zombieninja. We don't know for how long though... but more than just a full cycle.

2013 Trip Report, Part III (Ohio State Fair)
Ha! I learn something new everyday. I worked at the Beavercreek Toys R Us for over 12 years and had no idea that Beavercreek had a Popcorn Festival!

taking young kids in late October
Get to a measuring station early. The main place is over by Boo Blasters and the line for that can get long.. I've heard of a 2nd station, but I don't know where it is. Once they are measured, they'll get a colour coded wrist band according to their height. It makes getting through the lines easier so you don't do a lot of waiting to find out they are too short. Even if they aren't tall enough to ride a lot of the rides, there are usually a ton of activities to keep them occupied.

Do you wear a fanny pack to parks
Interesting. I have used my credit card at KI in the past, but have not always been asked for ID. Sometimes they ask for it, sometimes they don't. I always bring my ID, but have never been carded.

Do you wear a fanny pack to parks
We always-always-always bring a hip-pouch with us. I burn easy, so I bring sun-screen. I'm also completely freaking blind w/out my glasses... After breaking my last pair on Alpengeist, I need a case to keep the new ones safe and my pockets aren't big enough to house that.

Shoot The Rapids boat flips over with riders
It's sad to see that StR had an accident, and that people were injured, but I can't say that I'm surprised. After our last ride on StR, we vowed "NEVER AGAIN!" Every time we've ever ridden it before, the ride ops were very choosy as to who sat in which row. Heavier people went in the front, smaller in the back. They said something about balancing the weight to keep the boat from capsizing. We didn't really think that much about it, until our final ride... We were placed in the front, though we were not the largest in the group loaded (but that's not really what I'm getting at). When our boat left the station, it began to tilt to the left. This wasn't a slight tilt either. My side of the boat was actually coming up out of the water and my b/f's side was almost low enough to start taking on water. The boat had inadvertently been loaded with all of the smaller people on the right and the larger on the left. We estimated that there was a 300 - 400 lb weight difference between each side. With the kind of restraints that ride has, I found myself wondering "if the boat tips over, how do we get out? How do we keep from drowning?" Of all of the rides I have ever been on, this one has scared me the most.

Trip Tips for Kings Island in October
Two years ago this October, we went on a Saturday. During the day it was fairly slow, during the evening it was packed.
