  1. I might just do that.On a side note. I will not be made fun of for finding information, by just asking? I was reading another post that said they had talked to KI management on the topic of "Does Kings Island need another wooden roller coaster?" I know you know the subject and the ugly "stir" it caused. LOL
  2. That would be cool. Just hoping that it is not a version of Timber Tower, that Dollywood has had all the problem with. So, I guess it is still on track to open in just over 10 days (approx) for the July 4th week? Our company is having a day on Sat Aug 25th.
  3. My company is having our employee appreciating day at Camden Park, New ride this year, Can't wait to see what it does? I have seen pictures, but is there a similar ride out there that it is supposed to be like?
  4. Well, actually didn't thik the answer was that easy, but I am wrong. I kind of thought it might me a pre-fab track built off site. Now I wonder what kind of time this process saves, as of building totally on site? While you are at it "interpreter" is there a cost savings? LOL I know you probably know
  5. So, why is Intamin's wooden coaster called plug and play?
  6. Wow, this has become a sensitive subject. Why all the dislike for a new wooden coaster? I would love to see a new woodie in place of Son of Beast. I would personally like to see one similar to The Voyage. If there was a new wooden coaster, all you guys would be excited and in line just like everyone else. I don't believe you guys would be sad to see a new coaster of any kind to find a home at Kings Island. I do not believe that a new wooden coaster has to be a record breaker, but it does have to entertain and of course draw a crowd. I am "pro" Son of Beast, would love to see this thing fixed, but not sure if Cedar Fair is interested in this? (who knows?) If not, A great Gravity Group coaster would be just what the doctor ordered.
  7. Thank you for sharing the story. I kind of thought at first, that it sold for 5,000 dollars, sounded fishy. I mean I could to afford to own it. I know, there are many others monies that need to be raised to dismantled and pieces properly marked for reassembly, moved, then rebuilt and so on. But only 5gs Wow!! I would love to see this go to a smaller park that needs a good coaster, and a nostalgic look and feel. Dollywood comes to mind.
  8. The Voyage is now my favorite wooden coaster. Sorry, Kings Island and The Beast. I rode The Voyage about two weeks ago, re-track and all. I have nothing to compare to. The Voyage is an awesome roller coaster. Anyone who can make the trip, Holiday World has 3 wonderful wooden delights. I also have to comment, the staff was A++ Every single person we came in contact with were truly glad that you were there to enjoy the park. BTW- Unlimited drinks all day
  9. I agree with you guys, poor parenting. Glad the child was ok. What is up with the "groups" of young kids running thru the park, with no parents in sight. I went a few weeks ago, and noticed young groups of 10 and 11 year old kids running around KI without ant parents. My son is 11, and no way would I let him run around the park with a few other boys his age.
  10. Well, the week is over. Is Diamondback up and running this week? Does anyone really know(it's early) what happened, and or what was fixed? I was there last Monday June 4th. The only thing that I noticed, was all 3 trains in the maintenance shed. Later in the afternoon, one was moved out for a short time.
  11. After Holiday World's water park, Soak City, is just blah. They need a water coaster or two. Mammoth and Wildebeast were awesome.
  12. I like Adventure Express, and when my son gets brave enough, I want it to be his first "bigger" coaster, then onto Backlot Stunt Coaster.
  13. I would love to see an old flat ride brought back, restored and returned to it's former glory. Which one?? Insert your favorite. I vote for a Bayern Kurve style ride. I know, only a dream, but It was my favorite high-speed ride that got my nerve up to ride the coasters.
  14. I couldn't find it on youtube, but I saw a video of Wicked Twister(off-ride) It was being filmed underneath the back spike. As the train traversed, the spike swayed. If it doesn't bend, it will break. Movement is good.
  15. Watch this video on a coaster, and how it's supposed to bend, when a force travels over it. Do all roller coasters bend this bad? Maybe not.
  16. I am not afraid of heights, but if you were in the front seat and at the top of the lift, and it stopped, your body would kind of lean (lurch) into the restraint, and it might become uncomfortable.
  17. I am ONLY JOKING. Is Diamondback sinking along with Vortex? Maybe it was built on an ancient burial ground. Seriously, I understand about the concrete or the land has settled from the removal of trees, just remember most of the rides at Kings Island were built after the removal of trees. Huge example, The Beast, built right back in to woods with lots of trees removed. Sounds like it's a possibility of poor concrete to begin with, even though I have never heard of a park having similar problems. BTW: When my house was built, a structural engineer had to come out and inspect the pouring of concrete of the foundation of our home.
  18. So, Diamondback was running on Saturday/Sunday, so it could have not been a mechanical issue, or it would of not ran the weekend. Like Shyflyer said, it must of been a computer issue/program, or it wouldn't of run at all this past weekend.
  19. The cloverleaf style boat does spin more, unlike the toboggan style boat. On Sunday, the wait was 1 hr for Mammoth, and about 30-40 min for Wildebeast 10min on the other slide we went on. Sorry, I don't recall the name of said slide.
  20. Mammoth does soak you a lot more. On the hills you get drenched, and the spray from just going up and down those hills, I could hardly see.
  21. Was Diamondback running Sat or Sunday June 2-3rd?
  22. Maybe it was the coaster train, or maybe the motor had a hiccup, or whatever. I was just asking a general question. After riding it last night, I can say there was definently no "pot hole" or whatever you felt on the lift hill. Vortex was riding as smooth and fast as the last time I rode it (maybe 3-5 years ago) It may be a specific train issue & not a track issue. Issues like this should be mentioned to ride ops. If there are enough "complaints" it will help maintenance with troubleshooting. or perhaps the lift chain motor had a "hiccup"
  23. I finally made it to Holiday World, and all I have to say is WOW!! First off, Pat Koch was greeting people as they came into the park, and she was the last person that I saw and talk to as we were leaving the park. More on that later. I will try to make this brief, and not ramble too much. We hit the Raven first. Nice coaster, It packs a little punch and I loved the track layout running through the trees. Moved onto The legend. Man, what a coaster, the air-time was good and the pacing is great. Last but not least, The Legend. I am so sorry KI, and The Beast, but the Voyage has taken over as my favorite Wooden Coaster. This air-time machine is great, the twist and turns, tunnels, and just pure raw speed. Three different 90 degree banked curves are totally amazing. This coaster does not let up the entire time. If you haven't rode this coaster, do yourself a favor and go to Holiday World. After taking several spins on the coasters and a few flat rides, we ventured over to the water park. Rode a few slides and took a trip in the lazy river. Then we decided to hit the two water coasters, hit the Pilgrim Plunge, dry off and take one last spin on all the coasters. Mammoth and Wildebeast were fun water rides (KI needs to add on of these type water rides) Both of them were fun and gave a little pop of air-time and fun were had by all. The food was very good. We ate lunch at Kringle's Kafe. I had a Pizza, and fries combo with a cookie. I believe it was around $6. I really enjoyed the free beverages all day. I drank Gatorade all day to keep hydrated. As we were leaving, I ran into Mrs Koch, I told her that I really enjoyed our first time at Holiday World, and told her the staff were super friendly, helpful, and always smiling. She went on to tell me that the following day, that her entire staff was going to do "customer service" training, then asked me if she was wasting her money, after the great comments that I already had for her staff. We laughed and I thanked her again for her time. By far one of my favorite experiences at a park. Side note, If you go to the water park side and want to rent a locker, bring your money. It is $5 to rent and another $5 for a key deposit, the deposit you get back when you return your key. I figured it was like I remembered at KI, with quarter operated lockers. I explained this to the locker rental staff that I was a few dollars short, they said it was OK (others have done the same thing) They rented me the locker for $8.75. I returned my key, thanked them an left with my $3.75. I rate this park and my experience a 10/10. Do yourself a favor and go, if you have never been.
