Flight of Fear and Weather
About a week ago, it was raining pretty hard, and there was some thunder and lightning, so I got in line for Flight of Fear, figuring it would be open. It was, until about 40 minutes through the line, the ride closed for severe weather. So FOF may close during storms. I'm not sure if it always does.

Kings Island 5-31-13 PTR
To celebrate the last day of school, I headed to Kings Island with my mom and sister last Friday. We decided to head to Diamondback first. But, when we got there, a message about severe weather played over the loudspeakers, and Diamondback was closed. So, I decided to head for Flight of Fear, while apparently one of my sisters friends got to the park, so they headed to the front gate. A 90 minute wait time was posted, and the whole outdoor queue was filled. It was pouring outside now, and there was some lightning and thunder. About 30 minutes later, when I was about to enter the hangar section, lots of people were walking backwards in the line saying that the ride was shut down. When I entered, I saw the whole queue filled, and lots of people exiting. An employee in line told us that the ride was down due to the severity of the storm. After 35 minutes, I put my raincoat on and got ready to leave the line, as I agreed to meet at the Eiffel Tower about 30 minutes from now. So, as soon as I was about to go, cheers erupted, the TV’s in line turned on, and Flight of Fear was back open! So, I decided to stay in line, and waited about 20 minutes from there, and had a great ride on Flight of Fear, after about an overall 90 minute wait. I walked to the Eiffel Tower, and got there only a few minutes late. My sister and her friend were out doing whatever, so I was with my mom. We headed to Diamondback for our 2nd attempt at riding. 10 minutes through the line, when we were on the stairs, a message played, and Diamondback closed, again. We decided to see if Woodstock Express was still open, and it was, so we headed for Woodstock Express. Woodstock was walk on, and a fun ride on the best coaster in Planet Snoopy. When we got off, it started pouring, and we heard the ride ops announce the closure of Woodstock behind us, as another storm moved in. We dashed through the pouring rain to the Snoopy Boutique. We discussed what to do, and we decided we were hungry, so we headed to the Reds Hall of Fame Grille for my 2nd time. On opening day, we took the wrong receipt, and wasn’t able to give our waitress our tip. Somehow, we had her again, and gave her, her tip from last time. She was very happy about that. Something I noticed was that some of the prices went up, like a full rack of ribs from $19.99 to I believe $22.99. We decided to split the shortstop ribs, and 12 pieces of boneless wings. The food didn’t take too long to get here. I decided to try the ribs, and they were MUCH better than last time on opening day when they were dry and overcooked. The wings were also really good, and besides the price raises, everything was great. When we left the restraint, I saw Diamondback open, which we have tried to ride already twice, so we headed there. The wait was only about 5 minutes, and it was raining, and I was now able to know what it feels like to have baby rocks fly 80 miles per hour at your face. Luckily, I had my raincoat on, so I put my hood over my face, and I was better. And this is when the fun started. And in the gift shop, I found this. That’s a mini Son of Beast! C’mon T-Shirt designers, that’s not The Beast! And I guess this park has “The Crypt” and “Boomerang Bay” still. Anyways, we headed to The Beast now, which was a station wait. And it was a lot of fun, on the world’s longest wooden roller coaster! Our next stop on the Great Kings Island coaster tour was the next nearest coaster, Backlot Stunt Coaster. It was a station wait for the front row. Unfortunately, there were no fire effects on, but it was still a lot of fun! Then was the first coaster with 6 inversions, Vortex. There was also just a station wait for Vortex. I rode in my favorite seat, 7-1, and had a great ride. WindSeeker had a small line of people ready for it to open for the first time since 4, so we joined those people. WindSeeker reached the bottom from a test cycle, then a couple minutes later the ride opened, and it was obviously a walk on. It was a nice, windy ride on WindSeeker! From the top of WindSeeker, I saw Firehawks line wasn’t outrageous, so I headed there, also considering I wasn’t able to ride it yet this year. The line ended up being only about 10 minutes. It was a fun flight on Firehawk! We were going to ride Flight of Fear, but we saw the line extend out of the building, and I didn’t want to wait in all the indoor switchbacks if they were still filled, and I already rode it today, so we decided not to ride Flight of Fear. Our next stop on the Great Kings Island coaster tour was The Racer, which was racing an hour ago, but was not now, probably because it was not necessary. It was a cycle wait for the Red Racer, and a fun one as well. Next was the Puddle, I uhh mean Adventure Express. There was a really deep, unavoidable puddle in the queue. Once we made it passed that, we arrived in the 100% empty Adventure Express station. So, we rode in the front row. It was a great ride on the parks only hybrid coaster! We took a quick peak through the construction fence. We then headed for Flight Deck, which had the gates open so we literally walked right on into a row. It was a fun quick ride on Flight Deck! Our next stop was Drop Tower, which my mom chickened out on, as always. It was a cycle wait, and a fun ride! A great ride for looking at construction, but please don’t take pictures. And now, what coaster outside of Planet Snoopy have we not rode today? If you guessed Vortex, your wrong! If you guessed Invertigo, your right. Invertigo was just a cycle wait, and another great ride! It was starting to get dark, so we headed to The Beast for a “night” ride. The Beast only had a station wait, so it wasn’t completely a night ride. There was also my new favorite ride op entertaining the riders and station. Ride Op: “Is there anything out there that can beat The Beast?” Crowd: Various answers Ride Op: “Whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa, who’s the trouble maker who said Diamondback”?! A few hands rise. Ride Op: “Diamondback may be taller than The Beast, but The Beast, will always be at the TOP, of the food chain!” Crowd Cheers. So, it was a fun semi-night ride on The Beast! It was about 9:30 now, so we decided to do something we’ve never done, fireworks on the Eiffel Tower. Eiffel Tower’s line was longer than any in the past couple of hours, but it was just a cycle wait. We looked around the lighted up park, and got a spot for a great view of the fireworks. The fireworks went off, behind and to the left of The Racer, and went on for about 5 minutes. It was a great way to tap off a great day, as we then left the park! A couple of notes: *Except for storms, I didn’t see anything go down for the whole day. *If there’s a chance of storms for a few hours, and the park’s not closing for a bit, wait it out. Get something to eat, watch a show, or shop, and you won’t regret staying. *No better way to kick off summer! Thanks for reading!

Fast Pass or no?
The weather also looks iffy all day, and if its like yesterday, there could be hours of rain, and when the rains gone, so are the crowds. But if its your only visit all year and you have the money, you should get Fast Lane. And if you or your kids have an interest in Dino's, or if you just want to take a break from riding rides, then should go, otherwise probably not. I hope you enjoy your visit!

Kings Island 5-19-13 and 5-20-13 Double PTR
Last Sunday, I, my mom, and my sister headed to Kings Island for Brady Bunch Day. It was foggy and cool at the start of the day. We got there at about 9, a half hour before ERT, and I was shocked to see a long line for the entrance. So, after about 20 minutes, the gates opened up. A line formed for Gold Pass entrance, which opened in about 5 minutes. ERT started, and we headed off to Diamondback. We waited just about a cycle to get on. The ride was tons of fun, as always. When we got off, I was surprised that there was already a line for Diamondback during ERT, which told me it was going to be a busy day. After this, we decided to head to the world’s longest wooden roller coaster. We waited a couple of cycles before getting on. It was a nice, awesome, fast ride. When exiting, we could hear the national anthem playing over the loudspeakers. So, we decided to head over to Flight of Fear. Of course, it was closed. They didn’t want to ride Firehawk, so we headed to The Racer. We passed a few news trucks (Channels 9 and 19) on the way. We rode on the only open Red side. We waited about a cycle and got a fun airtime filled ride on The Racer! We thought about then heading to Adventure Express, but that was closed too. We ended up going to Delirium, and waiting about 5 minutes. A good ride to check out construction for a few seconds, before being forced back down. Next, my sister and I headed for Drop Tower. I thought we would get on the next cycle, but the Fast Laners proved me wrong, and we were just short. We got on the cycle after that, and had a fun ride. Another good ride to check out construction on. I stopped by the construction site for a split second. We decided to get 1 more ride in before heading to The Brady Bunch show, and Lucy wanted to do Viking Fury. We walked onto Viking Fury and had a good ride. We then decided to head to The Brady Bunch show. There was a huge line that had already formed for the show. I didn’t expect to see this big of a line a whole hour before the show started. The line stretched passed the KI Hall of Fame. We waited for my dad to come, and he did in a little bit. At about 11:45, the line started to move. We found 4 seats in the very back row to sit in. It was a really good show, with lots of singing by Barry Williams (Greg), lots of old clips, and more. It was hard for me to get a good picture. Here’s a video with some clips from the show. Dad then wanted to head to Adventure Express, so we headed there. The wait was about 15 minutes, and almost had the whole queue filled up. The ride was lots of fun! After that, my dad headed home, as he was to have a rough day of coaster riding the next day. We decided to get a little something to eat. I wasn’t that hungry and we ended up going to Coca-Cola Marketplace. I got some watermelon. While it wasn’t’ the best, it was nice to eat considering it was hot outside now. When we were walking we ran into one of Lucy’s friends. They talked a bit, before we decided to drop Lucy off with them for a while. This was a big plus, cause as usual, she was being very rude and cranky. We decided to try to meet up with Beastie1980, and found her in line for Delirium. During this time, I decided to check out the construction site for a bit. We also got some water. We met Beastie1980, her friend, her mom, and her dad. We wanted to do Invertigo, but they didn’t want to wait in the line. We decided to head towards Flight of Fear. On the way, we stopped for a ride on the Blue Racer due to its short 5 minute wait. It was a great ride. When we got to Flight of Fear, and estimated wait time of 1 hour was posted. I didn’t mind waiting for it, but Melissa decided not to. She wouldn’t wait in it. But, my mom kind of thought the way the crowds were that the routine would be heading to a ride but backing out because of the long line, so my mom and I decided to ride. All of the outdoor switchbacks were filled. I was happy to see when I entered no extra queue indoors being used. We watched the movie and continues thru the line. There seemed to be a new routine, I’m not sure if it’s new for this year or just for today. But we were stopped when we got to the top of the steps in the flying saucer, and that’s were Fast Lane line and standby line merged together. At least with this routine, I walked right on to the ride after this. The total wait was about 45 minutes. It was an epic ride on Flight of Fear! My mom and I were getting hungry, so we stopped at Potato Works in Coney Mall for some chicken tenders. We decided to take them to the Festhaus due to the hot temps. When we walked into the Festhaus, Rock ‘n’ Roll Never Forgets was playing. They were singing short bits of Michael Jackson songs. It was a nice show, for the 5 minutes of it we saw. Just as the show finished and we finished our chicken, XGatorHead8904 showed up. We talked for a short bit about the day and how he liked Gatekeeper and stuff. We were going to leave soon, so we suggested heading up the Eiffel Tower, so we all headed there. We walked right on to Eiffel Tower when it was filling up. We got to the top, and I took a few pictures. So, after about 5 minutes of looking around, we headed down. We said goodbye to Gary and met up with Lucy at the front gate. We headed home to meet my dad and his friend, who is blind, and was heading to Kings Island the next day. Here’s a video from the day. I was to be in school most of the next day, but I still got to the park for about an hour or so in the evening, which brings me to… Part 2: Monday, June 20th, 2013 I got to the park around 3:30ish, and was with my mom and sister, while my dad was with his friend who is blind, Jed, in the festhaus. They already changed the Brady Bunch poster thing. We found them finishing up ice cream. Jed talked about some of his favorite coasters from the day and stuff. We headed to Diamondback, one of his favorites from the day. The line was a total of about 10 minutes, and there was no separator in the station, which made it crowded. Jed rode with me, and he had to have his hand on my shoulder so he could know where he was, and not run into anything. It was a really FUN ride! We then decided to head to The Beast, if the line wasn’t too long (sounding familiar?). We stopped by the Reds hall of fame Grille, because when we visited on Opening Day, we took the wrong receipt or something, and were not able to give the waiter a tip. Apparently, the waiter wasn’t here, so we decided we might pay when we come back next time. There was a lot of people getting into line for The Beast, but we realized there wasn’t really a line though, and it was just a station wait. It was a great ride! Then, my dad had to head out to meet up with Jed’s friend, who was going to take him back home, as I had a baseball game soon. So, I was Jed’s guide. Sure, I wasn’t the best guide, I actually ran him into a recycling bin on the way to Dodgems. But I could’ve been way worse. Dodgems was a literal walk on, and something Jed hasn’t rode today. Think about it, a blind guy, on Dodgems. When I was riding, I saw him going in a lot of circles. It was funny. It was a good ride. We then had time for one more ride, which ended up being the Red Racer. It was just a station wait, and a fun ride as well! I also… uhh… ran him into a couple poles in The Racer line. So, we then headed out of the park and I headed to my game. (Which was a thrilling finish, we won 9-8) Here’s a video from Monday. A couple of notes: *I didn’t notice anything down for long-term during one of the days. *It’s different navigating somebody who is blind. *Sorry for the delay in reports, as soon as schools out they should come quicker after trips. Thanks for reading!

I could care less what the color of the ride is as long as it's a good ride. If you could care less, then you do care some. jcgoble3, beating Terpy to the punch Wish I had the guts to tell my teacher whenever he says "I could care less about your conversation" or something like that, that if he could care less, he cares some. Gotta play it safe though.

Kings Island 5-11-13 PTR
Last Saturday, I was watching my sister at a skating show, when I was told my friend Nathan invited me to come to Kings Island with him. After the show, I went home, got ready, headed to my friend’s house, and went to Kings Island. There was Nathan, Nathan’s dad, and his 2 younger siblings, 8 year olds, Owen and Emma. Nathan’s dad took Owen and Emma to Planet Snoopy and we agreed to meet at 1PM at the Eiffel Tower. So, Nathan and I decided to start off on the Eiffel Tower. We got into line as they were getting people on, and we were just short of getting on the next ride. So, we waited about 5 minutes before the next elevator came down. We went into the elevator and headed on up. By the looks of it, Diamondback had just opened up as we got to the top, so we decided to make that our next stop before the line gets extremely long. We also checked out construction. Sorry for the quality, it’s a digital zoom. There was lots of buses for music in the parks! So, after observing all the fun from the Eiffel Tower, we headed to Diamondback. When in line, they opened up the switchback leading into the queue house, which just kept filling up as the day went on. New signs in Diamondbacks queue. So, after waiting about 15 minutes, we got onto Diamondback. It was a great first ride of the year on Kings Island’s tallest and fastest coaster! (At least for now…) Next, we agreed on heading to WindSeeker. It was great to see WindSeeker kicking again! We ended up having to wait again, just like on Eiffel Tower, at the front of the line for the next cycle. We waited about 15 minutes to ride WindSeeker. We waited in our seats for what seemed like forever until the ride started. Now that WindSeeker is open, WindSeeker is where you can get the best view of the new evacuation system. After a fun, cold, windy ride on WindSeeker, we realized we were running short on time until 1. We decided to check if Adventure Express had a short enough line to get a quick ride in. Isn’t this the spot for the Flight Commander queue line? Oh, and there is a sweet looking Colts flag on that fence over there. When we got to the entrance, we decided not to risk waiting in the somewhat long line to be late. We decided for our last 20 minutes to go over and look at the construction site. No more water tower. Xtreme Skyflyer’s new sign. Someone already ripped the sticker. What happened to Servatti? When we got to the Eiffel Tower, it took about 20 minutes for the others to come as well. Once they finally got here, we discussed on something to eat. Nathan and I ended up going to Hanks, and we would meet the others after in the Festhaus. There was a long line at Hanks, that moved so slow. I finally ordered my Taco Salad. Nathan waited for me, as he wanted “a hamburger”. When I got everything, Nathan’s dad said they headed to Chick-Fil-A as the Festhaus was packed. I found a seat next to the huge Chick-Fil-A line as Nathan went to PS Grill to get a burger. I ate my Taco Salad, and eventually Nathan got back with a hamburger and Owen, Emma, and Brian shared Chick-Fil-A. I wasn’t able to finish my taco salad, but still, $7 is not a bad price for something at Kings Island that I wasn’t able to finish. We discussed on what to do next, and decided on heading to Adventure Express. Emma and Brian waited for us, as Emma wasn’t ready to ride yet. This was going to be Owen’s first ride. There was a full queue that ended up taking about 20 minutes. I had a separator notice my KIC shirt, and wondered what my username was. Hmm… Wonder if he is on here… Anyway I got into row 3-2 and Owen and Nathan were behind me. There was a problem with the exit gate, that eventually got fixed, and everyone in the station cheered. So after that, we set off on our mysterious adventure through 4 tunnels, twists and turns, and a mysterious, big, wood, oh wait. It was clear to see that SOB took up a HUGE amount of space on the ride. The ride was, as always, lots of fun, and Owen really enjoyed his first ride on AE. After that, we met Emma and Brian in Coney Confections, and we split up yet again, as they went off to some more new adventures… We decided on heading to Flight Deck. The line started about where this picture was taken and ended up being about 30 minutes. We went into the front row, the pilot’s seats. Our previous mission, to destroy SOB, has been completed. We weren’t sure what our next mission would be, until Great Wolf Lodge started attacking! We had a slight slowdown on our way up, but we were able to manage our way to the top. Then suddenly, we were hit! We were sent straight down, so fast, then up and down again! We twisted and turned until we reached the Flight Deck again. Good thing we got away! I suggested our next stop to be Grand Carousel. We waited about 5 minutes until we boarded our ponies and went in a circle. A nice, calm ride. We then worked our way towards Vortex. We ran into the others on our way past Backlot. They were going to ride Backlot, but the line was an hour. It turns out they Owen and Emma rode WindSeeker for the first time, and enjoyed it. We then proceed our way towards Vortex. Here, I liked how it looked like Diamondback was running into Vortex. We waited a total of about 25 minutes and rode in 5-1. It was a great ride on Vortex! We decided next to head to Zephyr. Zephyr was about a 10 minute wait. A nice ride on a swing, yeah. Nathan wanted to do Dodgems, so we went there. We waited about 5 minutes. I purposely bumped him. A lot. After this, I kind of wanted a snack, so I bought a churro. It was about $4 and it was pretty long. It was pretty good. We took a walk through Tower Gardens on our way to International Street. We headed onto International Street and waited for the others. They soon caught up, and we headed out, and with that, our trip ended. A couple of Notes: *I didn’t notice anything closed today, surprisingly. *On a crowded day, it’s always nice to go around and ride some of the smaller flat rides. *I’m really curious about that construction. Thanks for reading!

Most Embarrasing Thing That Happened To You At KI
I don't really call this that embarrassing, but a few years ago I was in line for Flight of Fear, and had a group of teenagers in front of me, and I could tell some of them were scared. Then one turned around to me and she was like "This little kid is riding and he's not scared! Have you rode this before"? I said I do all the time, and then they go back to their group complaining that a "6 year old" can ride it with no problem, but they are scared, or something like that. Like I said, it was a few years ago, so I can't remember it all that well.
