Starting to Decode 2014
Oh look, Kings Island changed the cover photo for their Facebook page. It now shows the Monster with The Racer in the background. That means our new coaster is going to be a monster-themed twisting and turning steel racing coaster....AND since they changed their cover photo to show the Monster, that means the announcement will be made on Halloween. YAY!!!! Yippee!!!! Hoora.....

Maybe the forums should stand up side down. Or maybe we can get a Banshee to scare the hiccups away. Get the forums to "stand upside down" ??....I remember the days of standing upside down at Kings Island.... KC at the top of the loop...?

That's okay, Mer. We had a bit of fun at your expense.

Terp will scare them away. HA! . . . . . . . Just kidding, Terp. That was my smart-alec attempt at humor again.

Did the forum get the hiccups? Merthecat just posted the same thing 4 times.

Yes. I repped your post. I think it would be nice if the coaster extended beyond the current red-highlighted construction zone, but that remains to be seen. But something in my gut tells me it will be some sort of record breaker. Whether an invert, floorless, or dive coaster, I don't know. Probably nothing more than what was there before....except a lot of pictures of the very wet construction site.

Okay, thanks. You answered my question. The reason I was asking is because I was thinking it might give us some sort of idea about the angle of the supports above each footer we currently see in the construction zone, and thus give us a better idea about the possible layout. For instance, on the triangular pads, if we can see that a support would connect at an angle heading in one direction while the other supports would be angled in a different direction, maybe we could deduce that the triangular pads were built to support a helix section or cobra roll, etc.

I'm not referring to the track direction. I'm talking about the supports when they are angled, not sticking straight up. This is a crude illustration to help understand what I'm talking about. Is the support angled perpendicular to the cutout in the footer, like below: Or does the angle run in the same direction as the cutout, as in this image:

I have a question about the holes in these types of footers. Does the elongated shape hold any significance to the direction in which the support is angled?

I almost made a comment like this last week, but I decided it wasn't worth it. - signed, secondson, who's trying to be a smart alec. May I ask...did that exchange actually take place between Kinzel and Intamin?

Ain't that the truth! I agree, they produce so many hyped coasters that are busts. I found this link for you, YoungStud. It might be helpful. Consider using it to express your complaints/disappointments about B&M coasters, as well as your desires for Intamin....see what they say. http://www.cedarfair.com/ir/contact/

The footers for Ride of Steel all line up directly under the track like a connect-the-dots puzzle. Are you honestly saying that's what you see at the KI2014 construction site? You're the one that brought up the shape of the footers when you pointed out the circular ones on RoS and said "Game, set, match..."
-
Starting to Decode 2014
But practically all of I305's footers are the same rectangular shape. http://binged.it/1cW8USW Most of the ones we're seeing on KI2014 are individual round or square footers.

The Nile. Good answer. But I think he was looking for "De Nile"....as in denial.

Why would I lie? What would it gain me to do that? I'm not the one repeatedly asserting this will be an Intamin giga while not providing any reasonable evidence or proof. If you guys don't believe me, go to Google Maps and look it up yourself. In the bottom left corner is the scale. Make sure they're the same on each map you're looking at. If you go to Bing Maps, you'll find the same exact thing. Zoom in close enough so the primary interval is 100'. Even if the scales are off, it still doesn't mean a custom designed invert couldn't be built to fill the amount of space where we currently see footers.

There's absolutely no way in the world you can say that. Look at these overhead images from Google Maps. They are both at the same scale. - The red outlined area of the first picture is the area taken up by Alpengeist. - The red outlined area for the second image is the currently known construction area for KI Project 2014. As you can see, a B&M invert is very capable of taking up a lot of land. And don't forget....this is most likely a custom design, which means an invert could very well spread out to fill the red area in the second image, if not extend beyond it.

If you look a bit to the right in that photo, just out of frame, you'll find that awesome terrain coaster hidden in the woods you're looking for - it's called Adventure Express LOL! Come on, you know what I mean. I should have emphasized the word "awesome". Remember the lesson learned in Freaky Friday. Of course Don's not a woman, and not your mom...but your comment made me think about this. Start at 1:29...

way too much time on your back. The point of a flyer is to fly, not lay on your back. I think that's one of the major things wrong with Firehawk. I agree the video of that coaster has way too much "on your back" time. I watched it and thought to myself "How many birds actually fly upside down as they're diving toward water". It's not realistic. As for Firehawk, I agree the loop is weird. It's like that on a lot of flyers. Why not just fly on the outside of the loop? It's funny the way sound travels. The ride op was most likely hearing screams from some of the other rides close by.

Why, YoungStud, do you keep saying it's going to be an Intamin giga? Seriously, I would like to hear your thoughts. Please stop feeding the troll and it will go away. I have to give him the benefit of the doubt. That's the kind of person I am. I feel that's the ethically correct thing to do. I'm not going to accuse someone of being a troll if I don't consider them a troll. People simply haven't liked what he's said in the past, and they've badgered him about it, but that doesn't make him a troll. He's just trying to express his opinion. Shouldn't we allow him to do that? It's really a shame all those trees were cut down. That area could have made for another AWESOME terrain coaster hidden in the woods.

Then it sounds like KI needs to do a better job of covering up the gaps in the fence. That wasn't very nice of them to yell at you for something when they clearly made it easy for people to look through the gaps.

Oh, I'm sure that's very true. I thought SonOfBaconator was talking about a program he could use himself to create a 3D model of a design he's made. Ooops....my bad.
