  1. The pandemic (similar to 9/11) has shown the world how totally unprepared we all were for such an event to the point that accurately determining what was the correct way of handling it cannot be identified yet.
  2. There is a video on YouTube that has one of these Flying Coasters at Cedar Point in 1963 located near Pagoda Gift Shop.
  3. These "flying coasters" are definitely a unique ride. Waldameer had "The Bump" for decades. Very fun ride for a group of kids (unless you were in the outside of the car....).
  4. Ohio Department of Agriculture has an annual inspection and a supplemental inspection that can take place at any time. The annual inspection certification is based on a rolling year. Rides at seasonal parks do need to be inspected before each operating year due to off-season rehab & the ride being down for an extended amount of time. Traveling rides need inspected each time they are moved & set up.
  5. Likely because many don't know that SNL skit and we are showing our age.....
  6. I'm partial to: HANS AND FRANZ THE RIDE
  7. I hope & pray that she beats the odds & can make a full recovery. It is so disturbing to think having a day of fun out can result in such a life-changing tragedy.
  8. *I believe* the water is pumped in/ out daily from Sandusky Bay for all of CP's water rides including Maverick's lake. Beast lake was removed for a few reasons: garbage, urine, breeding ground for mosquitos etc. Maintenance certainly became an easier task without the lake, but had minimal impact compared to the other reasons.
  9. Combined with: employee shortage, normal off-season work, and knowing that some of the existing parts were to be saved for other CF rides, the decision was likely made to get a jump start on the deconstruction side before the off season started in full swing.
  10. So you believe the only spare parts CP has for WT exist on the ride itself? Interesting theory.
  11. What a nice article on a great family & park. Some of the corporate parks should take a step back & look at how all the small things add up to a great reputation.
  12. I sincerely hope that is not the case. It would be a terrible disservice to both future guests but more importantly the injured guest.
  13. The bolts corroding from the inside of the car due to the winter weather & salt on the midway does not add up. Both the snow & salt would have to come from the ground to the undercarriage. It's not exactly an easy place to get to unless a huge plow truck is literally plowing snow from the midway onto the cars themselves and the snow melt runoff gets under the cars covering. FHCS are either blackened steel to prevent corrosion or stainless steel which does not corrode. The ODoA final report will be an interesting read.
  14. I guess it makes the most sense to use the gondola to reach the areas that need painted and whoever is doing the painting have some grandes bolas......
  15. I can remember back in the 80"s the sign: "Line Jumping is not a Sporting Event at Kings Island" and while it likely still happened, guests were definitely more respectful of each other back then. In today's world many feel entitled to the point the rules do not apply to them. Phones out on rides, careless/ reckless driving, a general attitude of my time is more important than your time etc. The entitlement list is massive. Even though many may not agree, I still feel paid line jumping with Fast Lane only encourages the act, but that perk is not likely going anywhere. How about KI & other parks use some of the Fast Lane revenue and add some security to the more problematic queue lines on days we all know it is going to be busier? A zero tolerance policy on both line jumping & use of phones on rides would also be a step in the right direction.
  16. *There used to be little to no issues that were publicized like they are today. As the amount of B & M rides increase so does the opportunity of a ride malfunctioning.
  17. SF financial position is not as bad as many think it is. If SF is serious about selling, the park needs to be updated with fresh rides that bring in guests.
  18. Prozac prescription was out of date.
  19. That's what I can't figure out. Perhaps there has been too much structural "wear & tear" on the slides themselves? Was the original design intended for average of x-lbs. and the overall population is over that now? Does the increased weight allow for too much momentum and a rider could go over the side of the slide? It should also be noted that this isn't necessarily for "fat people" but those who weigh above a certain weight. On the signs no one is permitted to ride above 180kgs., which is 396 lbs. the other sign is obviously half that.
  20. https://nypost.com/2021/09/29/park-accused-of-fat-shaming-guests-with-self-weighing-stations/ Park issues apology and refund: https://www.perthnow.com.au/local-news/perthnow-central/adventure-world-ceo-andrew-sharry-issues-apology-to-customers-over-fat-shaming-pre-ride-weighing-scales-ng-b882023737z
  21. It has been said PTC allowed one side to operate backwards in 1982. When CF came into the picture and asked the PTC of their recommendation, it was obviously different than 1982. CF being self-insured likely has some impact on the decision to ask the question to PTC. PTC's recommendation likely changed due to the litigious world we live in today.
  22. Those in the Halloween decoration business have faced incredible shortages. Even with the plan below, it is easy to guess the same will happen with Christmas. https://labusinessjournal.com/news/2021/oct/04/los-angeles-ports-backlog-holiday-retail-shipments/ The company I work for is critically low in raw materials- to the point we are rationing parts to all of our customers. Steel mills have stopped taking orders due to their backlog being so massive.
  23. It's nice that the headbanging was looked into using similar restraints found on GK. Looking at the drawing concept, that patent is not a major redesign. You still sit on a bicycle seat with an adjustable column that can still make you feel like you were kicked in the gonads or put a rather uncomfortable strain on your legs. I would guess if a park was interested in this it would have been tried out on an existing stand-up.
  24. Quoted from the article's first paragraph.
