Working at Kings Island
To be honest, I lived in Norwood for a time, and inadvertently influenced fashion there. They have college reasonable rent, but lo' the place is rundown. I didn't feel In danger, but this was 1987. I have no idea what it's like today. My cousin lived there when he worked at KI, he had no trouble with the drive. I used to drive from Blueball to work KI. It's literally a crossroad, but no great jazz musicians ever went there. It's about a thirty minute drive, and the crime rate is low, but that's because there's not a lot people. Even the trailer park disappeared. Sharonville is a cute place, I don't know if it's still "upwardly mobile" or not. When I was there, you couldn't walk five feet without falling into a trendy bar dull of dames wearing their mother's best dresses.

SEAS Q3 Earnings
Darn. My first thought is to the animals- will they get top care? I wanted the park to thrive in spite of its bad decisions so the animals wouldn't do without. What will happen to them? I don't want them turned out to sea. That would be like setting my ten year old Scottie out in farmland to fend for himself. What plans have been made for them? Why in God's Pink Hell did they allow PETA so many shares? They did drop the ball in not addressing Blackfish, which is back on Netflix, by the way.

Entertainment Line-Up for 2015
You had me at walkabouts. That's a part of the park I've been missing!

Kings Island adding two rides and other improvements for 2015
I rode the one at Kentucky Kingdom with my daughter and we both loved it. The one there has the frog theme. It kind of reminded me of a mini version of Kennywood's Kangaroo. It works off the same principle. Its just smaller and has the ramp located in the center of the ride rather than directly under the ride vehicle. Oh, I know that ride! When I rode them, they were called "The Flying Scooters", and I had a heck of a time trying to describe why they were fun to a person who didn't know them. It doesn't sound like much on paper, but I always loved them.

What is on your off-season improvement list?
I would like to see the parking lot improved, and some more lighting added. Anything else I'd like changed has already been addressed by the improvements they are already making.

Kings Island adding two rides and other improvements for 2015
These changes seem to be taking out the small conveniences that make people think how hot the day is, instead of what a great time they are having. The Funnel Cake stand goes through rushes, and gets backed up easily, it looks like they are trying to resolve this. The line at that stand trails back across a walkway that makes getting through clunky. The Starbuck's as it now discourages me from standing in line. I'm glad they are making more space, and hopefully, it won't be so dark. I've never tried Yogurt Plus, how is it? I'm really excited to return next year.

WHAT IS NEW FOR 2015!
I think the picnic area is a great addition, I recall church and school events at LeSourdesville, where everyone met at a certain time for a picnic. I went to Halloween early this year, and there were seas of matching shirts due to all the groups of people in the park. (On a side note: I don't know why I didn't mention this sooner, but a friend of mine, Harry Adler, died about a month ago. He was part of the construction crew of Taft's Kings Island. I know that one of his jobs was assembling The Racer.)

WHAT IS NEW FOR 2015!
I like the idea of The Woodstock Gliders being in kiddy land. The parent/kid combo relies on the parent being able to fit in the ride. There's a bracket where a kid is wanting more thrill, and is too short for the big rides. This ride will help fill that gap.

WHAT IS NEW FOR 2015!
Honestly, when I saw this announcement on Facebook, my first thought was "More?" I'm not complaining, just a little surprised-they've already added so much in such a short time.

Canada's Wonderland Stabbing
Wait- so for next year, for me to attend KI Haunt, I need a Platinum Pass? The two guys that got stabbed may not have been asking for it. Stink and I got accosted this year for having the gall to come to a stop at the end of the aisle.

Funnel Cake - Pumpkin pie Spice
We've had good and bad experiences with the Funnel Cake on International Street; the bad experiences are usually the booth being short handed. Then the workers have to rush around to cover the missing one, and then orders get messed up. That sounds like an "I don't care" worker over a new worker. A new worker at least understands that all the spice in the middle would be horrible.

Maine Hayride: Teen Girl Dies, 22 Injured When Trailer Flips
I once went on a Haunted Hayride, with my five year old nephew. He had seen me create monsters, and do costumes, so we thought he was okay. When we went trick or treating with him, he was perfectly okay with the monster dads that would be dressed was Jason, Leatherface, etc.. He was raised on a farm, so he was used to chainsaws, and things like that. I learned how to start and drive a tractor with him teaching me. On the hayride, he dived under the straw in the cart, and did not come out until the ride was finished. That was the last Haunted Hayride for me. I didn't like it because everything seemed a little ramshackle, they were using their own farm implements, and I know how a combine works. No one wants to fall off the back of the wagon with a combine behind you. I should have joined my nephew under the straw.

SFA Fright Fest Brawl
Sometimes, with the best intentions, we let down our guard a little, and expect the best of everyone. If there were a mighty team of security there the night of the fight, people would have been up in arms because the park didn't trust them. Also, security costs money, so I suspect they didn't up the security until they needed it to assure the customers. The Saturday daytime KI event I attended, I began to see a lot of security, thought it odd, then boom, the fog machines turned on, and the warning announcements sounded. Then the crowd got increasingly sketchy as the fog thickened.

I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about... who would do such a thing? Maybe they stole a pig?

Maine Hayride: Teen Girl Dies, 22 Injured When Trailer Flips
I've just now read this article. Mechanical failure is going to haunt the owner/driver of the Jeep for the rest of his life. Always in these situations, one always wonders "What if?"

Teen Killed under zombie bus haunt
I agree, shark6495, Common sense would dictate that zombies stay away from large machinery, such as a bus, (Or a combine) but there's also the desire for the actor to present a 'zombie' scare to the riders. they want an event that will be talked about and bring more customers. They are in a cornfield, where general supervision, if there is any, isn't present. This was an adult, and the bus was moving slowly. I know from my youth that a cornfield field can be caked with slick mud, and perhaps this played a part in the accident. Playing hide and seek as a kid in the cornfield, there's many of time I went home wearing more mud than clothes. I don't know the legalities of licensed haunts, much less pick-up 'family haunts.

Teen Killed under zombie bus haunt
Oh dear, it's one of those accidents that you could only see happening in hindsight. I've been on tractor hayrides through a haunted field, the openness lends to the scare factor, but knowing how tractors work, the same accident would have happened. Even then, there was an accidental hanging a few years ago on a tractor scare ride. Evidently, this is a new interactive idea, not scenarios as a hayride would have. I wouldn't know where to begin in rewriting the safety rules for such a new attraction. I feel bad for the actors, the driver, the victim and the participants. These attractions are often kitted with the pumpkin sale at farms, so there were no hard and fast safety regulations in place, as in KI.

For this who don't want to be scared...
The "No Boo" makes a grest souviner, it's inexpensive and the kids can use it again for Halloween. Now they sell lights in the costume aisle to make it easier to see Trick or Treaters. It's the same price, if not sometimes cheaper, and easier to see than some of the small pendants they sell in the store, plus, it's a status symbol/ memory of a good day. The Haunters in the mazes evidently go after people that hunker down or try to sneak by, too. I have solid evidence.

Kings Island 2014 Discussion Thread
Thank you, As we get older, there's a liquid "compass" in our ears that dies out, and we get less tolerant of spinning. This happens sooner in males than females. The Monster, with a balanced load, doesn't spin on it's individual axis, (not unless you rock forward and back). She knew this about the Monster, but we were unsure about Surf Dog. We watched Surf Dog for a bit, but couldn't decide if it would be difficult for her, being that it seemed like a boat, but too much like a boat on Lake Eerie. Thanks for the information, it seems like Surf Dog's bark is worse than it's bite, it only look chaotic from the outside.

Kings Island 2014 Discussion Thread
My ride partner was afraid of nausea, thanks for letting me know for next time. They had a very good time, and no doubt making a return trip next summer. Her childhood nickname was "Snoopy", so you can imagine how delighted she was to see an entire section of a park with Peanuts theming. I'll remember the Surf Dog for next summer. She was carrying all the girls' purses, so they could ride the big rides, so we were a little prissy about what rides we could venture onto, but that wasn't the only reason. We're both 5'2" and weigh 100 pounds, so it's not fitting in the ride that worried us, it was having the RO "walk of shame" us by saying we couldn't ride because we were too old (41 and 50.) The 'dare' for us to ride Woodstock Express was that I hold my arms straight up the entire time, because evidently, I have long, skinny, alien arms which she finds amusing, especially in contrast to all the children's arms. This coincides with the tradition of getting as many of your group on the Monster, then all attempt to look straight forward with no expression on your face, as if you were taking the bus to work. Watch the riders of the Monster sometime, no doubt you'll see a guy 'too cool' to be enthused about the ride. It's hilarious.

Kings Island 2014 Discussion Thread
This is the first time I've been through Planet Snoopy long enough to see the changed smoking section. I've always wanted to see the kids' Halloween, and that's what I did yesterday. They really had a lot going. The petting zoo is clean, and the animals are changed out a bit, Zoey the Kangaroo was on a scheduled rounds due to the weather. The SoakCity part of the party was fun to watch. Two of us rode the Woodstock Express, but as adults, we didn't venture to the other rides. The Big Day for a member of our group came at the height station, she got her all rides access bracelet, then ran away screaming with her older sister towards the Diamondback. We did not see them until dinner. I did finally get some push-pop fudge, I went to get fudge for our party, one of the kids were confused, because she thought I decided on ice-cream instead, until she tried it. I can now see the advantage of this packaging, when I had kids in the party. It had been a few years since some of our guests had seen the kid's park, and they loved the change. Until you walk through it, you just see constant movement of the landscape, and not the individual rides.

Kings Island 2014 Discussion Thread
Today I saw something new, and something I wanted very much. There are red metal benches in the smoking areas, and the one that I hated that was so close to the Lost Parents" center has been moved. It's further away, and shoved back away from the general public. Thanks to whoever has this done.

Fantasy Farm - Middletown, Ohio
Lesourdesvile and Fantasy Farm were right next to each other. I remember the big fiberglass rooster that used to be out front of it. My nephew, his mother and I used to run away from home, and he would always choose to run away to Fantasy Farm. Fantasy Farm was best for very young kids until you were old enough to go to LeSourdsesville, before it closed. I had gone twice to Fantasy Farm with my neighbor as a kid, because she was too young for the bigger rides at LeSourdesville. It was like a separate Planet Snoopy, without as much Kapow. I recall that after I graduated high school, about early/mid- eighties, there was a man that had bought it, and I went to that little lobby in the motel on site to interview for a job as a painter for the rides. It was creepy. That night I had a nightmare I was painting the carousel, and the plaster started to flake off, and underneath the plaster cherubs were corpses of little kids, like "A Bucket of Blood".
