  1. I know Id have a very hard time looking at "my" old park every single time I looked out my window, or was outside in my yard on any given day. I cant even imagine how hard it is for a guy with his ego, so that probably plays into it as well. I dont even like seeing a car Ive once owned, after Ive sold it.
  2. Having four trains, and RUNNING four trains, are two entirely different things. The steps to using Wiki, should be A)Dont use Wiki, and B)Revert to step A. From what I remember from reading previous reliable statements on this site, the fourth train was, and likely still is being used for parts. Edit, lol, I was writing this at roughly the same time Terpy was writing/posting His response.
  3. That park was by far the one I thought of first when I thought "In what Universe were the heads of those who thought this would be a good idea?" Im sorry, but lets be honest, thats about as sound an idea as leaving a new Corvette in the parking lot of that same park, running.
  4. And as I said, I thought very clearly, UNLESS its as good as Fury 325 (so, yes I know what a B&M Giga is and can do/does). THAT is what I meant when I said "KI does not need a 100ft taller version of Diamondback". In other words, since further explanation is needed, I dont wish to see a faster version of a snore-machine. As for the rest, I think Terpy covered that part pretty well. Edit: Since I have no desire to see this opinion thread turned into yet another debate thread, I will re-iterate that... like I said in my post in the first place.... Id really like to see a terrain hugging twisty GCI similar to Prowler. Sparky, saying bye-bye to yet another thread.
  5. Id honestly like to see a GCI the likes of Prowler at the park. I feel they could work it into an X-Base expansion, and unless the park could guarantee a Giga thats as good as Fury 325, the fast, twisty GCI would be the better idea. The park doesnt need a 100ft taller version of Diamondback.
  6. The unfortunate truth sometimes in Marketing is that, things EXACTLY like that happen. In some people's eyes and Harts, any PR is good PR, whatever gets people talking or looking at a website is good. Thats why there are so many clickbait articles on social media websites. That, again, is why I stick so strongly by the statements I made in my previous post. Edit: Im not saying that is what is happening here, what I am saying is dont ever totally discount those types of theories. PR and Marketing Departments dont always have the best interests of the general public in mind. Dont let the smiling faces fool you, they are smiling for a reason.
  7. Please, please NO! One Tony is (more than) enough. I will never get used to, or be fond of, the Cloak and Dagger BS that this industry pulls. It was explained to me WHY they do it once, but to that explanation I say this (I know who explained it to me very well back in 2011 will see this)... Wouldnt it just be easier to wait until you have the plans approved, contractors awarded, etc to announce something instead of a year (or sometimes more) of extraneous junk that really isnt needed, like announcements of announcements of announcements? Not even the auto industry... who has a LOT more at stake... doesnt go to the extent this industry does. Regardless of how they pull things like this, in the end, there are still going to be those youngins who end up saying "Well that sucks, X park lied to us with what they were saying, they basically SAID they were going to give us a giga!!" In the minds of some thoosies, the word "basically" means "absolutely". So, instead of having the problem, just come out and say "Hey, this is just piles of dirt from such and such an area" or say "Yep, something is going to be built here, we are just not ready to say WHAT, yet". Sorry, thats just how I think because of the industries Ive been around and worked in my entire Life, carry on.
  8. And Im willing to bet Expedia or hotels.com smokes them in both price and better "terms and conditions".
  9. I honestly dont think the economic climate in that area.... or in the Country for that matter.... is receptive to any type of development of the land, regardless of how inexpensive the initial purchase price. Unfortunately, if it IS purchased, I see a long standing vacant lot.
  10. If you get even one of those, buy a Powerball ticket immediately, because you will have proven yourself to be the luckiest individual on this Planet.
  11. You deserve a Medal of Honor (or maybe a Purple Heart) for that.... Id last about 30 seconds.
  12. I remember seeing an urban exploration video of the place not too long ago, and every single ride and attraction I saw was in worse shape than Big Dipper at GL. If that isnt salvageable, then rides (specifically coasters) that sat with good portions of their supporting structures in flood water surely arent.
  13. Edited to delete.... no good can come of furthering the discussion here.... nothing to see here.
  14. Its not that there werent companies that couldnt have smoothed it out and made it work, its that the cost estimates that may or may not have been given, were out of the realm of what Corporate Management wished to invest.
  15. I see what you did there ... and in regards to age, I will be 42 in 22 days, and I still enjoy getting a Mean ride every time Im on the peninsula. All I wish, is that A)Trim Brake Fair would remove the trim on the first drop and ease WAAAYYYY up on the MCBR and B)They had spent the money on an RMC update instead of on the 1 trick pony they are currently building. Again, not that I think the ride is too Mean, but more simply to see how crazy RMC could go with it. Since Im rambling, and to keep on topic, I think the title of the article is only half right. I think the only reason the ride went "too far" is because they didnt go "far enough" in regards to investing the proper amount of money with a better builder/designer/engineering firm.
  16. I can promise, if I were the Prosecutor in this case, Id submit both booking photos as evidence to show a very obvious lack of remorse or concern to the consequences of their actions. They look like they are posing for Glamour Shots!
  17. Especially for those (like me) who read and heard first hand accounts of the dismal level of service provided by those who staffed and Managed the various food service establishments within the park last year. Those accounts were enough to make me pass on the $135 upcharge for All Season Dining on my pass this year.
  18. Come on now everyone, thats clearly the location of the new X-Base restrooms! Its a bird, its a crane, its a divers... is it?
  19. This whole idea makes the Edsel look like the Corvette..... or for you little boys and girls, makes SOB look like El Toro.
  20. Ahhhhh, so in other words, when Mother Nature creates a variance in how the mechanical coaster operates, the VR system is going to pause or slow down the "action" seen through the View Finder type devices. How nice, just like watching a streaming video on dial-up
  21. Oh, you mean "Amusement Park Wiki"? On the L.R. front, that possibility...combined with the disaster (literally and figuratively) on I75.... both contributed to my Wife and I scrubbing the plans for that weekend.
  22. Upon further thought, I am happy I have not booked anything, because this very well may cancel the trip for us. I simply dont have the mindset, nor the patience/desire, too put up with the delays and inconveniences this is going to cause.
  23. I found a good alternate, that doesnt add that many miles, and only a calculated 35 minutes.... at least 20 of that I will make up by hammering down while still on the Interstate....to the trip.
