Windseeker closed yesterday due to....wind
yeah I am really wondering about the wind thing as well. They got this style so it could run in winds, obviously not high winds. I think the real design was for CP and if it met that standard it would be ok. But after seeing some videos and hearing about it closing, not sure about this. I figured that the arms were rigid more than they are and so did others. If they were it should be able to take higher winds. I do like the idea of having a wind speed monitor by the ride. Then if they say no rides when > 10 mph and the gauge shows 11 mph, they can explain. I agree it is probably a fun ride (not on yet) but seems like a odd one to put in 4 parks. Well I am not the marketing manager or park designer so that is their job. Just wondering how this ride will do long term.

What is up with Diamondback and Dinosaur cams? Been down for days.

I agree that CP would be first. The only reason I figure KI was going to be first was due to the operating schedule and opening on weekends earlier. No big deal.

So are the bugs bad only at night or during the day as well? Maybe they can issue disposable masks for the ride :-) I really want to ride CP the most as it should have the best view. Maybe it will be a day only ride to avoid bugs.

After watching that video, I wouldn't be surprised if additional modifications were made to WindSeeker to reduce the movement of the arms. At the very minimum, I hope they would reduce the wind speed at which the ride can operate. Those seats appeared to get awfully close to one another, which I imagine could result in injuries. I actually sent them the link to the video today and asked if that was 'normal'. I thought they would only swing side to side not like that. I asked them was makes sure you dont get slammed by the car in front of you. Not sure if I will get a response or not but it was a serious email. FYI. From what I saw on the CP webcam today, it was not running at all.

Kings Island's History Is Relived in "Riding History to the Limits"!
Ok, I just rewatched and love that series. Who were Walter and Nancy Duff? I hear they hung out with Woody Harlson (who also attend Hanover College in Indanawith my sister). I am just trying to remember their claim to fame besides being park employees. And how were they picked for the video?

Well see CP WindSeeker doing full testing and full spin today on cam. I would expect from what we are hearing they will be next. Kinda funny as it was supposed to open KI, CP, CW and appears to be ending up in reverse....

Kings Island's History Is Relived in "Riding History to the Limits"!
Does anyone know of a book version of this or any others on the history of Kings Island? There are great books on other parks but none on KI that I know of.

Windseeker & Coney Mall Construction Continues
From what I remember reading, the ride will take 1 minute to ascend, 1 minute spinning on top, and 1 descending. I'm not sure if this is will remain true though. Well watch the CW WindSeeker run and if you time how it runs now that seems to be the answer. It seems to take longer on way down but think that is now just because they have just started running it. Like all rides, it will get tweaked as they learn and use it more. But I do not expect more than 1 min on top. It is a pretty big arc so it may seem slow but think it is moving faster than you think.

Well it appears that CP has their WS in test mode now. Cams show what appear to be in a spin cycle. They were working on it quite a bit during CM this weekend. If CW has theirs going maybe all will be up soon!

Yes we will be back again at CP later this year (with Platinum Pass) and hope to ride it then. It will by far be the best with views. Finally rode power tower down this year and view at top will be similar and is great.

yeah it is the same marketing speil you get from how tall buildings are. It is 800 ft tall after a 100 ft antenna on top of a 10 foot concrete block..... I agree no biggie, the 300 ft is what sells it

I am sure once they get it worked out it will be a fun time! Well still wondering why they built all at once. I was wondering if they ordered the one for CP and then got a deal on four. So decided what the heck and put them in the other parks. It just seems with the delay/confusion at Knotts that the location and such was last minute. Not for sure of this but would be curious to hear what is known about the multi ride deal. It might have been a good deal but then build one and test it out for a year then build the others. Remember Stealth when they built it in CA and then ran and tested it for a year in the park before even opening the ride. Not saying they need a year but same idea. Build/Test/Fix then build more.

Dinosaurs is Coming to Life!

Windseeker & Coney Mall Construction Continues
I just saw pictures of the WindSeeker in Canada and they recently added dampers to the arms. Ideas are to keep it from excessive swaying. Any idea if those will be on any of the other ones? Do they have higher winds there and would CP not be one that would need it if it is an issue due to the location there?

Just curious about the 4th WindSeeker at Knotts. We have heard a lot about the other 3 but how iis that one doing?

Something tells me that they can not say that to an insurance company. You always prepare for something like that with a backup. It wont happen it does. That ride in China where the car came off and went flying...... Also, do you think this ride will be the full 3 minutes. I have watched the CW version testing and it was a 2 min video and I do agree it might be a little more in time but not much. This will have a very long slow line since it is single threaded. So 3 min ride, 1 minute load, 1 min unload...... not sure aboui that.

Just curious, what is the backup for if the connection at top does come loose? Is there a cable attached to the arm as well?
