  1. Might as well have fun at his job.
  2. You listed my basic KI fare. I find KI's Chik-fil-A to be larger than the average CFA sandwich, but I can see where you're coming from- I choose to eat smaller amounts throughout the day than to lose it on a ride.
  3. But that's what I want! That or the famous Jonny Quest Pterodactyl. I trying to not imagine what I personally would like, but what would benefit the park.
  4. Really? I might have to pick up liquid eggs for baking purposes, for reasons previously stated. A scarecrow! Growing up surrounded by cornfields, I'm really excited about the implications of this! Truly frightening.
  5. I'm with Terp and Chugh43 that the Smoking Section doesn't need to be there. Over excited little kids that need a break from an unusual day need to be there. What's wrong with have a few cages with birds? The waterfall working? Give it some atmosphere. It's a nice little area, you can see the carousel through the clearing. A quiet space would keep kids from wailing and having little mini breakdowns allover the park.
  6. Ugh. Not every inch of park space needs covered with rides, games, buildings, pavers, cigarette smoke, concrete or asphalt. Green space is important. I, for one, miss Swan Lake. I miss a nice, quiet, bucolic, cigarette free Paramount Story aka Tower Gardens. Ugh. I'd grey out sometimes on days where I can go easily from one ride to another, when the crowd is thin. I've learned to pace myself, instead of going immediately from one ride to another. The candied ginger does work for me, as I don't like to eat before DB, sometimes an empty stomach can be just as nausea inducing as a full one. I never eat a huge amount at the park, usually a side item or a snack. Also, it could be age changing your inner ear. As you grow older, the inner ear can wreak havoc for you on spinning rides.
  8. I'm sorry this happened. I learned from experience to just carry a waterproof plastic case with a hooking attachment to clip it to my belt loop. Just my card, some money and a few smokes. I don't even take a phone with me. It's a terrible, sick feeling to have your things taken, I know. I don't know what to think about your acquaintance's behavior. I can't judge. I know the park tries their best to help.
  9. Roller coasters don't have a 100% guarantee that they will thrill everyone, and he didn't wasn't impressed by the Intamin rides he's been on. It probably means he's been on a lot of coasters. Personally though, if you've been to Cedar Point, you've been on Maverick and that Stengel Dive will change your opinion. We get it YoungStud. You love Intamin. You're just repeating yourself and it's getting really annoying now. Sorry we don't all wet our pants over Intamin like you do. I personally have a diverse palate and love GCI, GG, and Mack, Intamin, and B&M. My favorite ride is Scooby Doo's Spooky Coaster in Australia. Give me a long ride duration and theming. That looks fun- looked it up on Youtube. It would be great to have a different style of ride in the park.
  10. I'm definitely going to be a tourist brat when Haunt comes. I'm planning on double wristbands, souvenirs, and sticking my face as close to that fence to see what you all can see. I appreciate people putting up pics of the construction, so I can join in.
  11. Too bad your arch nemesis Hugecranio got in between your camera and the fountains about halfway through. I can easily see KI doing that with the fountains. Putting the show where the shops are would be smart. How many times have you seen an item in the shopwindow and impulse bought? (Hint to Shopping Department Head: Monster Kitties.)
  12. I didn't go for economic reasons this year, if that helps. The place it's held wasn't designed for a parade of people attending a show. Parking is sometimes difficult, you ride a bus, you carry your chairs and supplies with you, and it's usually on the hottest days of the year. I'm ready for that, but I suspect a family of four, one in a stroller, might have a tougher time than a couple. My parents always took us, but this was at a time when kids were outside more, and had more natural strength to take on the day. There seems to be more to fear these days, the heat, the direct sunlight, etc.. I don't know how you and I lived through our childhoods. It is cool to see a horde of families picnicking under the wings of a B52, though. It has a beautiful symbolism.
  13. Is it a Lodgepool tree? the kind they would use for telephone poles? We have quite a few in our area that are dead, perhaps from some blight, no other trees effected. To be honest, I found the Starlight thing a bit blasé from the start. It was barkered and advertised, and then when I finally saw it, I felt like Peggy Lee.
  14. I'm partial to the Thunderbirds, for no particular reason. I do love the air show. I particularly love going around and looking at the aircraft. Once, looking at a Huey, the airman standing by asked if I wanted to sit in it, "It's yours." So I sat in it, because it's mine. I can't think of Vectron canceling air shows, or any any other venue canceling air shows. This is how the pilots make money doing what they love to do. To null their livelihood would be awful.
  15. Sinks like a rock. He can stay up a bit, but it's an issue. He stays at the part of the pool where he can stand, while I go swimming in the deep.
  16. Yeh, you have to rock it. I have a cousin a good foot taller than me, a good deal heavier, and he doesn't like the spin, so I don't move. Another cousin the same weight and height as me, we spin it. It's a matter of leaning forward, leaning back, until it takes on it's own momentum. After we get the cart spinning like mad, we like to see how long we can stare straight forward with blank faces. It's not a must, but it's fun to try.
  17. I've learned just to carry a waterproof wallety thing attached by a crampon onto my belt. Just my card, and money, and a few smokes. I used to carry a backpack, and looking back, don't know why. There's a freedom in having so little to cart about. My hair gets messed up every fifteen minutes, why bother to carry a comb?
  18. The park offers life jackets free-of-charge. At many attractions, including the wave pool, they are required for non-swimmers. No matter how tall they are. You really should learn to swim, even if you don't plan on swimming. It could save your life, and it would allow you to participate at Soak City without either wearing a life jacket or breaking a safety rule. 1. Perhaps the non-swimmer isn't comfortable in the deep end at all, even with a life jacket. They want to have the reassurance of being able to touch the bottom of the pool. 2. Perhaps the non-swimmer is too young to have reasonably learned how to swim with confidence yet. These movies are supposed to be "family-friendly", after all. The deep-end-only policy certainly isn't. Depending on how young the kid is, #1 could easily apply here as well. 3. Perhaps the non-swimmer is actually physically incapable of swimming. I, for example, cannot float properly unassisted due to having extremely dense bones. Swimming lessons don't help; I simply am incapable of floating high enough in the water to get my mouth above the surface, unless I am wearing a life jacket. Funny thing about bone density, if I didn't see the sink phenomena for myself, I would have laughed it off, but my husband cannot float to literally save his life. When he told me he couldn't swim, (I spent summers on Cumberland Lake in Kentucky, and a lot of that time on a houseboat), I honestly couldn't believe him, but he sinks. I'd never met someone who could not swim before. We go boating, fishing, etc., but have life jackets and ski belts around the same as an asthmatic would have their puffer.
  19. Honestly, part of me wants a campground. That would open up the gate to weekend customers who can't or won't stay at the local motel/hotels, it would be a great little vacation. I love to camp, my family loves to camp. A weekend camping trip to KI, in a package deal, would bring customers who would spend the money they saved from hotel fees into the park. That and the Doggie Day Care. I could camp for the weekend, have three and a half days at the park, and my dog would be safe, visiting Ed Alonzo's ducks. Win win for me.
  20. This concerns me, too. What about little kids? They advertised movies to please children. I certainly wouldn't take my sisters' kids to an event that advertised Pixar films and have the teensiest scrawniest kid in a tube, in a crowd, in the deep end. If she went down, I'd have to battle all those tubebutts to get her to the surface! Fail! I just read the post about life jackets. End to end intertubes would create a buffeting action if a kid went in. To crowd everyone into one section of the pool is disastrous.
  21. We go every year, but decided to pass this year- I'm really sad this happened, I really feel bad for the pilots' families. Air people are usually such fun and positive people. It's common to say "They were doing what made them happy" at times like this, but still...
  22. That was my first thought at reading this, it came right on the heels of that disclosure. I have no personal family experience with autism, only a few friends that have children that have it. If the subject doesn't know he's in virtual line for the ride, i.e., with a distraction like was posted above, it would seem as if the subject was getting right on the roller coaster, wouldn't it? It's a shame that a few grifters had to bungle the works.
  23. This is my least favorite ride- awkward positioning and the need to hang on and hold myself up. There is a huge gap between me and the restraints, and it kills my wrists to hold myself to the back of the seat. I know the restraints are designed that I stay in, or else there would be a weight/height restriction. Strangely, my niece is the same height build as me, but loves Firehawk.
  24. What if all those huge footers are just for a mondo set of stands for a baseball camp? We would all feel foolish.
  25. SO KI has never been on the cutting edge? Someone help me here, but Racer (started coaster revolution) Beast (record breaker) Bat (prototype) Vortex (first coaster with 6 inversions) King Cobra (Prototype) FoF (Prototype) TRTR (First Giant top spin?) Those are just the first of their kind cutting edge type rides... Now i feel like a daredevil for putting my butt in those rides. I loved the prototype phase.
