Blue's party?
Nick, why wouldn't that be a good idea? SOAR was held the same day as the KIC DB tour this year. Unless there was a problem I wasn't aware of at either event, both events ran smoothly. I was at both events. I honestly don't think it matters where we hold it or what day it is, unless there's some kind of beef between ACE and KIC that I'm not aware of, which if there is, that is immature, not to mention laughable.. aren't we all here for the same reason? Ryan, my vote is yes for EnterTrainment Junction. I remember Bill Mefford speaking about the place at ACE Winter SOAR last year. It seems like a very interesting not to mention historic place. I just never went there, even though I've been wanting to.

New Forum Skin
I like it. It has a cleaner, brighter, and more organized look. Just gave it a whirl on my BlackBerry Curve 8330.. I found the menu to be more user friendly, and easier to navigate. I give the new KIC an A+. Great job, guys!

The Son of Beast Discussion Thread
Obviously you have never been on GCI's Millennium Flyer trains. It's like tiny sofas on wheels.. and yes, it made the ride experience better. I don't ride uncomfortable, painful, shaky roller coasters that jackhammer me to the point where I drink out of a bottle of Aleve. That to me is NOT thrilling. If the comfort of the riders wasn't taken into consideration, then it should never have been built in the first place. This is also why I stay off that monstrosity known as Mean Streak at CP. KI has plenty of coasters that don't make me feel like I may as well have climbed into a wooden barrel and rolled down a rocky mountainside.

Steel coasters fall into a completely different category.. I do not mix wood and steel in my top 10, nor do I mix them in comparisons to each other. Apples and oranges, my friend.

The Son of Beast Discussion Thread
I'm a firm believer in the fact that some coasters don't have to have a large footprint to be the best. SoB and Mean Streak are both significantly tall wooden coasters with a large footprint. They both also put me in quite a bit of pain. I understand that SoB's height was built to break a record, but I have a hard time believing that they took guest comfort into consideration when it was built. I understand that there are some who enjoy it, but from what I gather, there is a significantly larger percentage of people who don't enjoy it, including those who have been injured on it. Look at GCI for a perfect example of why wooden coasters don't need to be record breakers to be the best. Evel Knievel at Six Flags STL is a perfect example of this. It has a height of only 88 feet and a compact layout, yet it was one of the most mind blowing wooden coasters I've been on. With that said, I will say as nicely as I can that I've come to realize that my daily life will go on no matter what SoB's fate ends up being. Leave the creativity and ingenuity to GCI and TGG, and stop trying to build ridiculously prominent wooden coasters with little to no foresight as to how well it will ride. Some may be offended by and/or disagree with what I've said, but that's how I feel about it.

HoliWood Nights OR CoasterMania, but not both, or not all of both
Every time I've ever been to CP on a scheduled ERT (I went to both CM and Maverick ERT night this year), let me tell you, it was ridiculous how long the lines were. At HWN, and the other 4 times I went this year, I can remember ONE line, ONE time that we really had to wait for a coaster. Every other time I went, every coaster was practically a station wait every time. The ERT during HWN was terrific. Station waits for every coaster. Go ahead, go to CM if you want long, long lines and poorly planned ERT that overlaps with the behind the scenes tours, when you can go on any cloudy Sunday and get more rides in on that Sunday than you will ever dream about getting during one of CP's ERT events. I'm going to HoliWood Nights, and that is final.

DORNEY is getting DEMON DROP?!
http://www.cedarpoint.com/public/fun/blog/...db-2fbfcedb0310 So let me get this straight. They decide to move DD to KBF, and you guys get mad that it's going to be so far away, which was understandable.. KBF is well over 2,000 miles from CP. It was about to go to the other side of the country. Then they decide to move it to Dorney, which is less than 500 miles away from CP, and also could be done on a PA coaster trip or on the way to SFGAdv. It's in the next state over. And you guys are STILL mad? Wow.

HoliWood Nights OR CoasterMania, but not both, or not all of both
Bolliger's speech will likely be on YouTube the next day. It's HoliWood Nights for me, without a doubt. As much as I love Cedar Point: I was nonplussed with the ERT scheduling this year, and next year it doesn't look any better. I was also baffled and annoyed by the fact that the lines for ERT were outrageous. CP was a ghost town when I went on July 5.. EVERY QUEUE was completely empty, if not a 5 minute wait. I got a total count of 36 rides in 13 hours, and still had time for a walk on the beach. I don't need a special event, I just need a cloudy Sunday or Tuesday with a chance of rain. With all due respect to CP, CoasterMania just isn't worth it to me.

Best haunt moments
Going through Trail of Terror and Massacre Manor with Ryan (BoddaH1994) and Gabriel (Captain Nemo) torturing me and picking on me while my dad just watched and laughed Also going to Haunt with Tom (Tom76257) and David (Dvo) aka feeling VERY short while walking between two guys over 6' tall (I'm only 5'5), and being the target of all the scareactors regardless of the fact that I had 2 extremely tall guys with me Oh, and can't forget running into a certain stalker at Urgent Scare rawr, she was hot hahaha

VIP Rider
I chose Mav because as much as I love so many other coasters, 95% of the time the wait is 10 minutes or less for my favorites. The only time I've seen a huge wait for Magnum was on a Saturday during a holiday weekend, or HalloWeekends. I have noticed that as the day wears on, Voyage's line gets shorter and shorter. DB's line moves quickly too, and so does Raptor's. I lost count of how many times I was able to run all the way through the queue to the station and jump right on a seat on coasters at KI, CP, and HW. I go to parks on cloudy Sundays or Tuesdays, or when there's a chance of bad weather.. it's SO WORTH IT to drive 3-4 hours to see a deserted parking lot, and running to your favorite coaster to see that the only people there are ride ops, waiting for someone to come ride

VIP Rider
Maverick at Cedar Point. It always has at least an hour wait, and even during ERT it fills up quickly.

Mason: No Admissions Tax.... For Now
"John Hildebrandt, vice president and general manager of the amusement park, said Monday that Cedar Point will support a 0.25 percent increase in the admissions tax next year if city residents approve a 0.25 percent income-tax hike this November." Mason did not ask for the city residents' input. They merely held a council meeting and everyone spoke their mind about how they feel the tax will negatively and/or positively impact the economy and local businesses, etc. I still do not know whether the vote will be up to the council or if it will be up to the city residents. Mason is IMPOSING a 3% admissions and 5% parking tax on its residents. Cedar Point is allowing city residents to vote on a 0.25% admissions tax. There is a big difference.

Kings Island Online Store
Hopefully they have shirts of all sizes in that store.. *coughHINTcough* Being a female with a small build, it frustrates me when I go into an amusement park's store to shop for a coaster shirt, only to see that the only available sizes are for toddlers and large men.

Best LOOKING coaster at Kings Island
My vote goes to Racer. I have a weakness for wooden coasters. As much as I love DB, Racer just has that classic wooden coaster appeal that every amusement park needs.

HoliWood Nights OR CoasterMania, but not both, or not all of both
Jackson, thank you for that link. I can't wait for HoliWood Nights 2010.. if it's ANYTHING as special as it was this year, you can bet anything that I will be there for every minute of that event.

What I would like to know is, which park usually opens first? Or are their opening days usually the same?

Roughest CF Wooden Coaster
I rode in the middle, and came off with a headache, backache, and a bruise on my right side. I had to take several painkillers so I could enjoy the rest of my day at KI. If that is "trying to fit in," then so be it. I don't enjoy rides that beat the living hell out of me.. if I'm going to ride a coaster and come off with a bruise, at least Magnum XL-200 is worth it.

Roughest CF Wooden Coaster
Roughest: Mean Streak Hated on the most: Blue Streak at Cedar Point Old Blue is so underrated.. it may have a small footprint, but it gives great pops of airtime.. especially since the ancient lap bars don't give you less than 2 inches of space on the lowest click. So many people I know say it is too rough, and that makes me sad. It's a classic John Allen. It's 45 years old.. it's going to be a tad rough, but it's nothing I can't handle.

Season pass
I have a stupid question. For the platinum pass 4-pack, it says $144. Is that $144 a piece, or $144 total for all 4 passes? I've never purchased them that way before.

Voyage to get new trains for 2010
As Gary (Beast79) already stated, there is a divider between the seats. So it's not like you could fly out. Besides, have faith in the ride ops that check and clear every lap bar on the train before it leaves the station. I highly doubt that GG would release these trains on such a prominent coaster if they were declared unsafe. They have already been tested on Raven, another one of Holiday World's coasters.
