While I do know that, at least since that last season, that The Beast does not start back up right away after fireworks, but I don't totally remember for how long. I'm guessing 30 mins at most if no mechanical issues are present.

Yes, you get the special perks at ALL Cedar Fair parks, no matter which one you bought your Platinum pass. To my knowledge, all parks are charging $150 for adult platinum passes.

Still in Columbus for spring quarter at OSU. Unfortunately, I will be missing this historic day.

LOL... I drove from Washington down I-95 to KD and BGE 4 years ago and saw those signs. I'm sure that they mean that the Virginia highway patrol has aircraft that monitors traffic behaviors... if they notice reckless/extreme/fast driving, they'll radio to the cruisers on the ground to watch out and possibly catch them. But then again, someone did photoshop a fighter plane into someone's side view mirror where this sign was seen...

They claim it's to look into putting new stuff in the area... Or to simply trim costs as Six Flags is in deep debt.... not to mention the new 18+ year old ride operator law recently passed in Kentucky.

I will be going Sunday as part of an OSU trip, and then hopefully CoasterMania! I also saw a new CP commercial on local TV in Columbus tonight.

I was doing Racer (first "big kid ride" for me) around age 7, then The Beast at age 9. (Adventure Express was new that year, which I did.) Vortex at 11, (also Top Gun/Flight Deck new year, did it too). King Cobra at 12. Of course, that year (1994) was my first Kings Island season pass, and not only were my fears conquered, I began developing an obsession for KI, parks, and coasters.

Heck, if I were in charge, I'd add a selection of classic rock to the Int. St. soundtrack that might make some of you vomit. I liked the instrumental movie-like soundtrack, but after a while it just got old on me.

1. Antique cars, powered electrically 2. Go-karts, on a longer, Formula-1 style track, also electric 3. Sky Ride 4. Flying Scooters, either coming back from Carowinds, or evem brand new. 5. Ferris Wheel/Double Wheel

I remember this service being offered at Six Flags, at least as of last year.

I've seen Sharon, Lois & Bram; Wild & Crazy Kids; "Weird Al" Yankovic (2-3 times); Styx; a Pink Floyd laser show, and the Sean Hannity Freedom Concert (LeAnn Rimes, Lee Greenwood, Montgomery Gentry). I think I also worked at the park during Britney Spears in '99. The surroundings ain't bad, but the amphiteatre itself is nothing special. You have to leave the premises to use the restroom, and it is overall not so good compared to other outdoor venues. If it were me, I'd make TimerWolf more intimate, maybe cover the closer sections, add resrtrooms and permanent concession stands. Or taer it down and build a new attraction.

While it's not necessarily a frightening experience for me, as it happened Saturday on Adventure Express, I'd prefer that it not happen. For one, what if there's severe weather in the area when this is happening? What if I need to use the bathroom? Or better yet, I'd like to simply do something else?!

Definitely pleased with my Crypt experience today. Surely, there could have been some strobe lights and such, but the program was simply better than as Tomb Raider.

I've thought of it as a tie between Fun Spot in Angola, IN and Beech Bend Park in Bowling Green, KY. The atmosphere and charm of a Wal-Mart parking lot, along with rides just as unique. However, with the addition of Kentucky Rumbler, Beech Bend has risen in my book. I honestly don't have a hate of any park, I pretty much like them all. The degree of how much I like them varies, of course.

One Side Says "Nost" and the other side says "Algia" Or "Hope" on one side, and 'Change" on the other? (it's a big election year, so j/k) Really, I think the "Red Racer" and the "Blue Racer" logos look a bit too small, though the Kings Island logo on the bottom isn't bad.

Building a smaller venue like the National City Pavilion is a smart move to capture smaller shows, with there being fewer big acts to fill the main Corbett Pavilion at Riverbend. In fact, Germain Amphitheater near Columbus is for sale, supposedly having hosted its last concert (Toby Keith) last fall, because there are fewer large acts touring. Germain's demise is also due to the presence of big indoor year-round venues like Nationwide Arena and Schottenstein Center, the smaller Lifestyle Communities Pavilion, and now Crew Stadium (designed for soccer) now having a permanent stage. Other large amphiteaters are facing the same fate, such as the one near Indianapolis, due to rising land values, less dates, and competition from smaller and larger multipurpose venues.

I noticed they took down the columns and sign that stood in front of the Theater from the Paramount days. Looks better IMO.

I have seen the 1974 guide before, which was not much different than the 1972, save for some new attractions and the introduction of Lion Country Safari. There's something about the simple use of the Helvetica* font that also makes these park guides very good. Sometimes flashy graphics like funky fonts and swooshes are too distracting. *The one most of us confuse with Arial. More on this in another thread...

I'm sure you mean "IX Indoor Amusement Park..." I've never been to it... If I had another pressing reason to visit Cleveland, I might go...

Johnny Gilbert isn't around, so I'll show you something that I won:

Coney's Tom Ryan was at Winter SOAR tonight, talking about the new rides, as well as Coney's history. Everyone that went got some memorabilia and posters. Sure, Coney Island may not be a mega-park, but it sure is serving its purpose very well these days.

I will be heading home from Columbus for Spring Break on Saturday, so I look forward to coming!

Of course, consider that Cedar Point and Kentucky Kingdom are in different situations... CP is located in a smaller less populated area, and due to their 18-year policy of ride operations, on-site housing exists, whereas SFKK is located in Louisville and is part of a greater metro area. No doubt they rely on high school students. IMO, another law with good intentions but potentially harmful implications (having to increase pay to attract 18+, which raises prices, and makes the park even less affordable...). Of course, then again, Louisville, and Bowling Green, where Beech Bend Park is located, both have universities, which may be a source of some employees...
