  1. They topped off MF with snow on the ground so I'm sure they'll do just fine (and yes I know it wasn't Adena that built it). Kudos to those guys though! Can you imagine being that high up, in winter weather, working on cold steel. That's courage, stamina, might etc... As for bad drivers, In Fort Wayne they don't slow down and we have the most rediculous ammount of wrecks. Someone died yesterday. They were stopped at a light, in a low traffic area, and someone plowed into them from behind and sent them into oncoming traffic. Again I note that we need some construction progress.
  2. I'm just anxious for the weather to break so we have something to talk about on here. Not that to, too & two puns aren't a party! -David, who has learned the art of disclaimers and states that he means no offense. Is anyone else really excited about hearing that signature B&M roar come to KI?
  3. ... if you don't get on for a day and miss hearing from people you only know from this site.
  4. I avoided reading this because I thought it was a kid doing a serious TR. Wow, it was hilarious. I woke my daughter up laughing (she's out again, not to worry). The POV idea is priceless. We need to give you an award for best humor! Thanks again! Happy Thanksgiving!
  5. ^Yeah we I rode that with you! I think that was only my second or third life Anyway, I think DB really is one of the most picturesque steel coasters around. The flow of the curves, the way they worked it into the land, the train, and the red and yellow are all just beautiful. I can just stare at the pics, espiecally of the first drop and hill before the helix like I'm lookin at Dali or even good modern steel art. It's just beautiful.
  6. Happy Thanksgiving to everyone here at KICentral. I'm new here and have grown to like you all quite quickly so kudos to this community! (and thanks for putting up with my longwindedness and strong opinions) For those who have fallen on hard times or recently lost a loved one, I hope today brings temporary relief and healing with the joy of family and friends. Even though she was up most of the night with a cold (that I gave her, bad papa) I have been enjoying an early morning of play with my 4 mo. old daughter and look forward to seeing her with all the family today. I really don'y care what we're eating, I'm just happy for the tme off work and school! HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL AT KICentral.
  7. ^ That's a pic of the birth of DB's soul of fury...and let's not forget the speed and venom!
  8. That second hill looks so sweet topped off! Have we come to a consensus on the name? I can't wait to see this hill finished and see the track going through the ravine. To those good people who do the arial photography, I'd love to see some more shots of the back part, the ravine, hammerhead turn and MCBR. Since we can hardly see it through the webcam, I'm just dying with curiosity about the progress.
  9. I didn't skip ahead and made the comment because this was already discussed, proven and finalized but I didn't have time to find it. Sorry.
  10. I think it looks fun. I can unnderstand some of the comments about it being a simple layout and there aren't any inversions because the cars turn but think about all the movement of those cars. You would have all that centripital or centrifuginal force through the rolls like a rail rider and the cars pivot front to back on a horizontal axis. It would be a pretty unique ride experience.
  11. I just want to say that I appreciate all the potos, TR's and event reports cuz I live 4 hrs from KI, I'm in grad school and have a 4 month old. So as much as I'd like to attend events and visit parks more, it's not happening for a couple years and I really thank you all for keeping me in the loop through this site. Returning to the topic of entering and exiting the station. Wasn't it said early on the you cross under the tracks and enter the train from the left (as we look at the above photos) then exit on the right?
  12. I agree with Beast1979. Those elements look awesome but the ride seems really short.
  13. I love the names on those peaks, espiecally Stock Market Summit. Actually, maybe that could be the new name for Drop Zone...or the Crypt since your not sure which way you're going.
  14. I really can't say enough kind words or thank you enough for the arials. They make my day.
  15. That looks like a blast! I am so into the idea of coasters that huge the ground and race through natural, wooded terrain.
  16. I agree that MF has amazing lighting and that it probably wouldn't work on DB. There's just not enought surface to catch the light. Then again, even if they could just illuminate the beams, sparce as they are it would still be pretty cool.
  17. Very cool and thanks for the post. Can't wait to see a pic. What would the chances be of those trains enabling the return of SOB's loop?
  18. Thnx Gordon. I think lights would be great. Imagine how the first hill would look from the road. Bright lights accentuating DB gorgeous structure standing against a dark sky. I was thinking more of a natural setting for the splashdown but some well placed lighting could be noce. Again being a dreamer but imagine red floods, on the train, right by the scoops so they shine through the spray and make it glow red. Lit eyes on the snake head? I do hope the rest of it is dark though, aside from necessary lights on the MCBR like RZ stated. I remember my first night ride ever was on Magnum its innagural year and it was one of the most amazing things ever. Night rides really are a much different experience.
  19. Nice work Avatar. Well written and nice pics. I've got a 4 mo old daughter and you have really given me something to look forward to... not that I didn't already but your pics and tales took it to a whole other level. Thanks! RZ I had been wondering about the gap. I knew it had to do with transfer of weight and force but didn't know how they actually made the final connection. I'm still curious about what looks like I beam (you can correct me on how I should've written that) between the flange and footing (and apologize as I always use the slang term, even when I pour em).
  20. I saw them pour the floor (ground level not loading) it was prbly a week or 2 ago. I think your right about the plastic protecting the track. EDIT: this post was stupid cuz I miss understood the above quote. Sorry. I'm totally blaming newborn daughter induced sleep deprivation and cold medicine intoxication. On a positive note, that second hill is so exciting. I think I'd be willing to pitch in for another webcam to put on top of the Crypt if we could convince Dan H. to install it. I know I'm an optimist/dreamer but I like the idea.
  21. Multiple webcoms isn't that difficult or expensive of technology. It's about the same as security cameras. Looks like they're gettiing ready to raise the crest of the hill before the final helix. Yeah for supports and track.
  22. He's with the webcam wasps 74' Gibson who just had to sorry to stomp or your quote grounds Terpy No offense meant at all KINGSISLANDMASTER Hope I'm sufficiently disclaimered ***full disclaimer available upon written request
  23. Movement is necessary and expected for absorption of force from the trains, wind etc... Check out TTD in the wind or a skyscraper for that mater.
  24. Yeah I laugh at that too, from Fort Wayne. X-Flight is trying to peek through that Firehawk outer shell though. Was that the same company that supplied paint for Top Deck or is KI just paint cursed?
