  1. That HAS to have been my problem. I wonder if maybe the steel structure and a decade of changes and upkeep from the original "as built" design prints have made so temperamental. What I rode was just as bad as SOB. Except it lasted quite a bit longer. I really want to go back this fall now. :\

Rode Millennium Force a decade ago in a down pour... That was a life changing experience.
  3. Yeah that's the tradition on both. I also think maybe I'm used to 3 row cars that have the lovely middle row. I strictly rode in the front of a car each time except for one time on raven in the very back.
  4. It was a 90 degree day... So maybe that played into it.
  5. Just got back from Holiday World, I woke up a bit late so just decided to spend the day at HW instead of HW/KK. I went in with some great expectations... and well I'm not sure they were met. I don't want to post a whole Trip Report... but I might just make a post more in depth about my thoughts. But long story short. A lot of people act like Beast and Racer are rough. But after riding Raven, Legend and Voyage beast felt like a stones throw away from a new GCI. Maybe it's also because I'm a bigger person and just how I fit in the trains, but The Voyage severely reminded me of SOB. My legs did the same left and right lateral shemi through a lot of the turns. I was happy I went, but man, I kind of wish they could fix Voyage or I'd have went 10 years ago when I was doing this stuff. I was expecting this world class wood coaster maintenance that I thought I'd heard about. Anyone else feel the same way?
  6. That's actually a really odd scenario. My guess is that they were having an issue with the circuit that locks and unlocks those lap bars. (There are different circuits for every so many cars to trigger up and down bars) Since it was every train it would have to be something related to that.
  7. Yeah, reading people *****ing on FB is great. Just imagine what the parks guest relations has to put up with. Seems like the topic of the month is that people don't want to pay for the hard park if all they are doing is the waterpark. Well they forget the waterpark is technically an addition to the hardpark. KI isn't setup to charge for them separately and if they did it'd probably be a ton more crowded. They also complain about wanting a chaperon wrist band because they arent riding anything or are just at the waterpark with their kids and shouldn't have to pay to get in. The general public is a most interesting thing. I honestly don't know how they can go through life not questioning why things are the way they are. But I guess critical thinking isn't as natural as it comes to some of us.
  8. Vekomas are a bit more breakdown friendly. Since you're on your back on the lift and brake runs. This probably would also be a big better in an evac scenario. It's a small thing that a lot of people will never experience. But I'd much rather be on my back if I was stuck on a ride for 30 minutes than on the restraint side.
  9. This doesn't look particularly fun. I'm sure it would be a great addition at smaller parks/carnivals/fairs but I don't really see a place in big parks. Especially when they are already dumping boomerangs because of the capacity.
  10. I guess I can put off going this evening.
  11. anyone know how the lines are today?
  12. Probably to keep people from deciding "oh the train is here and I'd rather go to the waterpark better just run down the tracks"
  13. An overnight stay really isn't possible.
  14. Would it do a disservice to do this park and Kentucky Kingdom the same day? I tend to kind of like to experience the parks and I don't always like to just hit the big coasters and blow back out the gate. But both parks are on the smaller end and technically Holiday World as far as the clock goes is 20-30 minutes away from KK. (they are an hour behind). I doubt I'll be taking advantage of the waterpark and I'd be going to KK first to make the best of the timezone advantage at HW. Thoughts?
  15. Are the parks just handing out headsets or are they headsets part of the trains on coasters using VR? Cause honestly, a simple ipod touch with a simple headset mount would suffice. They could rent them out at the front of the line to people who want them and then they get returned down the exit. This would really simplify the process and cut costs a bit.
  16. I'm still debating going, I probably honestly won't go to the waterpark at all since I'd likely be by myself and be way to self conscious. Any idea if Thunderbird has the longer belts in 4 and 5? I can fit on Banshee but it's tight and they have to give it a good nudge. Will HW be accommodating in helping with this or are they a bit hands off?
  17. On beast and racer cross your legs so that the leg infront of the arm of the lapbar isn't in the way as much and you should be fine. Banshee has longer belts in rows 4 and 5 (they'll be red). The bar will have to go down a bit further even after the belt is clicked in. Diamondback is going to depend on how big your legs are right between your knee and thigh (the bar is tightest on me right there, it barely even touches my stomach. Banshee is close to this way to.) Dropzone will likely bet the tightest fit, I wouldn't plan on it if there is a line, if their is you can go up the exit to try a seat out. We have really close the the same dimensions from the sound of it. People are honestly a bit too carried away with their own day to notice you struggling to get a bar down. It happens on some rides with multiple people every cycle. The OPs are used to it and will help you out the best they can.
  18. The problem is you can't really just market a tilt a whirl. They would want something with an obvious return on investment, and a simple small flat isn't going to help that.
  19. They could, I also think a lot of parks are scared of the newer flats as far as reliability goes. I've been out of the loop for awhile though, I was surprised to find out that so many Huss giants have already been being removed from parks.
  20. I'm debating going there on the 11th. But can't make up my mind if it's going to be worth the drive if I'm not a big water park person.
  21. We really need something where Flight Commander used to be... I think parks of this size don't really have a marketable high capacity ride that would fit there. WindSeeker would have been to large, and a lot of the smaller flats really wouldn't get anything out of the investment unless they are part of like a kids area retheme/addition. I'm willing to bet we will see something back there whenever Vortex has given it's last ride. I'm also surprised they took out Action FX theater, but I guess it was causing a bit of a headache for maintenance.
  22. ^ Yeah everything has a mechanical machining tolerance... So what is literally a .1 or .01 on the small end where the locks and harness assembly attached. You get quite a bit different at the very bottom of the harness where it presses against you. Depending on the length of the overall harness of course.
  23. Back the last time I was there in like 07, Wicked Twister was the only one I had an issue on. Intamins OTSRs are just tight. Drop Zone at KI is the same.
  24. Are they just running 1 train on it?
