Diamondback Construction Thread (Updated 3-19-09)
Raptor has huge capacity but on a busy Saturday its giant queue area is still usually filled up. I still don't think the queue area for Diamondback is going to be big enough.

Diamondback Construction Thread (Updated 3-19-09)
Was just looking at photo of queue area. Considering the demand for this ride, I am not sure it is big enough to prevent conjestion on the midway. The Raptor and MF queue areas look like they are 3-4 times the size. Also the more the line snakes back on the midway, the greater the chance of line cutting.

Bolliger and Mabillard at opening day?
Any news on whether or not Mr. ( or should I say Monsieur) Bolliger and Mabillard will be appearing for opening of Diamondback?

What's the Majority age group here in the Ki Forum
I'm just joking. I'm 48. The old saying " a person of a certain age " refers to people in in the middle to senior years ( usually women ) who don't reveal their ages.

Whats the tallest roller coaster youve ridden
Kinga Ka this past June.

Diamondback entrance?
As long as I can remember it has always been Cedar Fair's policy ( at least with CP) going back to the early years of Magnum to let you get in line for a ride until the closing time of the park and everyone in line at closing got to ride even on busy Saturday nights when the park closed at midnight.

What would you like changed to KI in the next five years?
I've said it before and I will say again. In order to enforce the line jumping rules, they need to have police patrolling the lines. You cannot expect the ride operators to enforce the rules as you are putting them in a potentially violent situation. Line jumping is a security issue and needs to be treated as such.

Official Details on Kings Island's Ride Warriors Weekend! (ERT Info Released!)
It is my understanding that you don't have to pre-register ahead of time for Ride Warriers weekend. Is that correct?

What ride was open the year you were born
None. I was born in 1960 and KI was not open yet. Old Coney Island was where we went when I was little and Shooting Star was the king of all coasters.

What's the best ride at KI or any other park that you've been on at night?
Definately Millenium Force is best night ride. Going down the first drop feels like you are going into a bottomless pit.

food prices
Lately I have been packing a cooler of food and drinks and having a nice picnic lunch on the grass island by the KI sign. There are nice shady trees there. Not only do you save money but you end up getting better food than inside the park.

Hands Up or Down?
The "head chop" portion of Gemini intimidates me- I lower my hands onto my head at that part of the ride.

Mystery Construction at Cedar Point
While CP may be weak in the area of wooden coasters, I have to say Blue Streak ranks with the best of the classic wooden coasters. T As to the rumored coaster at CP, I am hoping for a woodie like El Toro. Has anyone heard about any possilbilities of CP breaking the 500 foot barrier? I doubt it with the headaches in the early years of TDD but one never knows.

Hands Up or Down?
Hands up. Maybe its just my imagination but I think holding the hands up relieves the g's especially on Top Thrill Dragster. Also I like the feeling of freedom.

I'll be there at event. I can't wait. Cannot beat the price.

What are your opening day plans?
I plan to get to the park early and get right in line for DB. I don't care how long the line is or if there are mechanical issues-I'm not budging from the DB queue area until I have my first ride. ( That reminds me- have to stop at Staples to get one of those things that you click so I can keep count of my DB rides. The name of that gadget escapes me.)

Hi Everybody
I just wanted to let you know I've missed you all. It has been months since I've been on this site. Have been very busy with family matters. However I'm back and cannot wait to see everybody this coming season.

Classic Coney Pictures and Video
How I loved the Cuddle Up. Why oh why KI did you have to remove the Cuddle Up?

TO: Line Jumpers especially adults.
While I do agree that there should be a zero tolerance toward line jumpers, it is not worth risking a physical confrontation to confront the line jumper nor should park guests be expected to risk physical confrontations. I've said it before and I will say it again. There should be more park police and security patrolling the line queues.

Cedar Point for 09
There was a four year gap between Top Thrill Dragster (2003) and Maverick. (2007)

Kings Island has some of the oldest rides
I disagree. Part of Cedar Point's charm is indeed the classic amusement park feel. While Kings' Island, in my opinion, has overdone it in removing many of the wonderful classic rides ( Cuddle Up, Bavarian Beetle, Rotor, Antique Cars.) Cedar Point has allowed many of the old rides ( Cedar Downs, not one but two antique car rides, their version of old Coney Island's Cloud Nine )to coexist with the high tech coasters. The front midway of Cedar Point to me is very similar to the midway at Old Coney Island.

Enchanted Voyage Postcard
Loved Enchanted Voyage, especially that song. I agree that KI made a big mistake getting rid of one of its signature attractions.

Just wondering who was behind Diamondback
Diamondback will open approximately 3 years after Cedar Fair's acquisition of KI. Millenium Force, Top Thrill Dragster and Maverick all opened 3 years apart and, if I am not mistaken, planning on Beast started in 1976, about three years before its opening. It would, therefore, appear to me feasible that Diamondback was never planned in the Paramount years.

The Bradys Return to KI Photos
In addition to riding Racer with them, got to meet and chat with them. They were so warm and down to earth. Thank you Susan, Barry and Mike. Please come back soon ( don't wait another 35 years) and bring back the rest of the gang.
