6/22 Great Visit
Sounds like you had a blast! We are taking our 4 year old for the first time on Sunday, his birthday (he'll be 5). It's interesting to see which rides your daughter enjoyed and didn't... we'll see how Joe fairs. deb

Saturday 06-23-07
I'll try FH on a weekday. I didn't get much sleep the night before, so I knew FOF would beat the living nonsense out of me (Vortex, Beast and Racer had already shaken a few good bones loose; you gotta be up to your game at 38 against the Giants of KI!) I'll get in my FoF track time sometime later this year, after a good 10-hour snooze. Last time we went, FoF was the 2nd smoothest ride we rode... after Firehawk. But it was the only time I've ridden it without the OTSR. deb

Beast
I think the banked drop after the second lift hill is flawless, and one of my favorite parts of the ride. I'd be sorely disappointed if it were altered to the point it didn't FEEL like The Beast. deb

LEAST favorite ride?
See, I don't ride it now. Back when I did ride it, I didn't know there was a pool at the very bottom that would subsequently take me under the water. And the lifeguard looked at me like he was clueless. When my friend came to help me, he's like, I thought you were FAKING it. Why on earth would someone fake it?? And I'm fine on anything that has a raft. No raft, no ride. We're talking over 12 years ago, back when it was WaterWorks. deb

LEAST favorite ride?
Least favorite coaster: Vortex. Least favorite flat (that I have ridden): Delirium Least favorite water ride: Coolangatta Racers (bumped my head constantly on the tube) and Down Under Thunder (nearly drowned in the pool at the bottom back in the late 90s. I can't swim) deb

Favorite Ride at KI
Coasters: Toss up between Face/Off, Firehawk, and TopGun Flat: Tomb Raider... WITH music, of course. deb

New and improved SOB.
isn't it being the tallest and fastest enough theming? Oh, I guess we could add the Sphinx to it, and rename it AE^2.... ROFL.. sorry, I had my bitter pill today deb

Carowinds DZ Cable Found to be Thin
Oddly, until my son stuck his head out of a train ride at the fair/carnival, I thought nothing of them. (No, he wasn't hurt. But he's not allowed to ride the train anymore.) Now, I get skittish. We only go for the dinky Ferris Wheel, cause KI doesn't have one. THEY NEED ONE! deb

SOB TESTING
All I remember is being doubled over... and hurting. I'm nearly 5'10", and back then I was lucky to weigh a buck twenty. I've got leftover baby weight now (he's 6 months) so it might be different. And I think I was like 2 weeks postpartum the last time I rode it.... *shrug* That COULD have something to do with it. deb

Lots of Old Kings Island Photos, all categorized!
great find! thanks! I feel like I'm an embryo again! deb

SOB TESTING
I dunno if I will ride it again. I mean, the first time I rode it, it was so fast and rough I felt like I'd been hit by a mack truck. And I was doubled over the bars the whole time... the ORP shows it (reason I didn't buy it). I think I had bruises for a month... (genetic thing) deb

Favorite Coaster Crew?
Firehawk's crew is fab, but man, The Beast's crew has them by a long shot! No other ride I've been on has the crew pumped you up before you ride, after you are on the train heading to the lift hill, and on the way back unloading! Last night they were ON! deb

TR:6/19/07
King Cobra was another ride I knew better than to try... my theory is if they can't give me a FULL SEAT to sit on and not a bike seat, they don't want me to ride it. So I didn't ride it. deb

Firehawk on weekdays?
Yesterday it was 45 mins.. but that was at 10:30 in the morning. I think everyone in the park was there waiting in line... and they were running both trains and the transition was seemingly perfect. No glitches, and it was still going at night (I saw people on it as we were going to FoF). Even if I'd waited 3 hours, it still would have been worth it. It's a fantastic ride! deb

6-19-07 Trip to KI
We were there, too, and after the rain stopped the park was nearly empty... and the rain only lasted about 45 mins. We walked onto everything we rode except Firehawk and The Beast (which was at 10, had to wait on the fireworks). deb

TR:6/19/07
Why do you hate it so much? I just didn't like it. Reminded me of Viking Fury, another ride I don't particularly like. It almost felt out of control, and I'm a control freak. And I felt like I was falling straight to the ground... and I don't care for that. deb

TR:6/19/07
We took a trip to KI yesterday with my brother and sister in law and one of their friends. We got there at about 10:30ish and went straight to the line for Firehawk, as we hadn't gotten the chance to ride it before. We waited about 45 mins, rode the yellow train, and I've gotta tell ya, it's the SMOOTHEST ride in the park. It was fantastic. I bet it'd be great at night! Next we hopped onto the Zephyr for a smooth swing. Then we went back to Tomb Raider. I gotta say I was VERY disappointed in the ride without the music. I tried to help by yelling out "We should turn back!" at the appropriate moment. It didn't help. On the way back, we stopped by the IJ:ST and rode it. Then, since we were close to Vortex, we went and rode it. I know a lot of other members love it, but it beat me to death and I still don't care for it. When we got off, we were so close to Spongebob that we went on back and did that. After we got off IJ:ST, we went to eat. It was nearing 3 now. We were hot and sticky, and wanted to change into our bathing suits and head back to BB. When we got out to the Jeep, we got our stuff, sat around for a while, then noticed a HUGE black cloud hovering in the sky. We had expected rain, as we live west of Cincy, and we were getting drenched before left. Just as we got back into the front gate, the pour down started. So we got some cotton candy, and had a nice sit for about 45 mins or so waiting on the rain to stop. A lot of people left because of the rain. We knew it would pass. Once the rain stopped, we went to BB. We went up to the Coolangatta Racers first (last time we were there we didn't get to ride it). While we were waiting, the guy we were with asked the LG what happened if someone got stuck? She replied it never happened before, so she didn't know. Guess who got stuck? ME. She had to push me. LOL. I was a bit beat up as my head kept bouncing off the side of the walls. Then we went back and rode the Snowy River Rampage, and I went down backwards. It's so much fun backwards! My hubby said it kept looking like I was gonna go flying over the edge. We then walked back to Tazmanian Typhoon, another one we missed out on before. I went backwards on it, too. And I didn't get wet until the little bump before you spill out of the funnel, but it was fun. We also did Crocodile Run, and got caught in an empty float traffic jam.... LOL. We were pushing them along. I laid out for a bit while everyone else played in the wave pool. We got re-dressed and stopped at Nick Central to ride Runaway Reptar. I gotta say, that's a GREAT ride to be a kiddie coaster. We rode up front first (best spot) then got to stay on in a different seat for another ride. We then took everything to the Jeep, and came back to hit the Action Zone. It was about 6:30-6:45 then. Everyone wanted to ride Delirium (except me) but I told my hubby I would, because he asked me to... so I did. Needless to say, I was right, I hated it and was nearly in tears by the time we stopped. They went and got on Drop Zone, while I sat it out. Next we went up and got on Face/Off... and I was a bit off kilter on it because I was still reeling from Delirium. It was a pretty good ride on Face/Off. I wanted to go ride Top Gun, so we went back there and rode it. On the way by SOB, we saw a sign for the EXtreme Skyflyer being only $5. So my sister in law and one of her friend went to get in line for it. We sat there for a bit, but apparently everyone thought $5 was cheap, because the line was crazy by then. We had wanted to ride Top Gun in the front, so we went back and rode up front. There were maybe 5 people total on it, including us, and man, is it ever faster with a small load. Made me remember why I love it so much! When we all got back together (we waited another 15 mins on them to get off the ES). We then did a tally of what coasters we had and hadn't rode, and realized all that was left was Racers, FoF, AE, and The Beast. It was 9:15, and everyone was kinda freaked thinking we wouldn't get to ride anything else. We walked back to FoF. First time I rode it without the OTSR, and it was FANTASTIC! Also very smooth. It did stop on us midtrack, but it was so quick it made it seem like it was meant to be there. By then it was about 9:30 ish, and we decided that The Beast was all that we really wanted to ride. My brother in law sat out, said he didn't want to be beat to death that late (we were exhausted). We went and got in line, there were a TON of people in line to get a night ride. When we got in line, the ops announced in 8 mins they would temporarily cease operation of The Beast in due to the fireworks show. We were cool with that, we thought we'd be back from the ride by then. As we waited, the ops announced that one of the riders in the front car had made a record of 56 rides on The Beast for that one day.. WOW. There were also a bunch of ACE members on that particular train (I think the rest were behind us... LOL). We waited until they announced that in a few seconds the ride would close for the fireworks. My sister in law and her friend decided to go back out of the line, and we waited. At about 10:10, the got the all clear and let us on. Needless to say, I was psyched up for riding it at night. As well I should be. It was FANTASTIC! And the smoothest ride I've ever had on The Beast, ever. There was one small glitch... we stopped midway up the lift hill for a few seconds.. Enough to bring the fear back The Beast. Screw the fireworks, you can see those on the 4th. Go ride The Beast at night, instead!!! Oh, btw, the only thing we had to wait on the ENTIRE day was for Firehawk (45 mins) and The Beast, and that was only because of the fireworks (we were the first train out after they ended). We WALKED ONTO EVERYTHING. I was in total shock to walk on The Vortex and FoF. We hadn't rode them at all because of the lines. Little things I noticed: The soda pop machines still say Paramount, as do the uniform tees. I was disappointed that there was no pic on FoF. The video should be cool, though. And everything lit up at night makes the park beautiful. The fountain is gorgeous with those lights. We had a great time, and I'm STILL worn out. deb

Speed Pass info
So, if you've got one of these tickets, is it specific to you? When you get into line, do you HAVE to show your Gold Pass? I only ask because I won't ride Drop Zone nor Delirium, and we've got friends going that will. And honestly, I'd let them pick which one they wanted and let them have my ride. No need in wasting it, really, when someone can have some fun from it. I wouldn't want to get into trouble with the park because of it, but it seems fair to me, if you aren't going to use it, pass it on to someone who will. deb

Speed Pass info
I've not received a speed pass on anything. Since we're going early for Joe's birthday, I was curious as to how it works: I mean, where do you get one, can I share it with someone, etc? deb

Taking a trip with infants
The kids are gonna have a blast. I plan on taking MANY pics, so as soon as I can, expect a picture trip report! deb

Why is the Vortex rated a 4?
uh huh. But I think the ratings are there so that parents can help judge what rides their kids can ride when they are tall enough. And if you check the map, it gives an explanation for all the ride ratings... plus, if you check out the disability PDF on pki.com you can see all the reasoning for the ratings, even the waterpark, and specifics. deb

Neat Interactive Aerials of KI

One new ride- What would it be?
The Beast is old. There are days you can walk-on. The Racers are old. It's ALWAYS walk-on.. at least from the days I've been there. I have never walked-on Top Gun. EVER. Sure, some paint and theming would do wonders. But as it's one of a few of that type of coaster, I doubt it'd go anywhere. deb

One new ride- What would it be?
OMG NO! I'd never go back!!! Top Gun is my favorite. can't tear it down! deb

Neat Interactive Aerials of KI
I tried that, didn't help. From full aerial, you can see IJ:ST. Go in closer, turns to Antique Cars. Also, I checked out Google Earth... and guess who uses the SAME aerials?!?!?! odd. deb
