Have You Ever Ridden a roller coaster...
I don't have a passport, so I wasn't able to add Canada's Wonderland this year. Planning on getting my passport by next summer. I'll be visiting England within the next 5 years and fully intend to make sure I get Alton, Blackpool and Thorpe while I'm there.

How many coasters have you ridden?
108. Which I believe is rather impressive considering I went into the season with 47. 12 new parks later, I've more than doubled it. And that's even with missing half the credits at 2 of the parks! Hoping to pick up about 5 more credits by the end of the season. Posted from my BlackBerry mobile device.

Cedar Point Thrill Checker
^ Afraid of splatting. lol. I'd love to do that. I'm terrified of heights, but if I was well-secured I think I'd be able to do it. After awhile I'd get used to it and be ok.

Throwing items from the Eifel Tower
^ It definitely stings. Especially when it's a muffle head. Those suckers are big! I've only ridden front row of TTD at night once and decided once was more than enough. I'm glad that they are taking things more serious. Sadly, I've seen employees watch people spit and do nothing about it. I pointed out someone that had spit off the tower at Kings Dominion and the employee said "sorry, I didn't see it, I can't do anything about it." I try not to walk under the Eiffel Tower.

Do I believe my eyes?!?
Considering there's nothing on that page, I wouldn't be surprised if they registered it just to keep people guessing, as White Lightning is the current front-runner in the rumor mill for the name. There's probably other ridename.carowinds.com pages that haven't been discovered yet, and the real one will be revealed in all it's glory when the ride is announced.

Strickers Grove - I got a T-shirt
I was looking for shirts to buy. So was most of our group. The only answer we got was "we don't have any." BTW, I saw you several times and didn't realize that was you! I was in the big group of crazies and had on a KI shirt that said "I'd rather ride a woodie" on the back.

AAUgH! I hate Weather! T_T
As long as there is no lightning within a certain radius, all the coasters will operate no matter how hard the rain is. Each coaster has it's own "rain mode" which usually means fewer trains. The wood coasters will only run 1 train, Diamondback will run 2. I have ridden Diamondback and Beast in ridiculously hard rain and gotten soaked worse than a water ride. The best part about hard rain is there are no lines! 16 times on Diamondback in 2 hours! Posted from my BlackBerry mobile device.

Intresting CP Tweet
Isn't togo out of business? That would make me believe that they are just responding to rumors or ruling things out. Still crossing my fingers for a GCI. Or even better, something from Gravity Group! Posted from my BlackBerry mobile device.

Guests Say The Darnest Things
It goes immediately from the cobra roll (first element of the ride after the launch) into a sidewinder inversion. Then the corkscrew at the end is #4. I have the entire layout of that ride memorized.

PTR Indiana Beach 8/5/09
^ that's why Jackson is allowed to go to KI with me. Now an overnight or long distance trip is probably still out, but his parents have met me and I've proved that I'm responsible and get him home when they ask me to. So they're ok with me picking him up and taking him to the park with me. Posted from my BlackBerry mobile device.

Wait, wasn't it you that wasn't allowed to to CoasterMania? Now I understand why.

Best Coaster Under 100' Tall
Steel: Flight of Fear (74') It's my number 3 steel coaster (after Diamondback and Millennium Force). Wood: Legend if you count it. 99' lift hill but the drop is 113'. After Legend, Grizzly at Kings Dominion (87'). All my top 5 wood are over 100' tall (Voyage, Prowler, El Toro, Legend, Beast), and Grizzly is my number 6.

Intresting CP Tweet
GCI!!!!!!! I'm really hoping this isn't another tweet (and Facebook post) to throw us off. I've been hoping for a GCI all along.

A Giga and 76257 Cedar Point Adventure
I'm going on August 26th! But I'll be spending most of the day on Gemini.

anyone stayed at the Motel 6 in Mason?
I recommend the Super 8 that's across the street from the Microtel. It's right next to the highway and if you get a room facing that way you can see the park from it. However, it sits so high up on the hill that you don't hear the highway noise. Gigacoaster2k and myself stayed there the night before opening day and I was very impressed with it. The room was spacious and clean, the property was in very good condition, the staff was friendly and the rate was very reasonable. At the time it was actually the cheapest rate in the area so I was even more surprised by how nice the property was.

A Giga and 76257 Cedar Point Adventure
Wow. I'm really surprised that ID has so much down time. It broke while I was there a week ago and it was down for the rest of the day. Maybe something major broke and it's still down?

A Giga and 76257 Cedar Point Adventure
We were VERY lucky. I'm betting they were running the standard morning tests at 4 or 5 a.m. Or maybe they didn't let it cool down the night before. I don't think they could pull off such a feat on a daily basis. When I was there last week it opened an hour late because one of the brake fins in the launch area wasn't coming up.

Before Diamondback....
I'm going to go with The Beast. It's the park's claim to fame. It's still the longest wooden coaster in the world. And it's still a pretty mean ride! Though Son of Beast is definitely mean, people outside of this area or the enthusiast community really hadn't heard of it. I actually had an argument with someone at SFKK that there was a wooden coaster that had a loop.

Skyflyer/Slingshot
To each their own, but for me I say Skyflyer. I didn't find Slingshot to be that exciting. Plus you're strapped in more hardcore than any coaster I've ever ridden. Skyflyer you're basically laying in a big fabric sling and held by a couple carabiners to a wire! Plus there's the whole pulling your own ripcord versus them doing it. But, I'd say try to do both. Buy your tickets early when they're $5. The ticket is good all day, so you can use it at any point throughout the day. Usually as the price goes up, the lines get shorter, so if the line is really long (though it usually isn't) in the morning, you can come back to it.

Calling all Exceptional Size riders
Most of the coasters have a seat belt that either goes around you or attaches to the restraint. FOF, Vortex, Flight Deck, Invertigo and Drop Tower attach to the restraint. Beast, Racer, Son of Beast (when running) and Adventure Express have a belt that goes around you. Backlot and Diamondback do not have seat belts, instead they use other methods as their secondary restraint system. Flight of Fear I've noticed is a little tighter with the seat belt than it used to be without. You have to get it down to a certain click to get it to buckle on to the restraint. Joker's Jinx's belts are a smidge longer as I was not as crammed in trying to get it to buckle. FOF is also not as fun with the complete stop on the MCBR that the train used to blow right through, but that's not an argument for this thread.

interesting diamondback rides
I'm not real sure why you're so anti seat-assigning. I've never had a problem with it and have only twice out of my 100 rides been turned down for a requested seat. Both times during "power hour" when they were trying to make capacity.

Is it worth the price?
It's worth it if you can make it worth it. I've been to Cedar Point 6 times, Kings Dominion 3 times, and once each to Michigan's Adventure and Worlds of Fun. It's been very much worth it to my husband and I to have the freedom to go "let's go to Cedar Point" and know we don't have to worry about admission and parking. The ERTs are a nice bonus too!

Canada's Wonderland SkyRider
It's got a helix. IIRC, it's missing one out-and-back with a couple airtime bunny hills. It's also missing a trick track section. I don't recall if SkyRider has a trick track though.

Where did the Thrill go?
I think there's some confusion between how everyone views the word "thrill." There's thrill, there's scare, and there's unnerve. Only two rides unnerve me a bit, and that's Demon Drop at CP (because I haven't figured out when it drops and the way it works is just unusual compared to other drop rides I've ridden) and Xtreme Skyflyer. Skyflyer slides over into that "scare" category a little because I cannot help but scream in terror at that first drop when the ripcord is pulled and I'm always just a little afraid that something will go horribly wrong. I consider a "scare" to be something that actually scares you. You are afraid you will not be ok when all is said and done. My mom is scared of falling, she will not ride anything with any sort of hill. However, she's unnerved by Adventure Express, even though it has no big drops. I consider "thrilled" to be having fun. A rush that puts a smile on your face. Almost all coasters do this to me. Unless they are particularly violent or just a snoozer (like Iron Dragon), most coasters are thrilling to me. Some more than others, as some give me a bigger rush. Launched coasters still give me a huge rush, as does Millennium Force. Diamondback is not as much of a rush, but it is still a thrill to me. I still am grinning from ear to ear throughout the entire ride. Voyage is the same, as are Raptor, Legend and Beast. Flight of Fear still gives me a rush, but as much as it used to, so I'll slide it down into this category. I guess the original meaning of the world "thrill" in this thread would be a major rush. So for me, that'd be Xtreme Skyflyer, Dragster, and Millennium Force.

Poll: What ride makes you the most dizzy
Yeah, KI's monster really doesn't like to spin. You've got to do it just right. Uncle Henry's really really good at it, but I'm awful at it. Now, Chaos at CP? I can flip that thing like crazy.
