Flyers leaving; will you still go to PKI?
First of all, PKI's aren't the only snappable ones left. I spent Saturday at Knoebel's, and after a few practice rounds was snapping pretty well. The crowds were also very fond of snapping. (and watching snapping) Secondly, ths ride is special to some... other than just the enthusiast community. I honestly can't figure out the distain some on this board feel for the ride and its fans. Was someone turned down for a date on this ride or something? As someone I was talking to a few days ago said, "What does the outcry about losing the flyers say for PKI's coasters?" There are numbers of people who understand that GOOD flats make for a great park. Love it or hate it, there are/were people who go to the park because of this ride. I am a person who was a die-hard PKI fanboy. As some know, I moved back to Ohio just to be near the park. I even took a PKI job JUST for the experience. I'm simply losing faith that the park will ever be on the same level it used to be. Year by year, the KI magic is eroding into just another corporae park. I'll still visit the park, as will most of my family. We just won't be there nearly as often.

PKI and various park related ebay auctions
The Delirium underwear are great! I have a pair around here somewhere... The only bad thing was how we were instructed to "moon" the cameras while wearing them.

JDRF Walk @ PKI?
They walked around the perimeter of the park in 2002, including some of the places you mentioned.

The Sign is Complete!
Haven't seen it in person, but it was featured on Channel 12 news tonight. It really looks great! I'm sure there's still work to do, but I'm happy just to see a sign there again....

That Brady Bunch episode
I wasn't able to see the early one, so I stayed up and watched the replay at 2:30am. As luck would have it, it was the "Pop-up Video" version. There were a lot of fun facts about the filming, and some facts about the early days of the park's history. *Although a couple of scenes took place at the Kings Island Inn, the cast was not staying there. Instead of spending the then $19 (!) for a room, they were put up at a much cheaper place. The cast and crew complained about the smell of the cheap hotel, and the girls were afraid to shower...the tub was full of spiders. *According to the show, the wait times for the major rides during the filming were almost 2 hours. There were guests getting upset...and somewhat unruly, as the Brady cast was put at the front of the lines to film their scenes. *The "Wheel of Fortune" ride was dismantled 11 seasons after the episode was filmed. *The canoes were chopped 3 seasons after the filming. *As the show was filming, a camera was mounted to The Racer for on-ride shots. Robert Reed, (Mike Brady...who wouldn't even board a ride for the show) thought the camera mounts looked dangerous. Later, a test run with the camera (and no people) was sent out. During the circuit, a camera mount smacked into a support. The crew credited Robert with possibly saving the cast's lives. *The show claims that the park is now covering 700 acres *The most unusual item found at the Lost and Found...a glass eye. There are many more fun facts that have slipped my mind....If anyone else can remember any....please post.

Whats the worst rumor about PKI of all time?
HAHA lmao!!!! Where did that rumor come from??????? Yeah, Brandon, where did you hear THAT!?

HOLIDAY WORLD!
Yeah, yeah, yeah James! You just HAD to call me and rub it in, didn't you?!?! I was soooo bummed about not being able to go. I definitely could have used a few more Raven rides this season. Oh well. We have Kennywood, Knoebels and Six Flags America coming up in a few weeks! Whoo hoo! - Todd, ready to fly at Knoebels We DID get you some wood scraps from Raven, though! I'll even let you get 1st pick of 'em...

HOLIDAY WORLD!
I'm pretty sure Will and Pat both own the park....It's still entirely a family thing. I even think their daughter/sister still runs Splashin' Safari. As for Stella, did anybody else think she sounded kinda hot!??

HOLIDAY WORLD!
You left out the part about the ride home, Brandon! Anway, the park was perfect. The manager cleaning the tram is also the owner. She and I were talking in the afternoon, when I was taking my wet clothes to the car. She actually remembered us from earlier in the Summer. After we talked for a few minutes, she had to go run the Scrambler. Raven really is a perfect ride. We only got 3 rides, but 2 of them were the last of the night. We actually got a double ride. Legend is also incredible, but Raven is the best of the best. If HW ran their Eagles the way PKI runs theirs....the park would be perfect! The only thing I would change is to have them stay open for a few more hours.... Also, the gift shop(s) were $$cheap$$! We got two bags of park stuff for less than $30. So the big question, who here got a phone call Saturday night? (Hablo?)

Fearfest Rides
I'm just hopin' I don't close EVERY night! I miss my ride.

Floral Clock
I, too, will be saddened when the clock goes. Maybe I'm just getting old, but there are a ton of smaller things now gone....things I actually miss. While a lot of these things aren't 'important,' they were some of the things that make Kings Island special. I understand that PKI is a business. A business in a highly competitive industry. I'm thrilled that PKI is able to invest millions year after year....at a time when many parks just struggle to keep the gates open. I just wish that the powers that be start to look at things that need improving. Landscaping is something that needs improvement, IMHO. The park has come a long way since '93...but little things like cracks in the midways, chipping paint, and the pending loss of the floral clock take away from the park experience. I realize that most people (and many of us) don't see what the big deal is, but there are old-timers and first-timers that notice these things. Am I the only one old enough to remember how perfect the park grounds used to look in the 70's and 80's?

Flyers gone
I hate to be the one to tell you this, but Tucker's recently changed their menu...and replaced the popcorn with chicken strips.

9/6/04 Labor Day
I always try to get a ride or two in before my shift. On Sunday, I pretty much gave up when I got to the park. On Monday, I was actually able to score a few rides before my swing. I was also able to get out of work 15 minutes early, which meant I could run back to Eagles, to close 'em out. A friend in management told me a few years ago that during a 3-day weekend, the Sunday becomes the "Saturday." (meaning the busier day) This weekend, that was definitely true....

Flyers gone
I honestly don't see them leaving, but if they do, PKI would be a park I'd visit maybe 2 times per season.... As much as I love this park, they just don't have coasters that I 'love'. The park is well rounded, but without FE...it just wouldn't be the same park. I really don't see them leaving.

The Beast Vs. Thunderhead
I've had over 2,000 rides on Beast, and just 9 on Thunderhead. While I'll always LOVE The Beast...pound for pound I think TH beats it out by a nose. If Beast wasn't so heavily braked, maybe its raw power would sway me back. Thunder Head simply has the whole package...speed, insane drops, tons of air, and lots of suprises. If both were in the same park...They'd compliment each other nicely. Neither is at my #1 spot, but both are still very good, and there's no denying the power of Beast's insane finale.

Kings Island 1000 Times
That puts me right in that family somewhere..... as Karen has recently claimed ME as a son, too! I wanna family reunion!

Kings Island 1000 Times
The funny thing is that I know of someone who has only missed about 20 (!) operating days since 1985. She passed that 1000 milestone YEARS ago! Some of you here know the person I'm talking about. I'm sure Dane knows her....as well as basically EVERY employee at the park. I wonder if she'll get a special day?

Vortex Breaks It's Chain!
I saw what happened. Just after the second loop, something fell from the bottom of the train. It was VERY loud. The train in question continued its course back into the station...and was parked for service. I'm no expert, but it looked like a chain dog, and it happens from time to time. In fact, it's the second time I've witnessed this occurrance in the past month...It's just not that big of a deal. As most of you now know, the ride was back in service the same night.

7/26/04
This is a good week to be an Eagles fan. I can't help but to harass. You know me....I love to fight. Besides, how else would we get to meet all of those security guards?! By the way, tonight was ride #563 for me this season...think I'll make 600 by 8/1?

Kinda, I AM James! So you know if I was getting freaked out, things had to be getting serious!

7/26/04
Too bad you couldn't stay until close. After we saw you exit Beast, we headed back to Scooters for some of the most insane rides any of us have had in a long time. I actually tried to tone my ride down a little...I was that freaked out!

7/14/04
It seems Eagles/ Scooters might be down for a little while In the mid-afternoon, a ride op (who sometimes posts here) noticed a severe listing of the ride. Tubs 10-5 were abut 12" off the ground while tubs 6-9 were MUCH higher off the ground. My baby is broken. I've been told it could take as long as a few days to [who knows] how long to correct the problem. At least I was able to get rides #500 and #501 (this season) two days before....thanks Brad!

Park Webcam Back Online
It used to show the parking lot, RRR, floral clock, monster, and before that...SoB. I used to use the cam to guage how busy the park was, before I'd make the trip up.... Just glad it's up and running again.

Next ride removed
Can someone look at a park guide, and see if the 'tiques still have a corporate sponsor? The sign in front of the ride used to say "Presented by John Nolan Ford." This year, there is no sign of sponsorship in front of the ride itself. It may just be that the dealer ended their inteterest in ride sponsorship...but with what Shaggy said earlier in the season....
