I agree with Ryan, you guys are making something out of nothing. This topic is just plain pointless.

9/11 GE Day
JCC I'm guessing? Strangely enough, when I was working Drop Zone earlier this year, a counselor from Camp Chabad, as well as a few campers recognized me.

Kennywood trip 9-2-05
I considered pki a lot safer than Kennywood for a lot of reasons. Mainly because someone could jump in front of a moving coaster train if they wanted to- and at any time.

Kennywood trip 9-2-05
Yesterday a close friend from Geagua Lake and myself went two hours out of our ways to go to Kennywood. He came, picked me up from my last English class, and left for Pittsburgh. (Sure enough, it was exactly a two hour drive.) When we got there, we parked in one of the free parking areas, bought our tickets, and went through the underground tunnel into the park. The first ride was the Jackrabbit. Jackrabbit was a great oldie, not too shaky, and with one of it's double-down drops, it had some nice pop-up airtime. In fact, that ride was probably better than Blue Streak. After Jackrabbit, my friend and I did The Racer. Much like the one at pki, it did race- but not as long. The ride was okay, but not the best. The only interesting part about this ride is that somewhere in the ride, the two tracks cross, and the riders end up on opposite sides of the station when they come in. Next was one of the rides I requested to ride- the Aero 360. It was my first time riding a Zamperla Hawk model. The ride made good use of Kennywood's famous arrows, and was a blast to ride at night. You didn't know what to expect! After a while of my friend nagging and begging, I finally agreed to ride the 180' Skycoaster. Unlike the one at pki, this one suspended you over water. The freefall was great, and the ride operators were just as friendly as most were all over the park- a bit fatigued, but still smiling. And now for the highlight of the evening- the Phantom's Revenge. The line was long, bit well worth the wait. This steel coaster out-does MF on my list of favorite steel coasters. When I first got in, I noticed a few things: The cars had been modified since Kennywood took the loops out of this ride (so the cars were the same height as they were when they had OTSR's, but a lot more comfortable.), and the lap bars looked a lot different than any of the lap bars I've seen before. They were two separate bars that came in from the side of the car, and onto your lap. Aside from those bars that were quite loose, all you had to keep you inside the ride was a retractable seat-belt. When my friend and I rode, we rode in the back of the second car. I could barely see the track in front of us, so I had no idea what to expect while riding. It was a lot more than I had anticipated. This ride had a lot more ejector airtime than Raven, and every turn and drop were as smooth as glass! This ride has made my list of my top three favorite steel coasters. I was tearing by the end of the ride. We tried waiting in line for Thunderbolt, but the line was too long, and they were only running one train, so we got out of line and decided to ride the Exterminator instead. The exterminator was an indoor coaster, hidden beneath a building covered by "Keep Out" signs. I had no idea what the theming of this ride was supposed to be, since the people in the que were so loud, you couldn't hear anything except for the Alarm siren. Even my friend (who had ridden this a few times before) had no clue what the theming was supposed to mean. I eventually figured it out while I was on the ride. I'm not one to really enjoy Wild Mouse kinds of rides- but this was fun. The only thing that I didn't enjoy about the ride (besides the line) was that some of the theming on the ride actually scared me. There were plastic men in orange exterminator suits turning to you and yelling something like, "Eat poison, rat!". The last part of the ride had to be the best. The car started spinning out of control, and it continued to spin until we were in the station. We went down hills and around turns, still spinning. If you liked Spinning Wild Mouse rides (with theming), this one's for you. I popped into the gift shop really quickly to get myself a suvinier shirt and two teddy bears for my little sisters. Our last roller coaster of the night was the Thunderbolt. That ride was painful, and felt more like a fairground scrambler than anything else. I just plainly didn't like this ride. My friend and I tried running back to get back on the Phantom's Revenge, but they had already cut the line. So we hit one last flat- the King Kahuna. Another lovely HUSS ride. This was my first topspin with fountains- actual working fountains that could splash you in the face. Good thing the ride operator decided not to use them to do that- she only used them to give us a good scare while we were upside down. It was a good ride, but the restraints were not made for males to enjoy. My friend was in quite a bit of pain when the ride started. A few notes about what I've noticed during the trip: -While we were in line for Racer, the ride stopped operating because of the parade. (yes, Kennywood actually has a parade, too. It wasn't a very good one, either. PKI's definitely beat the heck out of this one.) I guess Kennywood has it's own reasons for stopping the operations of it's rides due to the parade... -Almost all of the employees looked happy to serve us. Fatigued, but happy. -The work uniforms were the most un-professional looking uniforms I have ever seen. T-shirts and gym shorts or sweat pants. At least they looked comfortable. -The safety of the park itself was atrocious. This was worse than SFKK in some ways. None of their rides had que gates- they had just put some red and yellow lines down on the ground and told us not to cross them. I also noticed that before we rode Aero 360, one of the ride operators went under the moving platforms (the platforms go down when the ride starts) to get a flip flop. They did not turn the ride off or anything, he just hopped down there and hopped right back up. The only ride I saw operating by pki's safety standards was the Skycoaster. -The employee entrance and exit are the same as the guest entrance and exit. Well, that must be inconvenient for those who work there. My friend and I walked out next to a Full-Timer while we were leaving. Hope you enjoyed the trip report! ~DeliriumDreamer~

The summer of 05
It's quite depressing for me that summer flew by so quickly, that I didnt have time to enjoy the pki season like I did last year. I start UA on the 29th, but maybe I will return to pki during my winter break during christmasfest.

Media Announcement for ?
I agree with what my friend here has said. Ever since I was in elementary school, I was teased for being Jewish. I happen to like my religion, and it kind of stinks when another religion is forced upon everyone. Sure, a good portion of Cincinnati is Christian, and a lot of people celebrate christmas, but this is unfair towards the minorities. This is why Gabriel and myself find this idea to be a little single-minded. EDIT: I just read the last few posts, and I understand the whole idea of marketing towards the majority, but I'm still saying this is plainly unfair to those who are of a different religion, and yet loyal to the park. I never said that McDonalds and Coke commercials were doing the right thing, by doing the same thing. However, in the Jewish religion, Channukah is not a major holiday, it was just "American-ized", so that Jewish kids also get presents, and celebrate it to the same extent that their Christian friends do. I'm guessing (because I really don't know much about Christianity) that Christmas has the same importance to the Christian people as Passover or Yom Kippor means to the Jewish people.

What Souvineers Do You Buy From Pki?
Whenever I go with my friends, I always get an ORP. I have several from over the years- Flight of Fear (when it had OTSR's, and when it got changed), SOB, Vortex, Beastie, Top Cat, SDATHC, Beast, Face/off, and Italian Job. I also have some from Holiday world and SFKK. A few years ago, I enjoyed collecting prizes from the park. I loved those stuffed animals, but didn't ever have the room in my house for them. My mom's closet is filled with those gigantic tigers, panther, and a lion.

JULY 16
G-dawg, you haven't seen the park filled. It can be pretty bad.

I've never been to Cedar Point either, and probably won't this year. (I don't have anyone to go with.)

Best ride, hands down- is Raven.

Best Roller Coaster Crew?
This has got to be one of the lamest and most over-done polls ever.

The Best kind of Food PKI has.
My fave is always going to be rivertown potato works. I love their fresh fries and cup of cheese sauce.

STUPID HABITS OF PARK EMPLOYEES!
Well said, Danny. We (in rides or whatever crews are reading/posting in these forums) are all working for pki, and we are all on the same page. I don't think that ANY one ride or crew is better than all of the rest. I bet that if someone switched the employees from Beast and some employees from HB, some people will still say that The Beast is the best ride. For some, it's the employee attitude that makes up the ride experience, for others, it's the ride itself. The reason why The Beast gets so much recognition is because it's legendary- not because the crew holds 'power hours'. (Once again, other rides do the same thing, and no one comes on these boards and talks about their power-hours.) Our jobs as employees is to give each and every guest a safe, fun, and memorable experience at the park. That's what we're all about.

You might be a KI addict if you...
You are starting to scare me.

TR: 6/6/05
I've ridden both- and it's all up to what kind of thrill you are after. It took me a few rides to actually enjoy skyflyer as much as I do now. At first I hated it. As for Slingshot- it's thrill is starting to wear off on me, because I have ridden it so many times. It's still good, though. Ps- If you rode skyflyer on 6/6, you most likely saw me. I was there ALL DAY.

STUPID HABITS OF PARK EMPLOYEES!
I have never seen any crew in the park do what The Beast crew does the last hour every night. So, yea I think they do deserve a lot of credit. Then you haven't seen the Delirium crew at night. We may not do backflips in the station, but we do get the entire gondola pumped up.

Gah, I tried to keep that a secret, but it looks like the cat's out of the bag. You weren't during break, you told everyone. Tony, shut your mouth before I slap you. OH JEAS, I'M SOO SCARED.. LOL You are just plain weird. We end this fight pyramid now.

STUPID HABITS OF PARK EMPLOYEES!
Here's my reply to the whole issue: 1. Farts happen, and they happen everywhere. There is nothing we can do about that. 2. No offense to The Beast crew members who are reading this, but they are getting more credit than other crews who do the same thing... Perhaps guests should take a look at the Faceoff or Vortex crews, or the happy people over in Hanna Barbara land... We all are enthusiastic about our jobs, just as much as The Beast crew. Just because we don't work on a "legendary" ride, doesn't mean that we aren't good employees. People tend to overlook that. 3. I really can't excuse any kind of bad behavior from the employees... we are trained to keep private information private, and to treat all guests equally, no matter how bad our day or their day can get. We do have our slip-ups, as does everyone else. All in all, most pki employees are happy to be where they are and what they do. I know I take great pride in what I do, as do the other employees who read these boards.

Annoying habits of guests
what about the people who hold up the line because they are too busy watching qtv or talking to someone- and the line is one entire que ahead of them?
-
Annoying habits of guests
Sometimes people do that just to make you smile... ever think of that? I've seen instances when guys put their girlfriend on the height scale, or against the sign and ask if they are tall enough... once agian, they're just joking around. I think nothing of it.

Went the 14th too!
I can't do anything about that. That's an entirely different department, and that would be a major violation on my part if I did. Sorry!

Went the 14th too!
Eh, I don't recall if I saw you or not... I'm kinda short with brown hair and blonde streaks in a ponytail. Oh well, it's good to know you had fun! Slingshot is an awesome ride, and well worth the money.
