  1. 1. Yes, which is why I'm saying that they shouldn't spend it in the first place. 2. Completely? Noooooo... When was the last time SoB was retracked completely? A little late if the accident already happened? Coasters can shut off before there is an accident
  2. So Mitch is God now? Why does his opinion matter more than any? Jackson Toyota had a glitch in their mechanics, if SoB has a glitch in a mechanical issue the ride shuts itself down. Cars dont shut themselves down. So again yes they are both machines, I am not denying that. But they are 2 different types of machines. Apples and Oranges.
  3. . . That would be a sunk cost at that point. Just like the 30 million already invested. Do they not retrack every wooden coaster in the park every year? Wooden coasters need more maintenance than steel, no matter how good or bad the ride is.
  4. What you say is true but you can not make the comparison between cars or any other mechanical machine you listed to a coaster. THEY ARE NOT THE SAME. A computer network system does not have the ability to kill people. The experience of a car is different than the experience of an amusement park. It apples to oranges
  5. How many cars can fit 20 or more people in them? How many cars run automatically, or steer by themselves? Cars need humans to get from one point to another, coasters need a mechanical boost then physics take over. So you have not surveyed EVERYONE who visits Kings Island to ask them if they would ride SoB if opened? My point is there is no way any of us can accurately say yay or nay on this ride because we do not have all the information. And it just ironic that you tell others not to be biased but fail to be unbiased yourself.
  6. And how many people can say "look a light is burnt out, I can tell a difference from last time". I mean really that ride has how many lights on it, who is really going to notice or care?
  7. Shaggy how can you compare a car with a Coaster? Where are you getting 75% of the people dont want to ride SOB?
  8. Cedarpointer how many times must you read sunk costs are irrevelant. I really hope you never take a Economics class, as you would certainly fail if you can not grasp that concept. Also did KI not gamble when they installed Diamondback? Every big decision KI makes is a risk, so should they not take that risk? We ALL know you hate SOB, but try and not be a one sided politician. There are 2 sides to everything, not just your side. Yes SOB has had some major issues, but does that mean it has no potential to be great? Absolutely not.
  9. I dont know Toyota's have problems accelerating
  10. Do KI worker ids get you VIP benefits at CP?
  11. I was working on saturday as a sweeper and got sent home early. I understand why they have to, I am lucky to have a job with the company millions of dollars in debt
  12. Does not look like it is raining on the webcams
  13. I saw a lady in Rivertown on saturday doing stuff on her labtop
  14. Look at the comparisions for the most part CP thrill rides have no comparison down here. The rides excluding Magnum and Max Air, that are comparable are family rides and Kings Island wins those. Like a lot of people are saying, people come from all over to CP, KI attracts mainly people from Cincy, Dayton, and families from Kentucky, Indiana, West Virginia.
  15. My point was and has been, KI and CP do not go after the same audience. When you see a CP commercial do you ever see snoopy? When you see a KI commercial you see now Snoopy, use to be Spongebob and Scooby. The two parks are not alike and do not bring in the same audience.
  16. You can also join groups like Save Son of Beast from KI website
  17. TG was one of the best wooden coasters and deserves the investment. Can the same be said for SoB? Onto the other discussion... No. KI has not marketed to families, and CP has not marketed to thrill seekers. They have both marketed to all guests. CP has not added just coasters to keep up with their 12 year run at the Golden Tickets, and KI has not just added to Nick Central/ U just to keep their 9 year run going as well. CP has three seperate kid's areas (how many parks can say that?), and has renovated them numerous times. CP also caters to families with: great shows for all family members, sandy shores of Lake Erie, and on-site hotels and restaurants. KI added 4 coasters and three major thrill rides from 1996 to 2006. Most of those thrill rides at their inception were cutting edge. So you really think that if CP and KI were not sister parks and could get in each other with one pass, that the CP guests would travel to KI because their parks are similar. Again look at all the rides at CP and all the rides at KI, few are comparable. AE vs CCMR. Adventure Express wins easily Max Air vs Delirum. Advantage Max Air. Racer vs Gemini. Racer. Magnum vs Diamondback. Tough choice hard to choose. ID vs FD. Easily FD. That about all the comparisons. KI has nothing compared to WT, TTD, MF, Mantis, Raptor, Maverick, Wildcat, Blue STreak. Those are just the coasters. Kings Island can not be compared to CP. There are reasons why. Even Kings Island admits that in todays 5@5
  18. I didn't retract any of my statement.
  19. It certainty helps when you are the only amusement park with 4 coasters over 200 feet tall, and most coasters in any park. Also throw in an amazing night show with lasers, good quality food, some great flats and that will get you the award. I never said that was the only reason they got that award 12 straight awards
  20. A lot of guys do probably
  21. This is basic marketing. Kings Island markets towards families, while Cedar Point markets towards thrill riders. Which is why Kings Island is the best kids area 9 straight years and Cedar Point the best amusement park 12 straight years
  22. Wow, really it been that long. Crap I remember hearing that on the radio. Now I feel old
  23. Thank you grandson, those seven years CP put in rides as well. How many of those ride are targeted for families 0. For KI 2 of those additions are family attractions. Then look at the comparisons Max Air vs Delirum. Max Air wins. That is all that can be compared.
  24. Yes Competition is good, but there is very little comparison in CP and KI. Whether CF owns both or not people will attend both parks because they are different. KI is and has always been about bringing in families. CP wants to bring in thrill riders. Each park has a different target audience.
  25. And few years back redone by the Red Hot Chilli Peppers
