  1. Texas Giant is looking good...
  2. Hmmm there were some issues on opening day... If I remember correctly the tempature was around 50 degrees that morning.
  3. If you really wanna know, contact the park with a email or a letter. I've done it before and THEY DO respond back.
  4. Fear the Four replied to a post in a topic in Trip Reports
I rode The Voyage in mid July this year... To be honest I didn't think it was rough at all, just out of control. Good trip report!
  5. Something like Drop Towers foundation?
  6. That's how you do it.
  7. When you get cracked in the head with a garbage can lid, you now know who did it. If you hit him hard enough the NFL might fine you.
  8. Looks really cool! You should add a webcam lol just kidding. If any ideas pop into my head I'll post them.
  9. Terpy, choosing his words very carefully: That is not the reason Son of Beast was closed or is closed. I will not be elaborating further on that matter. I'm sorry i was misinformed. I was just under that impression "Scheid said he's not ready to give up on the major investment just yet. Structurally, he said the ride is sound but he is not pleased with the thrill ride's performance." " Scheid said he has asked three engineering firms to submit proposals for a long-term fix. One firm's proposal was unsatisfactory, he said, and he is waiting for the others." Scheid said the park hasn't talked about tearing down the ride. "It's more of a how do we make it right," he said. http://www.oxfordpre...son-607408.html Old article from March but I'm not sure you have seen it.
  10. After watching The "newer Texas Giant" go up I actually want Son of Beast to get the Iron horse treatment. If you really haven't followed the construction much here are some pics of it. first drop That hill going into the extreme over bank is right after the first drop so that will give some insane ejector air. This diagram shows how much Texas giant's layout has changed. *I do not take credit for these photos* Sorry if this was already posted.
  11. You can't forget about zippin pippin either. rcdb.com/9088.htm
  12. This picture was taken about a week ago...
  13. A wooden coaster that's not lame.
  14. I really like this! Thank you But I found a problem with the mobile version. The top looks messed up.
  15. I remember back in 08' Kings Island had a electrical problem. Fountains were not working along with The Beast, Son of Beast, Red racer, Drop Tower, most of the water rides, and Flight of Fear. After I circled the park I got bored pretty quick and just left.
  16. Why a capacity nightmare? It has a higher capacity then Drop Tower and Delirium combined. It shouldn't be that bad, it will be like adding two flat rides with low capacitys. How on earth do you figure that? WindSeeker's max hourly capacity is 1,280 people. Delirium and Drop Tower have a hourly capacity of 500-600 people. Ride capacity won't be a problem with this ride. It has a three minute ride time and 64 seats. The capacity is 1280 only if it takes zero minutes and zero seconds to unload and load the ride. Do the math. In other words, don't believe everything the park puts on the Internet! So it would be around a 1000ish? Still higher then both of them put together.

  19. Let's look at the mechanicals: Conveyance to get the "gondola" up to the top of the tower (I would assume cable lift powered by motors located on the top maintenance platform or inside the tower) and Motor(s) that rotate the gondola. A traditional wheel and tire are visible in the animation and illustrations, and that's about as low tech as it gets. and Locks and Sensors on the restraints. As far as I can see, that's it. Here's how I see it. The gondola is completely free from the tower itself. The two are linked by the catchcar type structure that is dynamically affixed (dynamic meaning that the connection allows movement, in this case horizontal rotation). This apparatus is also connected to the cables that raise and lower the gondola. Now, anything at 300' can be problematic, but this seems to be pretty well tested technology. I don't have too many fears about downtime, unless the winds prove to be more of a problem than they were expecting . http://www.mondialrides.com/products They are the king of state fairs so I wouldn't rely on them too much
  20. I have been thinking that all day. That's another reason I'm really excited about this ride. It will be awkward looking at Diamondback from that angle.
  21. Local 12 was saying a new roller coaster but I didn't get to watch the whole story.
  22. I bet it was Intamin.... http://www.ridetrade...id=24&Itemid=38
