  1. I also looked up Cedar Point, and found it on a 2002 web page.
  2. That would be ironic as R.L. Stine, writer of the goosebumps books, wrote a book about a certain wooden roller coaster in the woods...do I even need to state its name? So, in a way, we already have one. PS: Terpy's gonna be mad because I just did something he would do...
  3. I have a video... Kings Island 2009 by Coasterimage.com They have a lot of good roller coaster videos and images. You should check out their web page.
  4. Well, 3 posts in a row...but I found something Gigacoaster 2k (aka Angie) might like. Someone please redirect her to this post for this image: I have a weird feeling this will be her new avatar...
  5. Oh! For all the Backlot Stunt Coaster fans, here is its promo page: http://web.archive.org/web/20041204222339/...ianjob/ij3.html Enjoy.
  6. I searched for web archives, and looked up Kings Island. This is what I found. http://web.archive.org/web/20000621120648/...://www.pki.com/ (Note: Some of you may be angry with what ride is just opening on this page...) For more... http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://www.pki.com Enjoy.
  7. Ouch. Never good when a park closes. Big-time parks seem safe for now, but what about the "little guys"? One newspaper headline I NEVER WANT TO READ: "Holiday World closing for good after 2011 season" or "Indiana Beach forced to close after 2010 season" or "Giant Tidal Wave oblitherates Cedar Point, Mean Streak somehow survives...everything else destroyed" OK, the last one was a bit of a joke...
  8. Ah, yes, the big finish. The last few seconds of your ride. Some coasters have it, giving one last huge thrill (or sometimes even a better one than the rest of the ride). Some don't, they may have great sections before the finale, but then they just get lame at the end. And thus we have this poll. Enjoy. As for me...while I loved the endings for Vortex, DB, and FOF...one coaster simply kills them all when it comes to a big finish... Beast's Helix! Especially at night. In this fairly recent KI Documentary "Riding History to the Limits" (you can look for the link around here somewhere), before Beast opened it was "test rode" (without brakes!) before the finale, and were so scared by it, that they had brakes installed before this point because they were afraid the train would explode out of the tunnel. Though the original brakes they had installed in '79 were less noticeable than what they have now... Makes me wonder...what that might have been like... Enjoy the poll. And if you don't like polls, why did you click this section!?!?
  9. Diamondback is so far ahead in my eyes as far as quality first drops on KI roller coasters go, it's ridiculous. It's such a mammoth drop and then add the feeling that you're gonna fly out. Second, would actually be Vortex's first drop thanks to its sheer size (I assume had I been able to ride Son of Beast it would have easily taken second place in drop status). Beast is third, only because we are using first drops and the legendary helix is at the end of the ride(and gets best finale in my book). Hmm...me gotsa an idea...
  10. And you now cannot ride it again, because Hydra showed up and killed it. McSalsa, rippin off Terpy...not because of hate, but...for no reason.
  11. Decent front seat rides with super high speeds? Just a suggestion...there are plenty of crazy rough coasters out there that hit all the "low marks" for roller coasters: "Hi, I'm freakishly rough, slow, and boring!" (McSalsa heads off to get TNT and Rockets...) At least SOB isn't slow...unless someone considers 78mph slow...
  12. LIMIT OF LOL ICONS SO... LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL!!!
  13. I haven't rode a coaster I dislike yet, but if I had to pick one, among those rides I can remember, I would have to pick...hmm, tough call between Flight Deck and Vortex, both at KI. Yet I would easily give both a 8/10. I have, however, only ridden about 10 coasters total...so...yeah, perhaps that explains why I haven't found one I dislike just yet!
  14. All right, my two cents on this matter- I think Cedar Fair made the correct move here. Nick simply wanted too much money. Imagine, for a moment, if they had paid that extreme amount of cash to re-sign? Son of Beast's removal would be a clear no-brainer(no money for an overhaul), or worse yet, they might not have the money to remove it (and it would be SBNO for a year or so, and a SBNO coaster can be an eyesore). No new attractions at all for 2010, and even 2011...then, the rides all start to rust & decay and there is not enough money to fix them all up and more rides are lost. Signing Snoopy, who were already with Cedar Fair's other parks and were charging far less, was the right call. I just hope they spend the money the right way. Now, kicking Scooby Doo out is a different matter. He was on ANOTHER deal, that DID NOT expire in 2009. Just so Snoopy can run without any competition (I would have loved to see Scooby & Snoopy share the park, for various reasons, though mostly irony). And there goes one of the last pieces of the original 1972 KI, and one of the characters who helped make the park popular. Losing Nick-U doesn't anger me, but this does...because if Scooby can go, what else is in danger? Are we going to see them tear down Racer? Eiffel Tower? Heck, even Beast (though it came 7 years later) might not be safe...although if they were going to tear this stuff, half (or more) of their fans would show up with weapons to defend it...or get it declared a NATIONAL landmark so they couldn't tear it down. (Actually, let's do that now...Dear Mr.President... ) Just my opinion.
  15. On second thought it does...NO SEASON PASSES FOR YOU!!! (And by you, I mean EVERYONE) JK
  16. Season passes would be custom made under my plan. Decide what you want, and add it up: -Gold Perks ($20) -Platinum Perks ($50+Must Have Gold) -Ride Roller Coasters ($40) -Ride Flatrides ($20) -Waterpark ($30) -Ride Everything ($80) (Replaces above 3 options if chosen) -Unlimited Food ($60) -Unlimited Parking ($25) You can also customize the image of your season pass, ala like a Capital One Credit Card (which I don't have)! A "fully loaded" Platinum Season Pass, with all perks, would be $235. But remember, you get UNLIMITED FOOD, UNLIMITED DRINKS, AND UNLIMITED PARKING ALL SEASON LONG! And for EVERY Cedar Fair park...Cedar Point, Kings Island, Kings Dominion, Canada's Wonderland, Michigan's Adventure, Knott's Berry Farm, Carowinds...etc etc...
  17. One more thing I looked up was Coney Island (Ohio)'s pay one price for all rides price. Not counting the pool. $11. Then I noticed they only have 1 roller coaster and about 10-15 "adult" flats at most. Plus $7 parking. Still a good value, but is it worth travelling for 2 hours for? Not in my eyes. But, if you live close to Coney Island Ohio...
  18. True, and it is probably best the way it is. But again, this is a "What If" scenario. Always fun to do. I do wish, however, that KI would sell a "Pay One Price, eat all ya want!" food & drink ticket! $20 would be fair considering the current food prices...but then... 4 people going to KI... $120 for 4 Kroger Tickets $80 for 4 food tickets $15 for parking =$215!!! Ow...well, then again, if you decide to stuff yourself while at KI, it's still a good value...
  19. That might happen. But there are parks that are successful that use this system, Knoebels uses it. Here are their prices, which I used to base mine on: http://www.knoebels.com/rates.asp I think Indiana Beach might do this too...yep, they do. But they charge $30 for a ride-all-day pass. Considering how many rides KI has, a ride-all-day pass might end up being over $50...well, it already is $42.99 for the entire park. $29 if you get a discount.
  20. The rides would be the same, the Haunt attractions would be $1 each, or a $10 package for all haunt attractions. You choose. And a Haunt & Rides combo is $25.
  21. And then they would spread it to their other parks... Millennium Force $15.00, re-rides $10.00... Me: I'm going to Holiday World or Six Flags instead! Screw this!
  22. Good point...knowing Cedar Fair... Diamondback $10.00, $7.50 re-rides...etc...
  23. Yet another interesting idea I've had in my head for a while- what if Kings Island switched to a pay-per-ride system, where people can pay for only what they want and nothing more? Let's assume SOB re-opens as-is for this. Also, let's add some "ride package" tickets. And be reasonable! -Ride EVERYTHING (Flats, Water Park, & Coasters) -Ride EVERYTHING Except Water Park -Ride EVERYTHING Except Roller Coasters & Water Park -Just The Coasters Except, of course, the current pay-per-rides... Here is what I would charge...note that when you re-ride, it's 50% off from the first ride. Major Roller Coasters- $3.00 Includes... Diamondback The Beast Son of Beast Invertigo Vortex Firehawk Flight of Fear Mid-Core Roller Coasters- $2.00 Includes... The Racer (Both sides) Backlot Stunt Coaster Flight Deck Adventure Express Kids Coasters- $1.00 (except LBGC) Includes... Avatar Fairly Odd Coaster Rugrats Runaway Reptar Little Bills Giggle Coaster ($0.50) Current Pay Per Rides...??? Same price as current. Mega Flatrides...$2.00 Includes... Drop Tower Delirium The Crypt Flatrides...$0.75 Includes... All Flats not in Nick-U or considered a Mega Flat Nick-U Flats...$0.25 Includes... All Nick-U Flats Water Rides...$0.75 Includes... ALL Water Rides & Slides, including Congo Falls & White Water Canyon A Free Ride...$0.00 Eiffel Tower (I'm nice here!) PACKAGES -Ride EVERYTHING (Coasters, Flats, Water Rides) $40.00 for Adults, $20.00 for kids -Ride EVERYTHING but Water Rides(except Congo & WWC, you can ride for those with this) $30.00, $15.00 for kids -Ride All Coasters $20.00, $10.00 for kids -Ride All Flats $15.00, $7.50 for kids includes Congo Falls & WWC -All Water Rides $15.00, $7.50 for kids includes Congo Falls & WWC -Eat All Day $20.00 for UNLIMITED Food & Drinks!!! So, would this be a good value? Let's see...from the day I went on May 16th... Actually Paid $29+$6+$10=$46 Under this plan... Eiffel Tower=$0 Crypt=$2 Beast=$3 SRR=$0.75 Vortex=$3 Action Theatre=$0.75 Congo Falls=$0.75 White Water Canyon=$0.75 Diamondback=$3 Flight Deck=$2 The Racer=$2 Flight of Fear=$3 Eiffel Tower re-ride=$0 The Beast re-ride=$1.50 Carosuel=$0.75 Total Paid On Rides:$23.25 Plus $20 Meal Ticket:$43.25 Holy Cow under my plan I saved 3 bucks...sorry for the crazy long post. Poll on my prices above. Enjoy. If you don't like polls(though this more of a discussion) click back. Thanks and enjoy! PS: I do NOT think we will ever see any Cedar Fair park adopt these policies, but it's fun to imagine and say "What if?" Double PS: Parking remains $15. Sorry.
  24. Promises, promises.... (Does it have strong laterals?) Terpy, known lateral fan BTW, Son of Crystal Beach Cyclone is crazy rough (think SOB but 100x worse) and has OTSRs. It also has a nasty habit of flying off the track for no reason and crashing into explosives, which are nearby for some reason... I would take a pass on it.
  25. http://www.coastergrotto.com/park.jsp?argId=21 This coastergrotto, a web site where users can rate roller coasters they have ridden and keep track of their track records(I am a member there, I suggest signing up BTW). Look at the rating for King Cobra. A 6. Not exactly the best ride in the world. Son of Beast fares better, with the average user rating of 7.4. PS: Off topic, but Diamondback is awesome and this seems to show it. A 9.5 out of 10 average! It's ranked #7 in the world on this site... Second PS: Wow, just noticed the site has 4 news articles related to SOB on the link...wow. The only other one is about DB. Wait, where is the Firehawk is coming in '07 news!?!?
