Bring back attractions/add new attractions
...or the Tumblebug! Is that too old for today's crowd?

Banshee Construction Progress
I agree completely! I didn't know what to think about the company taking over at first, adding new rides and attractions that everyone wanted is one thing, but maintaining public appeal by considering historical elements is another completely. I don't mind a business considering bottom line (which is always necessary), but every business has the opportunity to consider what is best for their customers and I believe Cedar Fair does a good job balancing the two. On a side note, it's interesting to see how public interest has exploded with attraction announcements. Most of the announcements up until to Diamondback were like corporate meetings that the public was invited to...then Banshee comes along and it's like a full blown rock concert! I see nothing but a promising future for this park!

A question about press/media kits
All I am really interested in locating are press photos (or professional photos) of the Smurfs Enchanted Voyage and The Beastie. I have numerous press photos in my collection. I've been collecting this stuff since 1999 and know that there are press photos of the original Enchanted Voyage out there (I have a pic on my old computer), but not sure if they ever released a press kit or photos with text once the ride was re themed. I knew The Beastie was a long shot and realize that I will likely have to begin searching old photography dealers that acquired these professional prints for usage in magazines and newspapers - as I did for all the other photos in my collection. My question was more for the past and not the current, but was interested in seeing what responses I would get none-the-less.

I didn't intentionally "omit" the photo. As you can see by the post following the one you quoted, I stated that the grey appeared to be blue because it was likely Gunship Grey - which has a hint of blue in it.

A question about press/media kits
That's an interesting thought. I do know of a press photo taken for the original Enchanted Voyage and have one for Phantom Theater. I don't know if these were included in a large kit, as you've suggested, or if it was an exclusive attraction kit.

Here you go...8 from the left, top row. Very similar to this pic that was also taken in 2000:

It is likely Gunship grey which is technically a dark grey with a blue tinge And really, that is the way I remember it. I do think the photo is old and reflecting the colors weird.

Top Gun/Flight Deck/The Bat paint jobs
There are actually quite a few clues in this pic that suggest a time table better than my recollections. It appears that SOB was just completed and the camp ground in the background is very much intact. So, my memory serves me correct that 2000 is a fair estimate on the year this photo was taken.

I believe that occurred when the color scheme was first changed from the red track. Sometime around 2000.

A question about press/media kits
I was curious if Kings Island utilizes press/media kits solely for new attractions exclusively or if they have been used for rebranded/rethemed existing attractions as well? More specifically, were press kits made for the Smurfs Enchanted Voyage and The Beastie? I want to save myself the headache of hunting these two items down, if they don't exist. Any info would be appreciated!

Banshee Construction Progress
Those were my thoughts exactly. And, this is why there should be very little concern for the Banshee and it's "mystic red". It will no doubt turn into "hazy purplish" within a few seasons!

Banshee Construction Progress
I meant the shade of orange looked darker than I imagine, dark orange looks almost red. When I saw it a few weeks ago it was much lighter than I expected. I was actually expecting a darker shade of orange, like the original Bat color scheme. However, I like the way it is turning out none-the-less. It really gives the coaster a distinction from it's Top Gun color of red. I'm wondering how much darker they will go on the supports - if at all...

Amateur footage of Coney
Although not related directly to the topic of vintage Coney Island videos, here is another that caught my eye of a guy in Middletown that restored a Turnpike vehicle from Fantasy Farm to the tune of the Rocky IV soundtrack. I'm glad there are people around that do this kind of thing. Pretty snazzy workmanship [\youtube]

Amateur footage of Coney
I stumbled upon these while searching for another piece of footage. It is truly amazing to see new footage like this pop up on the net that would otherwise be buried away in someones closet or attic. Enjoy This video appears to be the grand opening of the Turnpike. Yes, they are Flash. Photobucket is a pretty poor place to host videos because of their limited storage (2 GB) and bandwidth (10 GB/month) for free users, and even Plus users have limited storage (varies with amount paid) and limits on video length (10 minutes) and file size (500 MB). All photo-hosting sites I've seen have many limits on videos (Flickr, for instance, limits them to 3 minutes long). Videos really should be uploaded to a dedicated video-hosting site such as YouTube, which enforces no bandwidth, storage, length*, or file size* restrictions and uses HTML5 on browsers that support it instead of Flash. *although uploading videos longer than 15 minutes or larger than 1 GB requires a one-time account confirmation code to be sent to your cell phone I typically upload to youtube, but like to keep short clips such as these on the photobucket account.

I took a few videos during my visit last week. I had a great time and encourage anyone who has not yet gone to EJ to stop by and check it out! If the videos do not appear, let me know and I'll attach a direct link.
